Come and join this amazing surf camp offered by Magikvanilla Surf Camp! White waves are ideal for beginners and intermediate surfers. On the first lesson, you'll be assessed and grouped according to your experience and coached in small groups. Magikvanilla is a converted traditional Portuguese house with spacious common areas, sundecks, chill out spots, and balconies. Located a few minutes’ away from beaches and the town center but secluded enough to give you privacy, you just need to go down the road to find a pharmacy, supermarket, or restaurant. The house offers dorms up to five people, double, and twin rooms. You’re welcome to use the kitchen, barbecue, TV lounge, as well as the chill out areas, sun decks, and terraces at any time.
You have at your disposal a fully equipped kitchen, five bathrooms, all with showers or bathtubs, sunny balconies, a barbecue, TV room with cable TV and DVD player with a selection of classics that you can play, indoors and outdoors dining areas, hammocks, sunbeds, or if you want to team up or / and challenge a friend, you can always use the billiard or the football table, everything to make you feel at home.
The times depend on the sea conditions, which vary daily. So, every day Magikvanilla Surf Camp checks the forecasts and scouts for the best spots. Throughout the week, you may have from early sessions to sunset surf. All lessons are two hours long at the beach and include gear, insurances, and transfer.
Steve is from the UK and he fell in love with Ericeira in 2004 in one of his surf trips. He moved to Portugal in 2008 and in 2013, he founded Magikvanilla Surf Camp. He is a Level 2 Certified Surf Instructor by ISA, as well as a qualified lifesaver through the Royal Life Saving Society GB and Surf Life Saving GB. He is a dedicated surf coach and gets a genuine buzz when you stand up for the first time. You will most definitely hear him cheer for you. He loves surfing and football, so you will hear him every so often singing football songs honouring Luton Town FC.
Magikvanilla sits in one of the few secluded properties in Ericeira. Right next to it, the community garden and a picnic park give it a feel of being surrounded by nature and sea. Within minutes, you can walk to different beaches or pop down the town center. You just need to go down the road to find a pharmacy, supermarket, or restaurant.
This beautiful seaside town, once home for the Phoenicians, became the county of Ericeira in 1229. By then, seafarers, royalty, and wanderers already enjoyed the same beaches, valleys, and bays as people do today. In 2011, Ericeira became the first World Surfing Reserve in Europe, second in the world. It is a place praised for eight kilometers of shoreline brimming with world-class surf spots and one of the most preserved surf-havens on the planet. It is a small town but full of life. Especially in the sunny seasons, when days and nights are warm and long-lasting.
The center is bubbling with people, street fairs, lovely shops, and a great variety of bistros, cafes, and terraces. The evening starts slow, with plenty of restaurants serving dinner until late, pubs, bars, folk parties, and even a club open until the early hours in the summer. All of this is so close to the main capital, Lisbon, that offers frequent flights from all the major cities in the world and a must see if you travel to Portugal. Magikvanilla Surf Camp is 35 minutes away from one of the most beautiful towns in the world, a UNESCO World Heritage Site called Sintra and the camp often organizes trips to this location.
