On the first day, at 8:00 a.m., a yummy breakfast will be provided on the rooftop terrace. Lahcen, the instructor, arranges transportation to the location where the lessons take place.
You arrive at the kite place around 10:00 a.m. and begin the activity. The instructor will inform you about the wind conditions, the location, and the safety precautions. The first kitesurf lesson begins at 10:30 a.m. To begin, the certified instructor will teach you the fundamentals of the most critical component that makes kitesurfing possible:
- Wind: wind strength, direction, and quality
- Kite equipment: an introduction to kite equipment and how to set it up for use
- Wind window: The definition of the kite's flying zone
- Safety: When and how you use the safety tools provided
Control of the kite
When you first meet the kite, you will learn how to fly it and land it safely (both hands on the bar). You will discover how to keep the kite stable in the air (with both hands and one hand on the bar).
Walking the kite
You learn how to walk to the water while controlling your kite with one hand only (so you can carry your board with the other hand).
Time for a break
Lunch and drinks on the beach, followed by a short break before heading out to the water for the afternoon kite lesson, which begins at 3:00 p.m. The second kite surf lesson will take place in the water.
Relaunch of the kite
When your kite falls in the water, you learn how to relaunch it.
Body drag downwind
You learn to put your kite-flying skills to good use. You discover how and where to fly the kite in the wind window and generate enough power to drag yourself through the water, increasing self-assurance.
Body drag across the wind
Teaches you how to get back your board if you lose it from your feet while trying to ride your first meters.
Water start
In this exercise, you will learn how to put the board on and off while maintaining good kite control. How to use your kite flying skills to take off and start riding your first meters on the board. And of course, you celebrate every little step forward.
