The Lodges is situated a stone’s throw from the spectacular Atlantic on Portugal's Silver Coast. They are a surfing family working together to make your stay as clean and safe, relaxed and easy as possible.
Peniche Surf Lodge 1 and 2 are very unique and versatile properties. There are 2 self-contained lodges close to each other and both across from the ocean in Peniche town and close to 4 large supermarkets, cafes/bars, and restaurants. Both lodges are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized daily in all shared and common areas and on request for private rooms. They have a professional cleaning plan in order to use the regulated cleaning products, to make your stay clean and safe!
Lodge 1
Across from the beautiful Papoa beach, amazing sunsets panoramic views and cliff walks. It is rented rooms, sharing the whole lodge's facilities. Suitable for solo travelers, couples, and friends up to 4. The upper floor has:
- A shared dorm/family room
- A private twin or double sharing 2 bathrooms
- Comfortable living room
- Large sunny kitchen with balcony
- The upper floor can be a private apartment (please enquire)
- All rooms have free Wi-Fi, cable tv, dehumidifiers, all linen is provided as well as beach towels on request.
- With the use of the fully equipped kitchen on the lower floor, the upper living room with a computer free to use, the larger fully equipped kitchen, sea view balconies and rear furnished patio with BBQ.

Peniche Surf Lodge has a great space for remote workers where they have total quiet in the daytime, the opportunity to get a lift to the best beach, and join the other guests for a surf and the beach camp. Peniche Surf Lodge aims to bring people from all over the world together with 3 things in common: love for the surf, meeting new people, respect for one another and spending amazing, fun and sun-filled days at the beach in this comfortable beach camp with parasols, cushions, and windbreaks, beach games, volleyball and bicycles. Together, you will search for the best waves each day in Peniche and the surrounding areas, make a comfortable beach camp, and stay and surf together for the day. The Peniche Surf Lodge team is always guiding, helping, and caring to make sure you get 100% from your surf trip with them!

Program highlights

- On arrival day you are not expected to join the lessons that day.
- The surf lessons will start at 09:00 daily
- If you are not booked in for a lesson on your arrival day, your course will start the next day.
- If you already know how to surf, you may be able to have a free surf in the afternoon.
- You MUST take extra dry clothes and underwear to wear after the surf in the vehicles. Peniche Surf Lodge does not allow any wet clothing in the vehicles. If you do this and wet the seats, there will be a penalty.
- Peniche Surf Lodge makes a protected beach camp for the day by a café with internet (low season weather depending)

Important information
- If you book an extra night,t they offer this at a discounted price and you gain an extra free surf day. Your lesson will be the day after your arrival or a day that we choose for you that is better for your ability.
Please do not expect to join lessons on your arrival day.

Duncan Hall
Duncan from Cornwall UK has 40 years surf experience. He lived in many exotic countries as a child. He has been living in Portugal for 14 years and has run the surf camp for 10 years. He had his first surfed Portugal experience when he was 17 years old. Afterward, he always came to Portugal on holiday for 5 months every year for 11 years 2 times a year. He really knows the best waves in Peniche and surrounding areas and he has excellent surf and board knowledge. He has worked with shapers for many years
Dane Hall
Dane was born in Cornwall UK and had family surf holidays for 11 years in Peniche and surrounding areas. He first surfed Portugal at 6 years old. He also surfed and competed in France Spain, and Portugal for 10 years. He surfed for the UK juniors team from 13 years old and joined WQS competitions up to 25 years old. He competed and trained all over the world. He now lives in Portugal and has been surfing Peniche for 20 years. He offers advanced coaching with video analysis as he has excellent wave and board knowledge.

Peniche is a hidden jewel in the crown of surfing in Portugal Europe. So being for its many different surf breaks within close proximity to each other that work on different winds and swells. Peniche is one of the most westerly points of Europe, because it has no continental shelf it acts as a swell magnet towards any movement generated from the beautiful Atlantic coast, so it accommodates all levels of surfing ability from beginners, intermediates up to advanced and Pros.
With its variety of waves including the gentle clean beginner wave up to powerful perfect tubing barrels at Supertubos home now for many years hosting the RipCurl Pro, a fantastic event in which all the family can be entertained by watching the world’s most famous Pro surfers battle against each other to obtain the glory of the world title.
As Peniche is a peninsula, hence the name means this, was once an island due to this, it has many sheltered beaches facing different directions to catch all swell conditions suitable for all levels and offers beach reef and point breaks. Peniche is not only the place to go surfing the variety of waves, but also are the surrounding towns and villages, for example, but Nazaré, which has now become famous for its record-breaking 100ft monster waves, a great family day out you may also even see some tow surfing in action with the right swell forecast it’s only 30 minutes drive from the lodge and is a very beautiful town to visit and buy some souvenirs.
Peniche Surf Lodge often visits Nazaré and other surf spots and towns on their surf safari days with the lodge, these include a variety up the North Coast, Foz de Arelho, Ericeira and many more.

Papoa Reef
Situated just outside the Peniche Surf Lodge front doorstep. A mellow left and right-hand reef break is for most levels of surfing, channel paddle out with minimal rip currents makes for a safe and easy spot to practice your basic surfing. Works best with E wind and W swell. Perfect for intermediate level.
Supertubos
The infamous and highly dangerous wave of Supertubos comes from deep waters to break on shallow sandbanks with a huge tubing wave, left and right peeling, this wave is for advanced surfers only. Works best with NW swell and NE wind.
Lagido
Located in Baleal, the long left-hand reef break of Lagido is user-friendly for most levels of surf, unless it's low tide which can be dangerous because of the sea urchins. Works best with S wind N swell.
Middle of the Bay
This long stretch of beach starting from Peniche all the way to Baleal has many peaks on offer all the way along, with the minimal crowd the further to the middle you go, long soft waves mainly for beginners to intermediate. Works best with SE wind and N swell.
Pico de Mota
A high-performance beach break to the north of Baleal, offers up tubes and fun peaky waves for all types of surfing levels. Works best wind is E with N swell.
Molhe Leste
A hollow wedgy right-hand-breaking wave on the north side of Supertubos next to the harbor wall. Works best with an N wind W swell and is suitable for intermediate to advanced surfers, beware of the local bodyboarders as crowds get this there.
