About kitesurfing

Kitesurfing is an extreme sport that uses a specially designed kite to harness the power of the wind and glide across the water on a board - whether twin-tip, directional, or foil. Because of its nature, it requires professional and safe instruction. At Yuckite, students learn from instructors certified by the International Kiteboarding Organization (I.K.O.) and trained to international safety and teaching standards.

Each lesson is private, with personalized equipment and attention, allowing you to progress at your own pace and ensuring faster, more effective learning. On average, 10 to 12 hours of training (in sessions of two to four hours per day) are needed to become an independent and confident rider. They always maintain a one-student-to-one-instructor ratio, so each participant keeps an individual schedule and progress plan.

Level 1 - Discovery

  • Duration: two and a half hours approximately

In this first stage, you will learn how to safely control the kite and understand the essential foundations of kitesurfing. You will learn to:

  • Assess the location and wind conditions before navigating
  • Assemble and use the equipment, including all safety systems
  • Pilot the kite on land, from basic to advanced control
  • Take off and land the kite correctly, and assist others
  • Walk with the kite steadily when entering or exiting the water
  • Practice and master the safety systems
  • Perform an autonomous landing without help
  • Pack and store your equipment properly for durability

Goal: Gain full control of the kite before entering the water - safely and confidently.

Level 2 - Intermediate: Safety procedures and the first riding

  • Duration: three hours approximately

At this stage, you will start using the board and experience your first rides on the water, while reinforcing key safety techniques. You will practice:

  • Water relaunch: lift your kite after a fall and keep riding confidently
  • Board recovery: manage the kite while retrieving your board after a fall
  • Self-rescue: use your kite as a sail and flotation device to return safely to shore
  • Steady pull and waterstart: learn controlled traction and how to start from the water
  • Controlled stopping: manage your speed and stop safely

Goal: Achieve basic autonomy and control in the water.

Level 3 - Independent: Advanced riding skills

  • Duration: five and a half hours approximately

In this level, you will refine your riding technique using the edge of the board to steer and control speed. You will learn:

  • To ride upwind (ceñida) effectively
  • To perform smooth transitions between directions
  • To repeat the self-rescue procedure in deep water
  • (Advanced riders) practice self-launching - taking off the kite solo and safely

Goal: Become an independent kitesurfer with full control and confidence on the water.
