North Coast Watersports

I had a wonderful weekend with Iona and Finn. Both of them are very passionate and put in so much effort so we hat a great time. We went to different beaches to have the best conditions each time. For me it was just the second time surfing and the level within the group was a a variation, but we all learned a lot and had lots of fun.

The melvich Hotel was really nice to and we had some nice breakfasts and dinners there as a group. All in all it was a wonderful weekend and the atmosphere was so nice. It was really nice to have yoga sessions afer surfing. Thank you gor this weekend! Greating from germany!

Would highly recommend North Coast Watersports, got to surf at three different beautiful and deserted beaches, received great coaching and guidance from Iona and Finn who's enthusiam and love of the sport is infectious. The hotel was cosy, clean and comfortable with beautiful views and the food was great too. The yoga sessions were perfectly tailored to post surf and left you feeling super chilled. Getting to see some of the stunning north coast an added bonus.

All in an excellent weekend where you are looked after from start to finish. Will definitely be back

As first surfing experience Finn and Iona were excellent at communicating the fundamental points. They were very patient. They are very safety conscious which was reassuring for us beginners. Equipment- boards and wetsuits of good quality especially considering water temperature! Wouldn't hesitate to come back.

Absolutely joyous weekend. Loved, loved, loved the mornings of trying to surf and felt like I could not get enough even though my body really could not do more each day. I never felt cold. Even on the morning of rain and wind, I quickly ceased feeling any chill. Instruction was clear, reinforced and attentive. Finn and Iona are just lovely young people too. Very easy to be around and very down to earth.

The hotel was also comfortable and clean and homely. Owners were pleasant and I their pet dog and cat were the icing on the cake. Must not forget Iain’s fab unpretentious yoga sessions in the garden or at the utterly stunning cozy and aesthetic Thurso studio with log burner and hand painted mural.

Everything was even better than I expected, Instructors very friendly and professionals. Hotel staff very friendly. Breakfast and food was great. Surfing in that places was an amazing experience.

Despite the damp weather and onshore winds this weekend, Iona and Finn made sure that we still got in the water everyday, caught plenty of waves, and had an all-around great time. I always felt that they were watching out for all of us, optimizing our experience by picking the best spot for us to surf each day. And although I wasn't enthusiastic about doing yoga, since I am so incredibly tight, it was the best thing for me, and felt great when it was done. I would come back for another Swell Weekend in a heartbeat!

The hotel owner Jo and ger staff were amazing both surf instructors were energetic and great fun abd the yoga instructor Ian was one of the best I've experienced

Iona and Finn couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. The surf was amazing, the company wad great. So wonderful to meet new people and try new things. The Melvich hotel was spotless and the food fantastic. Relaxing yoga outside. What more could you ask for.

It’s hard to pick one thing that was amazing but had such a great time and finally got over my fear of open water.
