The best surfing experience in Nicaragua

Surf Tours Nicaragua provides surf tours of the uncrowded waves in central Nicaragua. Their experience means they know more spots and the best times to get you to them to ensure you get uncrowded and empty lineups. The company also has secret surf spots that only they know about! Surf conditions in Nicaragua are very dependent on tides, swell directions, wind velocity and direction as well as other variables. Surf Tours Nicaragua knows the right formulas to interpret those variables in order to get you on the best waves every day! Surf Tours Nicaragua keeps operation small - maximum 11 surfers if multiple groups, or over 17 for cohesive groups - to ensure that central Nicaragua remains uncrowded unlike southern Nicaragua (Popoyo, Rivas, Tola, and San Juan Del Sur that have a daily surfing population in the hundreds. Surf Tours Nicaraguas area at its busiest times might have a total of 50 surfers in the entire area including locals! If you want empty lineups the central coast is the answer).

Enjoy the local knowledge

Imagine a surf trip where you have the local knowledge that will allow you to surf top-quality, uncrowded waves each day of your adventure. Surf Tours Nicaragua gets you access to some of the best waves of your life that would be all-but impossible to find on your own, not to mention a huge hassle! No rental cars needed, no police shakedowns, no price haggling, no arranging boat rides with fishermen on questionably sea worthy boats, no getting lost, no language barriers, no food shopping, no cooking, no cleaning, just a smooth yet culturally rich Central American surf vacation. All the good stuff with none of the bad. This tour includes a free colonial city/volcano tour in Masaya, known as "The cradle of Nicaraguan folklore". In this charming city you'll enjoy colonial architecture and the country's best local artisanal market where you can buy everything from local clothing and play masks to cigars and even custom hardwood furniture. The Masaya volcano is highly active and you can see the lava in the crater from a viewing platform.

This retreat will take place in west of Managua.

"The STN Punta Miramar Surf Camp exceeded my expectations! The staff, food, accommodations, and location were all amazing. The surf was on fire for the entire week. Stand up barrels at the point during a 10-12 foot swell. Nothing better than watching your buddies get shacked directly in front of the Rancho(viewing deck). Alex was a perfect host. Will definitely be returning soon."

"We went on a family trip and had a great time. It is a surf camp, no one expected more. But we found great people who made everything to make us feel as long time friends. Yes, the house needs some renovation...but in the end it is the least important. Sharing meals around a common table every time the bell rings creates the best moments to hear stories and surfing victories of a the day. Alex, Chris, Charlie and all the staff were the best! What can be better to serve yourself a beer or drink from the fridge! Only requirement..put a mark on your tab that is on the door. Trust. When was the last time you experience it while traveling? You will not regret. "

"After multiple visits with the Surf Tours Nicaragua team, I feel entitled to write a review. I try to keep my favorite places low key so they stay this way, but I cannot stay quiet about this place! From the airport transfers, to the accommodations, everything is always set up and confirmed. These guys know how to show you a real experience in Nicaragua unlike many other local camps which tend to just treat it as a business. The team opens their home to you as if you were one of their long lost brothers. With local knowledge of the area, the team can put you on waves till your arms are rubber; and still you might only see one other boat out at the break (if youre lucky)."

"I first came down to the camp to work as a guide in 2011 and fell in love with the waves, people and overall atmosphere. Surf Tours Nicaragua is the real deal. They care about the local community and offer genuine hospitality. I owe it to Surf Tours for letting me into their family and cannot speak more highly of these guys. I continue to go back when I can and recommend this place to anyone looking for an awesome and authentic surf adventure. The waves are in front of the camp and the food is unbelievable.""Great surf trip. I went in September 2012 and stayed at both the Punta Miramar (PM) and Punta San Diego (PSD) locations. PM is great because you are staying right on the beach in front of some great beach breaks. You can also take short boat rides to other fantastic spots. PSD is a luxury condo overlooking the ocean which is a short drive from my favorite surf spot, Asuchillo. Asuchillo is a beach break which is blowing offshore pretty much every day. The meals were authentic and very good. Beers and Flor de Cana rum complete the package. You couldn't ask for a better surf trip. I will go back for sure."

"Had a great time down at Surf Tours Nicaragua. The new location was great overlooking a left hand point. The meals were awesome and home cooked. The beers were cold. The airport pickup was on time. We surfed by boat almost every day, which had a canopy for shade. It was a score. I'll totally return."

"Outstanding surf trip. Greg, Kayla, Shawn and the rest of their team took excellent care of us! Their house is on the beach with three breaks in walking distance. We scored overhead surf with minimal crowd."

"My family and I recently had a surfing holiday and stayed with Surf Tours Nicaragua. The surf was great and accommodations perfect for our group. But most importantly the manager, Gregory Chrisman, was a perfect host as he took us to a variety of surf spots and looked after our needs as a family. And when the swell was small he took us on excursions to mangroves, beautiful beaches and tide pools and even to swim in a volcanic crater lake. I highly recommend Surf Tours Nicaragua for serious surfers and even for surfing families."

"My buddy and I had a great trip thanks to Surf Tours Nicaragua. The guides were awesome! Fun to surf and hang out with, always putting you on the best waves whether out front or on boat trips. The accommodations are the best in the area, and the small group of people you are staying with quickly become a tight-knit surf crew. Great food, cold Tonas. This is the place!"

"The location is incredible, there were waves everyday straight out front and the meals were very good. The room we stayed in had everything we needed - fan, air-conditioning and private bathroom. The place is clean and the staff were super helpful and friendly. Was stoked with the 3 nights we stayed."

"From start to finish, a great experience, made mostly because of the people involved. They have put together a first rate team that keep it all going. This can't always be easy between food, transport, accommodations and getting everyone out to the best surf, but they do it, and make it look easy. They have it handled and are all still having fun doing it. A great location near several breaks. The only glitch came from me, under estimating the swell at this time of year and over estimating my abilities! Even there, I was forewarned of what to expect and they were right on, just a timing thing. Please remember, this is a surf camp in Central America, so please don't expect a five star chain hotel. But for what it is, Surf tours Nicaragua - it is first rate! I'll be back."

"The trip met our expectation, head high plus 7 of the 8 days. Staff was friendly and accommodating, sharing local knowledge on where to line up, best tides, etc. Even if they had position in the line-up they let us have the wave! Boat ride to Freight Trains/Puerto Sandino was only 5 minutes away. My favorite wave was an incredible left, Pipes, a less than 5 minute walk from the camp. Hanging at the Rancho, the covered deck with a great view of the waves, was very nice between sessions. We all had very nice massages from Kayla to get ready for the next days waves. Food was great; make sure to have them make the Nica boil. Half day trip into Leon was worth it. Price includes boat rides, trips to Leon or local lake and pick and drop off at airport so overall very affordable and worth going!"
