Day 1
After arriving at the property, you will be greeted and welcomed by our friendliest staff with a traditional welcome drink. Check-in to our luxury accommodation with some tips about in-house facilities and about the town. Meeting our camp managers and getting organized on your surf week schedule. Enjoy your dinner at the camp with an unwind atmosphere where you also meet the fellow surfers who will be joining you in the surf camp for the next week or two.
Day 2
Wake up before dawn to the sound of the indian ocean and get ready for your first day in the Arugam bay surfing experience. Have a cup of coffee or tea, some bananas, and pack your bag with the help of our coaches for what to carry on your bag (don’t forget to bring sunscreen). Head to the beach early in the morning for your first session with their Srilankan-style surfing transport. All our in-water lessons are 2 hours and for your first 15 minutes, our isa- ils certified coaches will explain the basic theory, skills, and all other surfing needs. After the beautiful morning session, you will be back at the property for breakfast and a surf-yoga session. Along with all these surfing–yoga activities enjoy the best possible environment with mini adventures to improve your surfing skills whilst having lots of fun. Dinner starts from 7 pm till you need it.
Day 3
On your second surfing day, you're not only going to teach how to surf, but you're also going to have fun sharing waves while giving you the tools to become a great surfer. After your salt and sandy morning, head back to the resort and enjoy your breakfast. Sit back and relax or enjoy a good conversation along with your surfing crews before we meet at the video analysis. You will be filming every in-water lesson to show you how you have been surfing exactly and what you need to do to improve on your next sessions. At the end of the day, you can go up to the rooftop for sunset and have your dinner before bed.
Day 4
After two-morning in-water surfing sessions on this day, you will go for morning surf-yoga and then breakfast. After breakfast you can grab a book from the library and walk to Arugam bay beach, exploring the town and the culture before the sunset surfing session at a beautiful spot where you can also enjoy a bit of wildlife. After sunset surfing you can have your dinner at the camp before a peaceful night.
Day 5
In each lesson, you will learn a particular skill, but even more important you will know why you are learning it. On this day as usual morning tea or coffee and to the beach for an in-water surfing lesson. After your breakfast at the camp, Paddyway Resort provides practical lessons with theory and video analysis on the big screens in their classroom. They also explain and cover all the aspects of surfing including wave forecasts, surfboard design, surfing ethics, and safety. After the video analysis session, you can relax and chill before the sunset rooftop yoga session to get yourself calm down.
Day 6
It’s the end of surf week. So, on this day you will have two in-water surfing lessons to make sure you apply and practice what you have learned and experienced throughout the week. You have an early morning session and a sunset session. Spend the rest of the day at the camp or at the beach and enjoy the last dinner with your friends at the beach around a bonfire and BBQ.
Day 7: Departure day
Today is the last day of your surf camp in Arugam Bay, and you don’t have any surfing sessions planned for the day. However, if you don’t have to leave until the afternoon, you can grab a surfboard from our camp and go for a final surfing session in Arugam Bay on your own. Usually, the checkout is at noon. However, you are welcome to hang out in the camp as long as you want.
