The Sagres Sun Stay provides everything you need for a memorable and enjoyable surf holiday. It is the perfect place to relax after your surfing day - where you can rest in a small paradise. Guest can enjoy newly built facilities, with a clean-looking finish, designed for your maximum comfort. You will be able to relax by our T-shaped salted water pool and lounge area with sunbeds. You squeeze in your gym routine in the morning using our fitness machines and end the day relaxing at a restaurant & bar that serves delicious dishes and drinks. Alternatively, you can choose to use their fully equipped common kitchen where you can cook and make new friends.
You are able to enjoy Wi-Fi all around the hostel and if you need to find a quiet space, our co-working and meeting room facilities are great places to focus.
To help relax the body and mind, we work with a range of qualified massage therapists where you can book a session at an extra cost in our massage corner.
For the avid surfer should wants to bring their own surf equipment we have private lockers to keep your material safe and you can use our water tanks to wash and dry your material.

- Twin rooms - with a pool view, are perfect for couples or friends who want privacy and maximum comfort. With heated floors, an ensuite bathroom, a flat-screen TV, a terrace, and a view over their swimming pool, the rooms are made to offer pure relaxation and peacefulness.
- Dorms - Sagres Sun Stay also has three types of dorm rooms: 6, 8, and 12 people. Specially decorated to bring up the feel of summer and surf vibes, while ensuring your privacy and security, with each bed having curtains and lockers. Free bed linen is provided, including duvets and pillows. Their orthopedic mattresses are designed to guarantee you a good night's sleep. The two big communal bathrooms are equipped with a hairdryer and shower gel.
Sustainability
Their connection with nature is important and it is their duty to protect it. Their range of solar power provides 90% of the energy used in their facilities and they have ambitions to make it 100% by 2026. The region of Algarve has suffered a range of droughts in recent years, which is why every guest staying in their dorms has a shower per day included in their package. The morning starts at around 8h30 with our breakfast buffet to charge batteries ahead of the surfing day head. After together with our surf instructors, we load the surfing gear, boards and wetsuits into the van and head to the best surf spot of the day depending the weather conditions and tide.
When you arrive to the beach each class are divided into its theoretical and practical components. The surf theory sessions include information about:
- Presentation of the surfing equipment
- Introduction to the aquatic environment
- Safety rules
- Surfboard handling techniques
- Paddling techniques (how to catch a wave)
- Take-off technique (1-2-3)
- Balance techniques on the surfboard
- Explanation of the winds’ functioning and behaviour of the waves
- Safety rules
Before the actual practise, surf instructors will always do stretching exercises to prevent any injuries. During the time in the water our team of surf instructors are constantly giving feedback and orientation to improve your skills. There are two lessons a day, lasting one hour and 30 minutes each. In between lessons, there is a break for lunch to ensure that you recharge and eat your lunch pack.
At the end of the two sessions, the van drives back to Sagres Sun Stay where you will be able to unwind by the pool or get ready to enjoy the range of activities to do in Sagres before dinner. After dinner many some may decide to explore the some of Sagres’ bars or enjoy one of our famous karaoke nights.

During your stay, you will be served seven breakfasts and five lunch boxes on five surfing days. Between the months of April to October, 5 dinners are also included in price.

Arrival by bus
Take the bus 14 or 16 to Faro Bus Terminal. From here, take the bus to Lagos Bus Terminal and then the bus to Sagres. There is a bus stop close to the hostel and you can check the timetable for buses from Lagos to Sagres on Eva's website.

You can always take a private shuttle (you can book directly with Sagres Sun Stay) or make a car rental.
Arrival by train
From Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS), take the metro's red line and get out at São Sebastião's station. Go to the blue line (direction Reboleira) and get out at Jardim Zoológico's station. Walk to the Central Bus Station and get the bus to Sagres. You can check the timetable on Rede Expresso's website.
