Wingfoil Full Course in Mexico
This course is typically spread over several days and is intended to be one-on-one with an instructor. Please note that students will need to demonstrate a satisfactory aptitude with handling the wing and successful navigation using a training board without a foil before progressing to using a board with hydrofoil. The instructor reserves the right to make the determination of when the student is ready to make this progression.

Playa del Sol offers an enchanted tropical setting that is a world apart from the hustle and bustle of over-commercialized resort areas. Guests will find Playa del Sol's intimate setting to be a nice change from the ‘mega resorts’ found in other areas of Baja. With only 26 rooms, Playa del Sol is able to offer a slightly more personal touch for all its guests.
Program
This season Vela Baja Adventure Sports is very excited to offer lessons and rentals in the exciting and rapidly growing sport of wingfoiling. Wingfoiling encompasses the best elements of many other windsports. It offers:
- The lightness, portability, and freedom of movement of kiteboarding
- The compactness and ease of launching and landing of windsurfing
- The efficiency of hydro foiling
- And all the speed and thrills to be found with all the above sports
Lessons
The first session is the Intro to Winging course. Subsequent lessons aim to introduce the student to the foiling element of the sport.
Intro to Winging
This one-on-one course will introduce you to the wing, including set up, pack down, and essential safety protocols.
You will first be guided through a series of handling exercises on land to get the feel of the wing and how to use as a means of propulsion and navigation.
You will be shown the essentials of how to start – that is how to get on a board and transition from kneeling to standing. This will be followed by on-water practice using a high volume stable non foiling board such as a SUP or windsurf training board.
Location
The primary operation is at the beach front “Playa Del Sol” Hotel in the town of Los Barriles on the East Cape of Baja California Sur just a brief 45-minute journey from Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) along the Mex 1 highway.

Los Barriles has long been famous for the regular strong “El Norte” winds that sweep down the Sea of Cortez in the winter months creating ideal conditions for windsurfing and kiteboarding.
Winds are typically side-shore from the left (Port Tack) frequently blowing from around 11 a.m. until late afternoon. The spot is very safe due to the shape of the bay. On calmer days, the clear waters of the Sea of Cortez are perfect for stand up paddling and free-diving. The surrounding countryside hosts a highly developed network of scenic and challenging single-track mountain bike trails.

Please book your flight to arrive at Los Cabos International Airport (SJD). It is about 45 minutes of transfer time. A round trip transfer from the airport to Playa Del Sol for two persons is 100 USD per person. Vela Baja can make arrangements but you may pay the taxi direct upon arrival.
Cancellation Policy
- A reservation requires a deposit of 40% of the total price.
- The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
- The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
