The location, Playa Los Angeles, was definitely a highlight. It's a gem, very different from the very crowded beaches you can find in Tairona a couple of kilometers further. The organization of the trip was great. Carlos, the surf instructor, was waiting for me at the airport, though the schedules of my flight changed a bit. I really enjoyed the surf classes. First time though, so I got a little bit frustrated that I didn't manage to stand up. If you're a very beginner like me, you might want to consider another destination to learn how to surf. There is little time between the waves and the waters get deep very close to the shore, so you get quickly tired 'cause you're paddling most of the time and the waves are pretty strong. So try Costa Rica instead, I've been told it's way smoother ! However, Carlos totally knows the ocean and what he is doing, so I've always felt safe. He'd pick the beach according to my level and the weather conditions. The lessons are very practical. But well, that is on the black slope you learn how to ski, right ? I'm very fond of the "learning by doing" but sometimes I wish I did get some more insights about the techniques.
The staff at the Playa Los Angeles are the loveliest people and they know how to make you feel at home right away. The food from the restaurant is absolutely delicious (go for the camarones al ajillo !)
