The staff were very friendly and helpful. The environment was friendly. I met many interesting people and enjoyed hanging out with them at the "hotel's restaurant." It was a casual and inviting atmosphere.
The Extreme Hotel is more like hostel than a hotel. I was okay with the downscale and eco friendly environment except when it was really hot and hard to sleep at night without air conditioning. The environment was more for sports and fitness crowd. Yoga loft was beautiful but the classes and instructors seemed like an after thought not a focus. Some of the instructors were great. There were some lovely practices.
Also the food was kind of hit and miss. I loved the staff. They were all very sweet. Occasionally, portions were too small, especially since brunch was at 11:30 and dinner wasn't until 7:30. I was hungry. Some of the food was delicious. I loved the sushi rolls. I think I would forgo the food package and order off the menu.

This was my first solo travel so I was a little anxious about it. However, at the Extreme Hotel you feel truly welcome and relaxed. Everyone is very friendly and the environment is conducive to interaction.
I booked just one week but would loved to have stayed at least one more week. I can't wait to go back. It's not a tourist environment, very chill and unpretentious.

If you are traveling on your own then go straight here. A host of new friends and activities await. Although the hotel is quite basic it is clean and functional and has lots of activities and a friendly staff that make you feel instantly at home and at ease. This is an awesome place for singles or groups. The rooms are clean and comfortable. There beachside restaurant serves amazing food and the activities on site range from kite surfing, yoga, a full gym, circus and trapeze, SUP, surfing, horseback riding and just plain fun hanging out at the communal table and making new friends! Cant wait to go back!
Go with a open heart and a open mind and you'll have an amazing time. Extreme will embrace you !!!! .Fabulous sense of community, wonderful staff, fantastic yoga loft and quite possibly the best gym in the world. You'll leave a better person spiritually, mentally and physically!!!!!

I had been looking for a place away from home where I would be able to do crossfit and yoga over the holidays and I found the perfect place. Extreme Hotel offered the basic accommodation we needed, a clean room with a nice balcony and a fridge. I stayed for seven days. I love the environmentally-friendly approach the hotel has to everything from being solar powered, to not going overboard with unnecessary daily cleanings etc. The hotel is one of the only ones in the area directly on the beach and the best kite-surfing spot. The restaurant offers great views of the surf as well as amazing and creative food choices from local resources - mainly their own organic farm that you can tour. The staff is extremely helpful with every need and goes out of their way to make your stay as individualized and perfect for you as possible. This is true for the restaurant, the hotel, the yoga and the crossfire gym. And overall you have a wonderful and welcoming atmosphere that helps make you feel at home and forget about your stress right away. Vicky, the hotel manager is ready to help anytime with organizing tours and information about anything you want. Zach and Jeremy are very knowledgeable and motivating coaches that will make it fun to work out during your vacation. The small gym has everything you need to do workouts on any level and for any preference and private coaching sessions are available - and I would highly recommend it as I learned a lot! Sophia & Peter, the yoga teachers have different styles and compliment each other perfectly so that you get to experience a wide spectrum of what yoga can do for you - no matter if you are a beginner or advanced practitioner. My husband started kite surfing here and had a great experience with the flexibility and knowledgeability of their staff. The stay, as well as the food classes and trips, are very reasonably priced - especially given the quality you get for your money. I am not a traveler who comes back to the same place twice as there is too much to experience in this world... but I think Extreme Hotel may be the exception and become a regular retreat for me to recharge my batteries. Thank you to the whole team! We travelled in December 2016.

First time every staying at an eco hotel. Appreciate the green living perspective. Rooms were comfortable even without AC. Though it rained like the locals have never seen before they kept the place clean and dry for the guests. Best yoga experience. How can you not get your zen on listing to the waves and enjoying fresh sea air. Instructors were great several different types of yoga practices. Lucked out and had my own private lesson since my travel companions skipped class one evening. Restaurant food was delicious. Everything from burgers to pasta to Italian to sushi. Learned a lot about local living and Dominican time, moto's and taxi's
I stayed here for 7 nights during the month of November 2016. The food from the restaurant is mostly farm-to-table from a local organic farm and everything was absolutely fabulous. Selections ranged from local favorites to Italian to sushi and all was done amazingly well. The smoothies were fresh and delicious as well. The fitness classes were offered several times a day and while I was there I took two classes with Zack. He did a great job explaining the TRX moves to a group of newbies to that type of exercise and during the Sweat class, he was very helpful in adjusting the class for the people that attended that day. Yoga in the loft was peaceful and the sound of the waves enhanced the entire experience. I also took the trapeze classes. It was something I never thought I'd have the chance to do, and with the help of the instructors, I had a great time! Keep in mind that this is an eco-hotel so the accommodations are minimalist. Each room has decently comfortable beds with linens, thin towels, drinking water, a mini fridge, and a safe. The hotel runs on solar power so no AC, but the ceiling fan and screen door created a nice breeze. Housekeeping only comes a few times a week (not every day). No TV, but you can grab and trade books from the shelves in the lobby, and hopefully will be too tired from working out/adventures to feel like you need it. Wifi was available but was sometimes spotty. The atmosphere of the hotel is similar to a hostel- everyone is friendly and will sit and talk or eat with you. I met travelers from all over the world! I highly recommend this to someone looking for an active travel opportunity.

I traveled to Cabarete and participated in various gym classes at the Extreme Hotel Gym. Want to highlight one of the classes cross fit classes with trainer Jeremy. His session was awesome and Jeremy is one heck of a trainer. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in fitness.
I really enjoy the beach/easy-going vibe of this gym, the people working there are really helpful, and its perfectly located; close to Encuentro the surf spot and Kitebeach the kite spot. This really makes it easy to get a fast workout in after a good surf or kite session. The gym members are a perfect mix of locals and tourists blending together, but its never too crowded. The yoga loft, beach bar, and pool really complement the gym perfectly.

I visited Cabarete, DR recently and found the coolest gym ever! Rogue fitness is the gym you have been dreaming of. They have tons of equiptment like TRX, Bounce weights, Racks, Dumb bells and it all comes together with the trainers. Zach gives off the best vibes and is over flowing with knowledge from crossfit to extreme yoga. If your looking for a get-a-way that will challenge you and relax you at the same time, this is the place!!
Awesome gym with super friendly staff! Their classes are hard yet super fun with really knowledgeable instructors that will help you with whatever you need. Zach and Jeremy know what they are doing! A good bonus is that you get cooled down by the ocean breeze as you are working out! My favorite gym in the world!!

What more can one ask for? OK good Karma and you will get it when you visit. I came for the Kite surfing, which is excellent, swam every morning, did yoga, visited the farm, ate at the restaurant, supported the artists, walked the beach, and met the most conscious people at the extreme hotel.

Molly is an amazing yoga teacher. She is very hands on and will correct your form or encourage you further into a pose. In just my few practices with her while on vacation, she helped me discover my length and put me in my first headstand. Thanks!

My daily routine for 1 month at Extreme Hotel: Wake up. Look out the window to check the wind. It's only 9am and the flags are already moving, sweet. Wander 50 steps over to the yoga studio overlooking the ocean. Stretch and breath. Mind is clear and soul is at ease. Wander 10 steps to eat some yummy breakfast. Chat with friends. Walk 5 steps. Pump up a kite and enjoy a few hours of beautiful kite surfing. Land the kite. Eat yummy lunch. Chat with friends. Launch the kite. Try new kite skills. Watch the sunset while skimming across the ocean. Land the kite. Enjoy sunset beers with friends. Discuss evening plans. Meetup and take a motorcycle to dinner at 1 of the many delicious spots around town. Drink and dance the night away. Repeat. I will be back.

A unique and quality property in a wonderful North Coast Town. The rooms are very basic yet clean and more than adequate, with ceiling fans, and a nice balcony. There are so many activities to chose from, all on-site and high quality, trapeze, pool, yoga studio and fitness area, all before the amazing beach action, kite surfing of the highest quality, superb teachers, and professionals to watch and emulate. Whatever your desire, the activities will live up to your standards. The restaurant has been undergoing renovation and improvements and is wonderful, I only wish it was open longer, closes at 4 p.m., perhaps later in the year. Overall a great value in a superb location on the wonderful North Coast.

I stayed with a friend of mine at the Extreme hotel over Memorial Day weekend. I was focused on just regular surfing; she was focused on surfing and kite surfing. The place is a sort of compound of different sports, including a cross fit gym, kite surfing, trapeze, yoga studio, and farm. The price was extremely reasonable, the service was efficient and friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable enough, and the people were fun and social. It's a very supportive environment for someone looking for an active vacation, and I look forward to visiting again next year!

As an aspiring flying trapeze artist, I was looking for a getaway that didn't interrupt my training. Extreme Hotel turned out to be the perfect balance. With a flying trapeze rig (and awesome staff), aerial apparatus of all kinds, a top notch crossfit gym, a yoga studio overlooking the beach, and all of the downtime one could desire, this hotel met every expectation and, quite possibly, ruined future hotels in my mind! This hotel is not for someone who considers a hotel without room service as camping. The hotel itself is very spartan in a very good way. There is a fridge and water cooler in each room, a decent sized bathroom, shower, and closet, and not much else. In my humble opinion, this is perfect. It encouraged us to sleep in our room and not much else (although they did have wifi, which allowed us to keep our friends jealous with constant facebook photos). We spent the rest of our time exploring the amazing beaches, eating at the hotel restaurant, and basking in the amazing weather by the pool, when we weren't training, of course! We spent 11 days at Extreme Hotel, and would gladly stay and / or go back for more.
