Find and compare 114+ surf camps and holidays in Bali

Bali is known as one of the best places in the world to surf. When you're a beginning surfer, some of these waves could be a bit too challenging, but no worries, you can easily book a surf camp outside of peak season, as Bali has great beginner waves all year round. Choose your favorite surf camps in Bali and combine them with side activities as yoga, detox, or cooking classes, as the island is not only known for its swell but is also known as a wellness hub.

What is the best time to surf in Bali?

Bali is situated on the equator and is surrounded by warm ocean currents and therefore warm to humid year-round. There are two distinct tropical seasons, the wet season and the much cooler dry season that both impact the surfing conditions. For surfers, the best time to go to Bali is during the Dry Season (May to September) when the famous waves of Uluwatu, Padang Padang, Canggu, and Impossibles are at their best. Basically, you can find good waves on the southwest and south of the island in this season. During the Wet Season (December to April), the swells increase on the east side of the island, around Sanur, making better waves in the warmer waters.

Why you should book your surf camp in Bali

Bali is a surf paradise! And what makes Bali so unique for learning how to surf? In most places, you’ll get your own one-on-one teacher in the water helping you to conquer those first waves, compared to the large group lessons offered in other countries. This one-on-one guidance is perfect for beginners and gives you a head start in becoming a pro!

What are the best surf spots in Bali?

  • Padang Padang: approved for pro surfers only, this spot is epic for its long and hollow wave
  • Uluwatu: known as the most famous wave of Bali, it’s perfect for advanced surfers
  • Balangan: ideal for all surf levels, Balangan offers easy waves fit for anyone
  • Balian: looking for a more quiet surf spot suitable for all levels? Then Balian is for you!
  • Seminyak: as one of the more luxurious seaside towns, Seminyak offers a great variety of yoga and surf camps to both relax and catch a wave. With dozens of shifting sand bars, Seminyak has a stretch double the size of Kuta. With plenty of swells, the waters of Seminyak are perfect for beginning surfers, as there’s no danger from the reefs and the currents are not too strong.
  • Canggu: hot and happening! Canggu is the latest surf hotspot on the island with a good surfers vibe, instagrammable food, and trendy beach bars. The three reef and sand breaks near the beach are suiting both beginning and advanced surfers.
  • Kuta: a great spot for beginners. These long stretched beaches in combination with crazy nightlife, make the perfect spot for your surf camp! While the smaller waves close to the shore are perfect for beginners, the waves about 800 meters offshore at Kuta Reef are world class lefthanders attracting many experienced surfers from around the world!
