Accommodation
Deluxe rooms with private bathroom
Surfbase Loredo offers deluxe rooms for 2 people and 4 people. These comfortable rooms are suitable for two people and differ from the standard rooms in that they have a private bathroom. Sheets, pillows, and blankets are also provided. Perfect for couples and small groups who want a little more privacy than our cozy dorm, yet still a bit more luxury than a surf camp.
2-person rooms have a double bed, and 4-person rooms offer a double bed and a bunk bed.
Standard rooms
Unlike Deluxe rooms, standard rooms share a bathroom with other rooms. A maximum of two rooms share a bathroom. Standard rooms are available in a 3-person and a 4-person configuration.
The 3-person room has a double bed and a single bed above it; the 4-person room has a bunk bed and a double bed. Perfect for small groups, but also very affordable, suitable for couples or groups of three. Nice and flexible! Of course, pillows, blankets, and sheets are included.
Dorm, shared room
In the dorm, you'll share a room with up to six fun, like-minded guests who, like you, are looking forward to a fantastic surf holiday. The rooms are furnished with comfortable bunk beds, ideal for both solo travelers and small groups of friends. Sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels are, of course, included! Each dorm has its own bathroom.

Surfbase
Surfbase Loredo is the coolest surf hostel in Spain for 18+, located in Loredo on the beautiful bay of Santander. This is the perfect destination for anyone who wants the friendly atmosphere of a surf camp, but in a more intimate, intimate surf house setting, all without tents. Ideal for both group holidays with friends and solo travelers.
Surfbase is located in the center of Loredo, right on the beach, the skate park, and close to all the action. The surf house is run by the Surfblend team, and in addition to a daily breakfast, we offer a varied program, including city trips to Santander, a boat party, and fun activities like a wine & cheese night!
The surf house offers several rooms and a cozy, large garden. Here you'll find the bar, surf room, terrace with ping-pong, lookout tower for checking the waves, and hammocks for relaxing. Inside, you'll find bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as a small living room. Right outside the door is a PumpTrack skate park, and there are bars within walking distance. Somo is also a short walk away, and Santander is a quick ferry ride away!

Surf lessons
Is this your first surfing experience, or do you want to improve your skills? They offer various surf lesson packages to help you progress quickly. Their lessons are taught by experienced, certified surf instructors, and we use top-notch surf gear.
Beginner or Intermediate?
Choose the lesson level that suits you. For a first introduction to surfing, they recommend the beginner lessons. Do you already have some surfing experience (e.g., a week of surf camp) and want extra tips from coaches who will join you in the water? Then choose the intermediate lessons.
Small or medium package?
The Small Package consists of 3 lessons and is ideal for a first introduction. Want to really master the technique? Then the Medium Package of 5 lessons is recommended. Surfing lessons include the use of surf equipment.
Surf spots
Loredo is located on the bay of Somo, overlooking the impressive city of Santander. The bay is fantastic for surfing and one of Spain's "swell magnets," a spot where the waves break first. It's part of Ribamontán al Mar, a true surfing reserve in northern Spain. Below, you'll find the top spots!
Loredo and Somo
It's no coincidence that they've had surf camps here for years, and now they also have Surfbase, a favorite spot of the Surfblend team. The bay is beautifully oriented to the west, making it very consistent. The waves will be the smallest and friendliest at the far end of the bay, while the pros will be in the middle, near the large rock on the beach!
Langre
A beautiful bay just off Loredo. A lovely shelter from strong westerly winds and definitely a must-see for a day trip. Here you'll experience authentic Northern Spain.
Ajo
A little further on, you'll find Ajo, a small village with a large beach and beautiful waves. However, if you walk west from the parking lot and climb over the rocks, you'll find a small cove with a perfect wave...don't tell anyone!

Environment
The Surfbase is located in Loredo, a village in the Ribamontan al Mar Surf Reserve, near Santander. From the water, you'll not only see the beautiful city of Santander, but also the peaks of the Picos de Europa. A top spot in northern Spain, and thankfully easily accessible by bus.
Want to combine your surf holiday in Loredo with some fun day trips? Then a trip to Santander is a great option, but Bilbao is also just an hour's drive from Surfbase. Here, besides many shops and tapas bars, you'll also find the world-famous Guggenheim Museum, designed by Gaudí. Prefer nature? Then take a trip to the Picos de Europa! Visit these high mountains and be captivated by beautiful hikes, panoramic views, and stunning natural beauty.
But don't worry, you don't have to take a trip to have a good time. Even if you stay in Loredo and Somo for the entire trip, you'll find plenty to do and see!
Local tips
1. Bars and restaurants:
In Loredo, you can't spend your holiday without eating at La Artesana, the traditional croqueteria. A pizza at Nùvola is also a must. Enjoy a cocktail or a delicious beer at Mar Salada. If you're heading to Somo, grab a burger at Irons or The Surfers Burger, then party until the early hours at Mar Salada Somo!
2. Ferry to Santander:
Not only the best, fastest, and cheapest way to get to Santander, but also one of the most beautiful. Enjoy the beautiful views during the crossing and disembark right in the city center!
Food
During your surfing holiday in Spain, you can enjoy a generous breakfast buffet every day! There's a wide selection of breads and delicious toppings. For muesli lovers, there are plenty of options to create a delicious bowl, and the hosts often add a little something extra to make your breakfast even more special. Coffee, fruit juice, water, and tea are, of course, available in unlimited quantities.

Santander
This beautiful city is located directly across from the beach, with the city center visible behind the waves of Loredo. From Somo, you can take the ferry for just a few euros and step right into the center of Santander. There, you can enjoy delicious food, lose yourself in the narrow streets, shop in the many fashion boutiques, and take in all the beauty the city has to offer. A fantastic city break not to be missed, and definitely a favorite.
Boat party
One of the absolute highlights of the week is the boat party! The party boat departs from Somo for a delicious sundowner, where you can dance with a cold drink in hand while enjoying the view and the sunset.
Play and relax
Loredo and Somo offer everything you need for a complete holiday! Right in front of the Surfbase, you'll find one of the two skateparks, where you can also practice your surf turns in the pump track. From the Surfbase, it's just a one-minute walk to the beach, perfect for surfing, but also for relaxing on the beach or enjoying the sunset with a bottle of wine.
In both Loredo and Somo, you'll find a wide variety of bars and restaurants. Loredo boasts delicious pizzerias, authentic croqueterias, and cozy bars. More nightlife awaits in Somo, where you'll also find trendy burger joints. Surf shops, supermarkets... you've got everything at your fingertips!
Yoga
Yoga and surfing are the perfect combination. By regularly practicing yoga alongside your daily surfing, you'll quickly notice the significant improvements you'll make, both physically and mentally. They offer optional yoga classes; the ideal way to relax your body, unwind completely, and fully enjoy your surfing holiday in Spain!

More and more guests are choosing to fly to Spain for their surf holiday, and with good reason, as flights are becoming increasingly cheaper and more frequent. For flights to the Surfbase in Loredo, the best options are:
- Amsterdam & Eindhoven to Bilbao: This large airport is located an hour from Loredo. You can easily reach Loredo by public transport or rental car.
- Brussels Charleroi – Santander: Just 20 minutes from Loredo, Santander Airport is the ideal place to fly into for a smooth trip!
Arrival by bus
Between late June and mid-September, we offer the option of traveling by bus. Every Friday, the buses depart from the Netherlands and Belgium to Loredo. They depart in the late afternoon or early evening, so you can sleep on the bus and wake up near Loredo.
The buses are modern and comfortable, and they work exclusively with reputable partners. Everyone is allowed one suitcase and one piece of hand luggage. Pillows and/or sleeping bags may be brought separately. You can also bring a surfboard on the bus and book it online as an optional extra. After a wonderful week of surfing and fun, the bus departs Saturday evening for Belgium and the Netherlands. You'll arrive home from your surfing holiday in Spain on Sunday.
Your departure points are Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Utrecht, Breda, Ghent, and Antwerp.

Parking is available right in front of the Surfbase. Daily parking is available for a small fee, and free parking is also available within walking distance.
