Shark’s Lodge

Great location right near the waves, but out of the way of the crowds in town. Gym, swimming pool were great. Lovely yoga instructor. Peaceful, get on with yourself vibe, but Paulo and Severin always around to help or chat to. My surfing improved immensely in one week thanks to good guidance and plenty of not too hard waves.

Our whole family ( teenage kids) felt very welcome from the first day, the stuff is always helpfull. Perfect place if you really want to surf and improve your skills, the surfinstructors are excellent, friendly and give a lot of feedback. You can just grab a board and walk to the beach, there are always waves nearby. We also joined the very nice Yogaclasses, SurfSkate ( so much fun), Mobility, played Tennis, relaxed at the pool, met a lot of nice people. Sharks lodge is a nice and quiet place, we went easiliy by Uber to the reastaurants and other beaches. We stayed for two weeks and never got bored. We highly recommend Sharks lodge and will definitely come back :-)

If you are seeking a surf lodge to advance your surf skills, relax and socialise in a friendly environment, then look no further! During an 8 day stay my surf skills improved significantly, I felt rejuvenated at the end and found the instructors and staff to be welcoming, friendly and good fun.

I would happily stay again and highly recommend this surf lodge.

The gracious hospitality of Paulo and the convenient modern accommodations of Shark’s Lodge with its idyllic views exceeded our expectations (and was budget friendly too!). Breakfast was simple, healthy & plentiful-just what we wanted before heading surfing; and the chance to bond over coffee with our surf instructors made the experience even more enjoyable.

The instruction from both Alejandro and Paulo helped us to enjoy success from the first wave, while the convenient access across the street from the dunes/beach path of Praia da Baia were amazing. The equipment (boards and wetsuits were first rate) was in great condition, and the whole experience was positive.

We had yoga each afternoon before dinner and the instructors Carlos and Florencia were excellent, tailoring our classes to our skill levels and preferences.

Our location gave us quick access to both Peniche and Ferrel for dining, and Paulo’s recommendations were exactly right for experiencing (and enjoying) local fare, sunrise and sunsets. If you have a car, touring Obidos Castle is a must, and we hope to visit the Berlengas Archipelago next visit.

The WSL surf championship on Praia dos Supertubos (a short walk away) was an especially unique experience due to the timing of our visit- great fun.

actually I really liked the family and friendly welcome, the tranquility I felt from breakfast to the surfing and yoga lessons, everything was perfect! the rooms are also spacious and new..

then really the structure is a 4 minute walk from the ocean you practically cross the road and see the sea!

Really good surfing infrastructure and equipment. In addition the instructors are very good and give always good advice to improve your surfing skills. Paulo and his staff are very friendly and give you a pleasant family atmosphere.

All in all, Great Experience!

I really enjoyed the stay in the Surfcamp. Paulo and his people offered a range of activities with high quality including Crossfit, Surfing, Yoga, Skating, Climbing and Kanu. The accomodation and breakfast were great. The time was full of joy, laughter, kidness and fun. I really can highly recommend to try it out! I'll come again for sure.

There are a lot of sport activities organised, which is super nice. But also the possibility to go exercise for yourself. It’s a little 5 minutes walk to the beach, which makes it a great location. The shops and restaurants are 5 minutes by car.

The surf classes were great and I learned a lot. But what made my trip the most were the people. The group was so much fun, different ages, different cultures, very welcoming from the start. I would definitely recommend this camp. It has a great vibe.

Belle découverte, grâce à Shark's Lodge, j'ai passé d'excellente vacances à Peniche. Le lieu est très bien située, les activités proposées sont au top et toujours dans la bonne humeur avec des coachs (surf, cross fit et yoga) souriants et compétents, le logement est moderne et ne manque de rien !

The crew is super available. The activities are very well organized, and the atmosphere that is provided is amazing ❤️

They offer a lot of activities that mix every day due to the weather and interest of people. The organisation is flexible and makes good measurement per person what they want or need. Its more focused on surfing then yoga but thats a given. Yoga teacher was creative and gave different yogalessons every day, depending on how the body felt. The surfing teachers were very dedicated to making you learn your own way, with humor and great knowledge! They also offer crossfit, workouts and climbing. Location and room was very clean and caring for ecosystem. They create a sort if short family-feeling while still being able to do your own thing. So glad I choose this place.

The surf camp is located in a calm, peaceful place, so the beach near the surf camp was great to learn and enjoy the surf with the instructor's guide.

With the well-prepared and clean accommodation, me and my friend pretty much enjoyed chilling and relaxing during the extra time. Also, the crews are all friendly and nice so I definitely recommend and want to go again.

Wir hatten die Möglichkeit, neben dem Surfen und Yoga, am Crossfit oder am Klettern teil zunehmen, Paulo hat uns ebenfalls das Skaten beigebracht. Paulo ist sehr engagiert und bringt einem sehr viel bei. Habe echt, grosse Fortschritte im Surfen gemacht. Die ganze Atmosphäre ist sehr entspannt.

Paulo and and his team are all really friendly and welcoming. They quickly work out where you’re at and tailor their actions to your needs. There was quite a diverse group with us and not one person got left behind or left out. I especially want to highlight one of the instructors Rui who is professional, friendly and best of all an amazing teacher. And also Luis who will bend over backwards to make your stay the best it can be, he has an indomitable upbeat spirit which is infectious and I’ll never forget my experience there because of these guys. The boss Paulo is also super friendly, generous and funny, he has a near encyclopaedic knowledge of Portuguese history and is happy to share it. I would highly recommend Shark lodge to anyone wishing for a genuine Portuguese surfing experience.

The accomodation was spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable the the breakfast was simple but more than enough (bread, eggs, fruit, cereal,...)

The location is close to the beaches for surfing (between 10-20 minutes walk) but to get to Peniche center it can take longer, having a car definitely helped.

The staff is very friendly and the instructor Albueno (not sure about the spelling) was really passionate, encouraging and patient with beginners, making sure that everyone can catch some waves. Overall it was a fun experience and great value for money.

I would like to underline surfing with Albano( one more teacher). I'm absolutely beginner with my fears about powerful ocean. He brought feeling of safety and enjoyment to the surfing.

Also I did like the Shark's Lodge as a spot. It has a spots for yoga, tennis, swimming pool and place to hangout with others.

One last,but not least it was yoga. Really nice to have some exercise after hard surfing morning.

Thanks to the flair of the Shark's Lodge team we felt very welcome. An awesome activity holyday with a lot of surprises and a clean environment. The surf lessons were varied, exciting and always accompanied by a very good atmosphere. The breakfast and the conversations were gold :). We loved the vibe and will come again for sure! Thanks to everyone, making this vacation special to us :)

The whole complex is great for an active surf holiday. The surf teachers are excellent and guide the students according to their level. The location is good, very close to a beach with consistent swell and between Peniche and Ferrel.

The surfing instructors was very professional, friendly, positive and open-minded.

Excellent yoga instructor. Responsive personal, delicious breakfasts and opportunity to have different other activities! Good equipment, boards, wet-suites.

The idea of the camp and activities. The place is nice. The bathroom is good.

The other guests were nice. Some of the staff were nice. The tennis court was okay. They did housekeeping every three days.

I had a brilliant week at Shark’s Lodge, the surf lessons really helped me to improve and Paulo and the other instructors are friendly, encouraging and a lot of fun. The vibe at the lodge is very warm and welcoming and gives everyone space to do what they want - whether it’s relaxing by the pool or keeping active.

Great location, amazing people, I even managed to stand on a surfboard!

My son and myself had the greatest time. Super team. Thanks Paulo, Séverine, Ricardo, Alice!! Even without any knowledge stand up on a surftable in the Atlantic Ocean on the first day is AMAZING (actually second day for me 😁). Totally recomendable 💪🏻🏄🏻‍♂️. We'll repeat for sure.

Sharks Lodge has the best, most welcoming and friendly staff out of anywhere I have ever stayed before. Everyone who works at Sharks Lodge, including the owners, work as a team to provide the best experience possible for all their guests; and it is definitely an experience they are achieving which is what I believe differentiates Sharks Lodge! I visited Sharks Lodge as a solo traveller and one of the owners at the Lodge made sure to personally introduce me to other solo travellers which definitely made the difference to my trip. The accommodation is not five star, but that is not what is important. It is the experience and fun which is important at Sharks Lodge! What is five star however is the food. Delicious and great value! The surf tuition is also excellent and the Lodge is a very short walk from the beach which is why I like the location so much. I couldn’t recommend it more and I will definitely be back. Thank you guys!!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Shark's Lodge! Carlos and Paulo are excellent surf instructors and make sure get the most out of each lesson. They have loads of experience and I learnt loads.

I stayed at Shark's Lodge during low season and all the staff made an extra special effort to make sure I had a great time despite staying on my own. They certainly went above and beyond! Paulo, Carlos, Severine and Ophelie (and Sally the dog) were fabulously welcoming and helpful.

Also, make sure you give the restaurant a try. The staff are super friendly and the food is delicious! Lovely open terrace for lunch after a mornings surf.

I'll definitely be going back when I get a chance.
