Instructors
Martin Petrus
After meeting Wim Hof, Martin was inspired to learn more about the benefits of breathing patterns to manage both mental and emotional states. He has extended this learning to incorporate respiratory physiology, as developed by Patrick McKeown, the founder of Oxygen Advantage. Using Integrative Breathwork, Martin continually researches how people can benefit from both a scientific and spiritual approach. Freediving is a big part of Martin's life. He spends a lot of time in the water training, teaching as well as competing.
David Mellor
David is a Master Freediver, British Team member, and AIDA Instructor. A self-taught spearfisherman, he only discovered sport freediving 11 years ago. He qualified as an instructor 9 years ago. A competition diver for many years, David left the World Championships in Roatan this summer with 4 x gold medals in the Masters category and 4 x World Records. He has coached many others to national records and ended last year with his own -100m FIM dive. David is known among the community as the godfather of EQ and mouthfill, and all-round excellent aquatic human.
Lydia Gard
Lydia is an AIDA Assistant Coach and wellbeing writer (a freelance health and wellness writer), and AIDA 4 diver. She discovered freediving less than two years ago, and now regularly writes about the mental and emotional benefits of the sport. Lydia is happiest in the open water but also enjoys pool freediving, coaching others to reach their potential. Her interest in nutrition, mobility and yoga and her nurturing approach all ECHO community members to have space held for them.
