During your tour, you will visit some of the most attractive areas in the Maldives. The tour will include the most amazing locations of South Atolls, such as Blue Bowls, the Beacons, Casterwave, Thinadoo Cafe Break, Lips Surf Break, the Five Islands, Love Charms, Tiger Stripes, and Gan. Huvadhoo Atoll (South of Maldives) is a great itinerary and atmosphere away from the crowd to provide quality surf. The surf spots are closer to each other. The surf and swell have been very consistent (three to six feet of waves). It is better than other locations in Male or Central Atolls.
One of the main reasons that you should surf in Huvadhoo is because it is uncrowded. Hardly two to three boats are seen in this atoll. Sometimes one or two. The best thing about Huvadhoo is that all the surf breaks are nearby. You do not have to travel five hours to reach the next surf break. All the breaks in Huvadhoo are half an hour away unlike in the Malé region.
Huvadhoo is not only filled with amazing surf breaks but is also filled with tons of sandbanks. In the Malé region, you have to travel five hours to go to a sandbank while you can locate five to eight sandbanks within a distance of 20 to 40 minutes. There are both, big and small sandbanks. This alone makes Huvadhoo an ultimate surfing destination.
Huvadhoo has one of the best waves in Maldives and is less crowded. You can get to enjoy many surf breaks as all the surf breaks in Huvadhoo are nearby.
Besides surfing, there are plenty of sandbanks to visit. The crew will take you to do on island hopping. Barbecue at sandbank sounds like a lovely idea.
Since a clean southern swell is about all you could ask for at these breaks, the result is waves with a ton of power and heaps of opportunities to get shacked. These southerly atolls differ from the northerly atolls in not providing perfectly shaped or soft-breaking waves. These waves break fast and throw hard, with a whole lot of power, probably best suited for advanced surfers or at least daring intermediates. The waves you will find in the southern Atolls are the kind of waves you keep reliving days, weeks, and months after your Maldives surf trip has come to an end.
South Atolls still remain the last frontier on surf trips. This is one of the most remote areas on the planet, where charter boats are the only form of access, making this an exclusive and relatively expensive surf trip. The Huvadhoo referred often to as the Southern Atolls, is located in the most southern section of the Maldives, which surfers are continually reminded of when they arrive upon empty surf break, after empty surf break.
Although it may not be completely abandoned, fewer surf boats and surf charters operate in this area, causing even the most popular spots in this region to be less crowded than the Northern Atolls. Of all the Maldives surf spots, the breaks in the southern Atolls remain among the most secluded and idyllic, preserving the reality of a remote island paradise that comes complete with incredible waves. Huvadhoo Atoll is best known for Beacons, Castaways, and Tiger Stripes.
Beacons and Tiger Stripes are two of the most powerful waves in the Maldives, barreling down fast and hard onto a fringed shallow reef, a common feature of southern surf spots, for advanced surfers only. Just remember that swells will break down the reef, but a southeast swell will create peaks slamming straight onto close-out sections of coral.
Voodoos or Blue Bowls is a very long right-hander, very exciting, especially at four to six feet, and protected from southwest-west winds. This wave is surfable all the time, all swells, all tides, and all sizes. It is a good length for an easy ride and has nice sections for some moves.
Five Islands or Gani Point is another right-hander, protected from the south-southwest winds. A hollow wave breaks hard on a shallow inside the reef and it is better to surf at mid-high tide. This is maybe the wave that handles the biggest swells at all tides.
Love Charms are right next to Two Ways and are working on any swell size. This wave can be surfed at every tide and handles different wind directions, but the best conditions occur when it is small in size, low tide, and with east winds. It has a beautiful long wave, with two sections, the take-off on the hollow wall and some little nice tubes at the inside section.
Tiger Stripes or Rockets is a fun left-hander, not very hollow, but with long workable walls and a complicated take-off into a long speedy wall, before presenting an inside tube section that gets smooth and breaks out easily in the channel. Very consistent and can be surfed at all tides. Best conditions with west-northwest winds. This is a simple and neglected wave when small, but can be really challenging in a strong swell.
You will be served daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner; tea and coffee throughout the day; a mineral water bottle per person per day (mineral water dispenser available); one beer or soft drink for lunch and dinner per person per day included in the price. You will enjoy eating on the front deck, in the breathtaking scenery and fresh air, or even in the indoor dining room.
You will enjoy full board meals which include breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with desserts. A delicious and wide range of food will be available and food can be prepared as per your special requests. For drinks, you will be having complimentary tea, coffee, and mineral water will always be available on board. For birthdays and special occasions, the Horizon II provides tasty flavored cakes.
