Program
Tribu Surf teaches all the basics through a lot of fun. It is also meant for all of you, who want to improve your surfing skills. Starting out is always the most fun. They will first get you to know something about surfing theory, safety, equipment, how waves are influenced by weather, taking those first steps, and so on before putting the theory to the test.
In the following days, you will cover the theory in depth where everything will be repeated and discussed. The practice part will usually be carried out on the closest beach break Recreio, where you have a reserved exclusive spot, which means zero crowd in the water. The course will usually be held in the morning in the following way: three days of surfing school, rest day (time for day trips), two more days of surfing school.
There is no daily schedule. The best time to practice is in the morning, but it all depends on the tides and waves. Your progress will be recorded on video, so any faults can be corrected and perfected. Everyone who will stay with them longer than seven days will have one more day of rest and two extra days of surfing school as agreed and required.
Location
The surf practice takes place on the Macumba beach, Recreiro, Brazil. Recreiro is 30 minutes away from the center Rio de Janeiro and the two famous beaches Ipanema and Copacabana. The dreamlike atmosphere of Rio is fueled by the beaches (which are known all over the world by their surfing conditions) and dramatic hills which stop right at the edge of the ocean. The 100 kilometers beaches in Rio will definitely satisfy even the most demanding eyes, noses, and palates. The smell of summer is in the air there all year long.
Recreio beach is the longest beach with the most powerful waves. Recreio is less than 10 minutes of walking away from the surf house. You can play beach volley, foot volley, slacklining, biking, and skating. There is also a large number of disco bars and various other places to hangout. Grumari Beach is a part of a natural reserve. It is underpopulated and is included as one of the most beautiful beaches in Rio.
Ipanema beach
Summer in Rio de Janeiro starts right here. The trend setter of the city is the beach, where the Brazilian femininity really shows. The beach became famous with known actors, TV serials and movies, which presented beauty, pushed the acceptable limit of minimalist bikinis, which we know today. Streets of Ipanema are just as famous, by the carnival gatherings, which start here long before the official start of the carnival. Masks, samba, and good mood are accompanied by the smell of the ocean. Surfers enjoy the shore break, which can get up to two and a half meters. Steep hills, clear blue waters, and friendly surfers really stand out here and always make for an unforgettable sessions.
Copacabana beach
Copacabana beach is divided into two parts. The beach was chosen as one of the four Olympic zones, where the Olympic games will be held in 2016. Copacabana has 60 hotels and is a typical large ocean beach. Luxury, world renowned restaurants, and the most dense population are just some of the characteristics of Copacabana.
Grumari and Prainha beach
Grumari beach and Prainha, meaning "little beach", are part of a natural reserve. They are underpopulated and are two of the most beautiful beaches in Rio. Prainha is especially know by its great surfing options. You go on day trips to these beaches and have a cold beer with the stars.
