Location

This retreat will take place in Lanzarote, Canary Islands, Spain. Lanzarote, or “Lanza” as locals call it, is the most easterly island of the Canary archipelago, which belongs to Spain. It is located in the Atlantic Ocean, 100 kilometers west of the African coast and approximately 1,000 kilometers south of mainland Spain.

Lanzarote is the most volcanic of the Canary Islands. Its magnetic, almost lunar landscape boasts over 200 kilometers of coastline and countless beaches, together with the charm of its architecture, exclusively low-rise houses, all painted white with either blue or green woodwork, make it truly different from any other island of the archipelago.

Aside from being a Mecca for all surf, kitesurf, windsurf, stand-up-paddle, diving, snorkelling, fishing, and sailing enthusiasts, Lanzarote is a great playground for earth sports such as cycling, mountain biking, trekking, quad, horse riding, golfing or simply enjoying a relaxing time in one of the island’s many spa centers.

The incredible quality of surf in Lanzarote has earned the island the nickname of “European Hawaii”, with a variety of spots for surfers of all levels. Any time of the year is good for surfing on the island, especially from September to December. These months are traditionally favored by experimented surfers as they receive the biggest swells.

While the summer waves tend to be smaller. In any case, the island’s many spots make it possible to surf great waves all year round and offer good options whatever the swell, wind, and tide conditions.

Surf Areas

Caleta Caballo

The bay of Caleta Caballo offers a variety of reef breaks: two mellow rights, one short, and the other longer with some small barrels, and a long mellow left.

Famara beach has countless left and right, beach and reef breaks for all levels, set in an amazing landscape with the Risco mountain in the background.

El Quemao

The island’s most famous wave, and one of the world’s most powerful for its very fast and hollow reef break left and right.

Jameos del Agua

Impressive left reef break with two sections, the first one breaking out to sea and connecting to the second section on big days, to form the longest wave on the island. The second section is perfect for barrels and maneuvers and breaks in turquoise waters.

La Garita Beach, Arrieta

Numerous short and fast shore break peaks set on a beautiful, animated beach with a pier, skate park, beach volley and soccer grounds, a bar, and a restaurant.

La Santa center magic reef break is an easy, mellow, and long wave that is perfect for manoeuvers and some small barrels left. La Santa right reef break is incredibly long and powerful wave that is good for maneuvers and barrels and can handle very large swells right.
