Program
Surf 365 days per year
On five days per week, the experienced surf guides will bring you to over a dozen nearly empty surf spots, all within a 10-minute drive. The lessons will be from Monday to Saturday, with two sessions per day from Monday to Friday, and one session on Saturday.
The local surf instructors speak English and literally grew up in Medewi’s waves. They really know the ocean like the back of their hands so they will always pick the best spot, according to conditions and your surfing skills. Groups are kept small to ensure there will always be a surf guide with you in the water to look after you and coach you.
Duck dive
The surf coaches teach you in a small group the basic steps of surfing not only in theory but also safety in the water, the right paddle technique, and how to catch and take off and turn on your first green waves. Daily spot transfers to the waves around Medewi in the Medewi Surf School vans are included.
Location
Stay right at the surf beach
The Brown Sugar Surf School is located in the fishing village of Medewi on Bali’s west coast, where you won’t see crowded waves like you will find them in Kuta with its mass tourism and brash hawkers. At Brown Sugar, you will get exactly what you came to Bali for, which is waves.
There are lots of waves, left and right-handers, beach, point, and reef breaks, and waves for beginners, intermediates, and advanced surfers. You will surf well-known spots like Medewi Point (Bali’s longest left), Diva, Truckstop, and Balian as well as numerous secret spots, which are reserved for Brown Sugar's guests.
Bali, the famed island of the gods, truly is a paradise on Earth. The rich, deeply spiritual, and unique culture, as well as its diverse landscape of mountains and sandy beaches, lush green rice fields, and sparse volcanoes is unrivaled.
Countless stunningly beautiful Hindu temples are landmarks of this divine island, which has held on to its Hindu roots firmly. Add to this the unmatched wholehearted hospitality of the Balinese people, an abundance of culinary delights, and a happy tropical vibe and you will never want to leave.
On top of this, Bali has another asset in store, which makes it an excellent surf travel destination: first-class surfing conditions all year round! With its constant waves and countless surf spots, Bali is the ideal destination for your next surf trip, whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced surfer. And here’s the best part, you can leave your wetsuit at home because, in Bali, you surf in board shorts or a bikini all year long.
