The surf house is an old fisherman’s cottage, restored and decorated in a surf, beach style. The house sleeps 12, in 4 large, comfortable bedrooms, 2 indoor bathrooms, and one outside bathroom, with a hot shower. The house is shared backpacker style with other guests, shared, communal living area, kitchen and dining area, a sunny chill out library room, a large deck overlooking the mangrove forests and various outside chill areas. Only sleeping 12 people makes this experience exclusive. The vibe is always chilled and there is always plenty of space for everyone to find a peaceful area to relax and take in the sounds of the bush and the ocean.
The surf house is, clean, bright, and airy with loads of character and is your cozy home from home. The rooms are serviced daily, and they provide fresh clean linen.
They have a covered outside dining area, and a massive deck, for incredible sunsets and stunning views over the indigenous forest, where they spend most of the nights relaxing and taking in the night sounds of the bush land.
The plot is spacious, with beautiful views and bird watching to enjoy over the mangrove swamps, coastal forests and farmlands or stroll through the banana, mango, and avo trees as well as the veg patch. Guests are welcome to pick fruits and veg.
Enjoy a hike through the mangrove forest, its incredibly special. They have secure onsite parking. They have a pack of friendly dogs on the property and a few cats, they are super duper friendly and just love the guests especially the kids. They like other dogs but they unfortunately do not allow more animals at the surf house.

Instructors
Justin Maisch
Justin started surfing competitively at a young age and dominated the junior ranks and earned his Springbok colors to surf the world games in Bali and Brazil. He then went on the world pro series, surfing and traveling throughout South Africa and Europe reaching the top 200 on the world rankings. Justin is very passionate about coaching and sharing the art of wave riding. Justin currently still surfs professionally and competes in the South African Surfing Champs every year.
Location
Pumula Surf Camp is a short 300-meter walk away from the stunning Pumula Beach, no roads to cross, just a short walk down the road and along the river. Pumula Beach is great for surfing, learning to surf, snorkeling, long beach walks, or just chilling. Explore the Nivonia Shipwreck right on the beach.

We cater for all diets, however special diets like gluten free, paleo, keto and vegan are an extra charge. We are well-known for our delicious meals and our gorgeous pizzas.

Southern shuttle or Margate mini coach: The shuttle picks you up from King Shaka International Airport (DUR) and Durban Station and drops you off at 2nd Avenue Pumula. Pumula Surf Camp will pick you up from there. Please let them know your arrival plans and if you are traveling with surfboards.
