Accommodation

Sheddie Deluxe

The Sheddie Deluxe is a cozy double accommodation that they've had at Surfcamp Zarautz for years now. You can choose between twin beds or a double bed! It also offers plenty of storage space, allows you to easily unpack and change next to each other, and provides a wonderful place to relax during your surfing holiday in Spain and after a long surf session.

The Sheddie Deluxe sleeps up to two people. Mattresses are provided. For a small additional fee, you can rent a bedding package (pillow, blanket, fitted sheet, and duvet cover) for the surf camp. If you don't want this, we recommend bringing your own sheet, sleeping bag or blanket, and a pillow.

Tent

The comfortable and spacious tents at Zarautz Surf Camp sleep four people, and each consists of two double compartments. They're the perfect option for surfing in Spain with a group of friends. The front half of the tent has a groundsheet and serves as luggage storage for all residents of this 18+ surf camp. The tents are not equipped with a mattress, so you'll need to bring your own air mattress, sleeping bag, and pillow for your surfing holiday in Spain.

Program

The surf camp for your surfing holiday in Spain!

Surfcamp Zarautz literally offers you the best of both worlds: a relaxed camp set in a green setting, just a 5-minute walk from the sea. At the same time, you're just a short stroll from the center of Zarautz, where you'll find everything you need: countless shops, tapas bars, cafés, restaurants, and a vibrant nightlife.

The beautiful Surfcamp Zarautz has a cozy bar and is exclusively for adults (18+). Learning to surf in Spain is fantastic in this beautiful bay, suitable for both beginners and intermediate surfers. Thanks to the geographical location of the Bay of Zarautz, you never have to worry about currents, and the waves often roll in beautifully, making it perfect for your surfing holiday in Spain!

Surfing lessons

Surfing in Spain is fun, but it's even more fun if you know what you're doing! That's why they offer lessons with their certified surf instructors. These men and women have undergone intensive training and can teach you surfing safely and responsibly during your surfing holiday in Spain. They'll teach you everything about the ocean, the beach, equipment, and surfing technique. You can choose between three or five days of surf lessons, and each lesson lasts 1.5 hours.

Surfing equipment is included in the surf lessons, so you'll receive a wetsuit and a surfboard suitable for your level. If you'd like to use the equipment outside of the surf lessons, please select the additional Rental option.

Surf spots

1. Zarautz

Surf Camp Zarautz is a beautiful spot for surfing in Spain. The bay is surrounded by hilly terrain, providing magnificent views. The waves are also great! The waves aren't usually too big during the summer, making them ideal for learning to surf or longboard. There are two very different breaks. You can surf right in front of the surf camp's beach entrance. This is the shortest walk and perfect for starting. So, if you're a beginner, this is the best surf spot to start your surfing holiday in Spain. If you walk a little further past the swimming zone, you'll also find excellent waves there. This surf spot is where Zarautz locals surf most often, and the waves are slightly bigger than those right in front of the surf camp's beach entrance.

2. Playa Gris:

About a five-minute drive from Zarautz lies the world-famous surf spot, Playa Gris. This surf spot is known as the real big-wave surfing spot in Spain. In winter, towering waves arrive here, but in summer, they're quite manageable. The surf spot catches a bit more swell than right in front of the surf camp, and therefore, the waves there are generally slightly larger. From Playa Gris, you can also see the famous surf spot Roka-Puta, a must-see during your surfing holiday in Spain.

3. San Sebastian (Zurriola):

A fifteen-minute drive from Surfblend Surfcamp Zarautz lies the tapas capital of the Basque Country: San Sebastian. Besides enjoying outdoor dining, drinks, and shopping, you can also simply go there for a great surf session during your surfing holiday in Spain! Zurriola beach is therefore also well-known. Here too, the swell arrives slightly larger, giving you a chance for slightly larger waves than right by Surfcamp Zarautz. But also to start with, besides being the spot for the Zarautz surf camp, it is the perfect surf spot to learn to surf in Spain.

Location

Environment

Surfcamp Zarautz in Spain is located just west of the world-famous city of San Sebastian and is often considered its little brother. And for good reason, because just like San Sebastian, Zarautz offers not only excellent surf spots, but also a fantastic nightlife and culinary delights in the form of tapas bars and sidrerias. A real bonus for a surfing holiday in Spain.

In the center of Zarautz, you'll find the well-known Pukas Surf Shop, trendy burger joints, traditional and modern tapas bars, and countless shops. You can also count on a wide variety of bars on and just behind the promenade that stay open until the early hours. Especially on weekends, it's a huge party, and Surfblend ensures you can party in the right bars. This makes Surfcamp Zarautz the perfect location for an adult surf camp in Spain.

Tips from the local

1. The Hill

Surfblend organizes a weekly "sunset chill on the hill" event, but it's definitely worth hiking up the hill more often. You'll have stunning views of Zarautz, Getaria, the cliffs, and the sea—the perfect spot for a photo shoot to capture your surfing holiday in Spain with Surfblend.

2. Boulevard and diving boards

After surfing, explore the promenade and diving boards. The promenade begins where the path from the Zarautz surf camp to the beach ends and leads you straight into the center of Zarautz. Meanwhile, it's best to stop at one of the first bars and buy a drink, then take it to the skate park to watch the tricks of the area's best skaters. Then, walk on, buy an ice cream at one of the many ice cream bars, and head further into the center for some shopping or a fantastic meal! That's what I call enjoying your surfing holiday in Spain.

Looking for something different to do besides surfing in Zarautz? Try the diving boards at the end of the promenade and dive into the sea from great heights.

3. Culinary highlights:

Basque cuisine is known and acclaimed worldwide, and for good reason. They highly recommend popping into a tapas bar at least once during your surfing holiday in Spain and letting loose. Order a plate (plata) and choose various appetizers from the bar or kitchen. To complete the experience, order a Rioja (red wine). After enjoying your meal, tell the bartender what you've had and what you've drunk, and pay. Everything is done in good faith.

The sidrerias, large restaurants where they make their own cider, are also famous. You can sample various varieties, often served straight from the barrel. Most people order the famous Txuleta, gigantic steaks that you share with your table companions, which you all deserve after a full day of surfing in Spain.

Complete your surfing holiday in Spain with these excursions, and you will have an unforgettable time.

Food

On a surfing holiday in Spain, all you want to think about is surfing, partying, chilling, and having fun with friends. Grocery shopping and cooking are time-consuming and often very expensive. That's why they've created an excellent half-board package for Surfcamp Zarautz, including breakfast daily and dinner. This way, you'll have plenty of energy to fully enjoy your surfing holiday in Spain.

To ensure you're ready for some serious surfing in Spain, Surfblend provides a breakfast buffet every morning. Enjoy a baguette with a variety of toppings, a pain au chocolat, and a delicious cup of coffee or tea. You can also choose from a variety of cereals and a fresh piece of fruit. Dinners consist of a fresh meal paired with a fresh salad and dressing. Once a week, we organize a large BBQ at Surfcamp Zarautz!
