Surfing instructor Vinko was superb - very calm and methodological in explaining how to surf. He was also very friendly and caring! The food was amazing - very tasty, bravo to the chef! The accommodation was hostel type as expected, it was relatively clean. The common area had a big kitchen, a pool table and a garden to chill.

Everything overall was fair value for money as the price covered accommodation, some food and surfing classes.

My first comment is that there was NO yoga and it should NOT be advertised as yoga camp, but surf camp rather. I tried yoga once and it was a stretching really. I know that the yoga teachers change every month so maybe you'll be lucky to have a real yoga teacher. Also, streching only took place in the mornings and there was no afternoon session (differently from was advertised to me). I didn't know that this is a Slovenian surfing school so all staff was Slovenian as well as many of the guests. It wouldn't have been a problem but I thought it was rather rude when they all spoke Slovenian at a dinner table and in the beach when we went there to learn surfing and as a non-Slovenian guest I felt rather isolated and ignored. I thought that if their wish was to attract more Slovenian tourists they should not advertise to other countries. I have traveled to many places and have never experienced anything like this; everyone in the camp spoke good English but for some reason they chose to pretty much ignore anyone who is non-Slovenian. It was okay when more non-Slovenian guests arrived - we kinda ended up in two groups: Slovenians and non-Slovenians. But if you a minority non-Slovenian for some days it can be rather unpleasant. Finally, the house/hostel was a bit in the middle of nowhere with no cafe or shop nearby so you felt a bit stuck.

    The food was amazing!

The Party on Saturday nights and people who are staying in the tents come to the house and join in with the games.

It was a surf camp for people from one particular country, so being the only person not from that country was a bit strange and sometimes isolating. As everyone was talking in their own language all the time.

For me this was the perfect way to get to know surfing. You're on the beach all day, you have surf class and you can go surfing whenever you want. Everyone in the organisation was helpful, caring and encouraging, making sure you'll have a wonderful time, even if you're not from Slovenia ;)

    I didn't like going home ;)

I had a mixed experience at the surf lodge to be honest.

On the positive side, the food was very tasty and large portions, the house was decent and fairly nice place to relax in considering the low cost and was always clean and tidy. I thought the surf lessons were good and that I got quite a bit of support from the teachers. The day trips were also fun.

My main criticism is that I found most of the people who worked there to be quite cliquey.I was also surprised to find out that this was a Slovenian surf camp i.e. run by people from Slovenia and most of the guests were from Slovenia. I booked my trip through bookyogaretreats.com where this wasn't mentioned anywhere, it also wasn't obvious on their website or on here as all the reviews are written in English. From talking to the few other guests who were not from Slovenia they were shocked to find this out upon arrival. The reason I found this a problem is because I was travelling solo and wanted an experience where I would be able to interact and communicate with people I didn't know. When I was there for most of the time it was just me and LUCKILY one other english girl, everyone else Slovenian. I made a big effort to chat to the Slovenian people and while they were willing and friendly when I would make a big effort I didn't feel like I got much back from most, particularly the people who worked there, they would rarely bother (if ever) to start a conversation with me. I kind of feel like firstly its a bit rude and if your are working there you should make a bigger effort to include the guests if not for your own sense of conscience then at least to provide a positive service for clients. I made the best of the situation but to be honest I would never go back and would not advise anyone travelling solo who is not from Slovenia to stay there.

After 10 days of waves, it was time to leave our tribe. We learned to ride the white water and some waves too. We saw some sights and had a really great time. Thank you Tribu Surf for every experience we got. You are an awesome team!

I've joined the surf camp in Peniche last week and it was my best vacation ever. Tribu Surf team is great. You have the best chef and the tourist guide is full of knowledge and has a special charm so I had a great time following her.

I have been in Tribu Surf camp in Peniche, Portugal. It is such a great place to be! The place was full of optimism, kind people, good music, and party places. It is ideal for young adults. Peniche has very large sandy beaches, where you can easily find spots that are great for beginners. The instructors are always ready to help in the water. But I have to say that it is helpful to be in good physical condition. I would highly recommend Tribu camp in Peniche.
