Avellanas is a surfer’s paradise. The white beach in front of the camp is surrounded by mangrove forests and is home to 5 surf breaks that can be surfed at all tides and offer waves for all levels. Not only they have spots that suit all abilities but water is about 27 degrees Celsius year-round making a wetsuit obsolete during the whole year. And since there are no crowds on our beach, you can enjoy brakes between surf sessions resting peacefully under a palm tree.

Surf lessons and guiding

No matter if you have stood on a board once or twice before, you plan all your travels around surfing the world, or you want to experience the feeling of riding a wave for the first time, Rapture Surf Camp's local surf guides know every break and will take you to the one that suits your level and offers perfect conditions for that day.

They’ll show you how to successfully pop on the board, how to progress from whitewater to green waves and how to enhance your existing skills, taking you from riding to ripping. Of course, they have boards of all shapes, sizes, and abilities you can rent at their school.

Every day, you will have a delicious daily breakfast. After that, you usually go surfing and then yoga classes to relax your body and soul. Once a week, there will be a beautiful bonfire. At the bar, you can enjoy a drink and chill with your friends.

Children policy

Please take note that it's not recommended to bring children to the camp during certain seasons. Children during high season months are not allowed as the camp's conditions do not favor their stay. For more information about this, please send an inquiry to Rapture Surf Camp.

The camp is located just 20-minute driving from Tamarindo, Costa Rica‘s party epicenter, yet the location is secluded in the middle of the jungle on a pristine white sand beach.

Hidden gems such as Playa Langosta, Playa Grande, and Playa Negra (mostly known from the surf movie Endless Summer II) are all accessible in minutes from camp. Rapture Surf Camp offers shuttle services and bike rentals if you want to explore the other surf spots in the area. Tamarindo is famous for being the party capital of the Guanacaste region.

In case you are in need of a major post-surfing fiesta, Rapture Surf Camp can organize a shuttle that will take you there in 20 minutes so you don’t have to worry about driving after a few drinks.

Rapture Surf Camp loves food almost as much as they love surfing. They offer international recipes as well as local specialties at the camps. Daily breakfast and dinner from Sunday - Thursday are included in the room rate. No need to worry about going hungry on your surf trip! Their menu contains a variety of dishes for meat lovers and vegetarians alike and they can accommodate all diets.

In addition to the countless bars and clubs, there are plenty of other things to discover in Tamarindo. You can go snorkeling or scuba diving and explore the colorful underwater life at the nearby reefs. Take a stroll at the big Palo Verde National Park or experience the high speeds of a zipline ride above the treetops of the jungle, swim beneath waterfalls at Llanos de Cortez and if you have skills on a skateboard, drop the skate bowl at Playa Negra.
