Program
Surf school
Protest Surf School goes wave hunting every day with beginner, intermediate, and advanced surf lessons in small groups or with a private surf coach. The Protest Surf School step by step coaching program and an individual approach to your surfing is a guarantee for good results and if you want, you can complete your surf course with specific surf training in the surf school’s gym or with yoga or Pilates sessions.
Fuerteventura has perfect waves all year round: from beginner foamies to expert barrels and everything in between. Protest Surf Center's passionate and experienced surf coaches have been surfing here on the island for many years and know exactly where to go with you according to your level.
Beginners course
During the beginners surf course, you will learn the basics of surfing in a fun and effective way; taking foam waves without help, getting up on your feet, and surfing the wave until the beach. Once you master the basics, you will continue with learning how to take green waves, paddle correctly, get up to your feet before the wave breaks, and go sideways in both directions.
Protest Surf Center daily choose the beach with the nicest waves for your level, always with a sandy bottom to make sure you learn in a safe environment. The goal of the beginners surf course and skills needed to advance to the next level is to be able to:
- Master the basic skills and understand the theory of surfing
- Take off on green waves (before the wave breaks)
- Control the weight shifting of the body on the board
- Surf the wave sideways in both directions
- Have the correct body posture while surfing backside as well as frontside
- Surf the wave until the end eight times out of 10
Intermediates to advanced course
In this surf course, you go deeper into the knowledge of surfing and will learn more technical and theoretical details to boost your level. Often times, you surf on rock bottom beaches with larger and more powerful waves with more paddling. For that, you work hard on paddle technique, body position while surfing, and board control on any given time.
You will learn how to start turning towards the power zone of the wave and pumping on the wall to generate speed and to try basic tricks like bottom turn and cutback. Protest Surf Center's teaching method goes step by step and ensures a fast, but solid progression. The goals of the intermediate surf course and skills needed to advance to the next level are:
- Knowledge about rock bottom beaches and currants
- Perfect paddling technique
- Taking waves with good timing and positioning
- Good reading of the waves and fluidness in the water
- Generating speed and using the wave’s power zone
- Control smaller boards
- Ability to surf more complicated spots
- Bottom turn and cutback
Instructors
Mapy
Mapy started surfing since she was a little kid. She wants to convey excitement and fun this pure and beautiful sport can bring in your life. She always wants her students to take home a lot of smiles and the feeling of excitement and adrenaline that they will never forget.
Filippo
Filippo's first contact with a board was with a skateboard and a snowboard, the sports that he has practiced since his childhood and that he has always been good at. When he arrived in Fuerteventura, he saw a possibility to practice this sport and to enjoy the amazing feeling of surfing. He wants to convey to his students the fun that surfing gives because the most important thing in life is to have fun.
Aljoscha Krackhardt
Aljoscha started surfing thanks to his family friend, Cristian Pantaloncino, on his town beach in San Felice Circeo (Italy). Christian pushed him in his first waves when he was 12 years old and he immediately loved it. The next week he spent all his savings to buy his first board. From that moment on he jumped in the water whenever there was a little wave.
