"Great surf camp!"

Loved the surfcamp! The hostel is lovely and situated nicely in Tamarindo. The surfing was super fun and the instructors are great at what they do, with teaching taking place in small groups. Marcos and everyone in his team are welcoming and living the pura vida spirit. Perfect for travellers wanting to meet others, as there are some social activities as well. If you want to learn surfing for a great value, look no further:)

"Great Trip!"

Overall a great experience with Marcos and his 8 Day Surf Camp. Marcos was on top of all communication and made the trip as easy as possible. He is very accommodating and arranged different tours and experiences for myself and my friend. He understood our surf level and allowed us to have smaller group lessons. This made for a great experience and our surf skills improved dramatically over the course. We will definitely be back and highly recommend.

I really like the surf lessons, the instructors were really funny. The breakfast was also great! The common spaces in the hostel are super (pool, hamac, kitchen, gym). It’s also very clean, the sheets are getting change everyday.

"Amazing week at La Botella de Leche"

I loved my stay at La Botella de Leche!!

I had the best experience of learning how to surf with Marcos, Jero and Martin and the rest of the intructors. Thank god their patience!

I also had so much fun at the hostel: the people I met, the people who worked there, the quality of the service, the staff who was always available for any of our questions and recommandations.

Amazing week! I highly recommand this surf camp.

Thank you to everyone who made me feel confortable and special.

"Great surf camp in Tamarindo "

I loved my stay at La Botella de Leche - met some great people, and all the staff and surf instructors that hang around at the hostel are lovely and fun. The surfing was great, the sea here is like a playground for beginners, perfect conditions to learn and Marcos, Gironimo and Martin were all great and were super fun and friendly. Loved it!

It was an amazing week! Marcos is a really good teacher and we had so much fun during the lessons and also in the freetime. They did everything to let us feel comfortable. Would 100% recommend to do this surfcamp!

"Great Experience"

The hostel was very nice and the rooms were well decorated and clean. The air conditioning works well and the staff was pretty knowledgeable about the area. There's several supermarkets and a pharmacy near by along with ATMs and a bank.

"A good bottle of milk"

We stayed at the hostel for a week for the 6 days surfcamp. The place was an absolute Treasure. The surfing was so good. After the lessons we watched the sunset and it was like 24k Magic. We learned to paddle, paddle and bobab(and even to do the leash). The instructors are really good and make sure you feel like you develop through the week. There is a guy who takes great pictures of you while you surf, and we even got pictures afterwards dressed as instructors🤯🤯

The vibe at the hostel was so good, so many nice and funny people - we are sure we chose the best hostel in Tamarindo.

The nightlife is great, they always play Bruno Mars!!

Big thanks to the hostelstaff especially Manuel, who always maked sure there was quiet at Night and to Carlos(and his wonderful dog Nina) who drove us to the beach for surf lessons every day.

"Best surf camp ever"

So good surf camp with lovely people. During the surf lesions you will be provided with good feedback and the support. The surf instructors are so welcomenig and funny so you instantly feel that you’re a part and of the group. Each night you go out with the team for dinner or drinks. It’s sooo sooo worth the money!!!

"Next level surf camp experience"

I had a fantastic time in this surf camp, i can highly recommend it. If you want to escape from your everyday life and get a new experience, you should book this surf camp ASAP.

The hostel is awesome. People are coming and going every day. The location of the hostel is very close to everything around Tamarindo. The staff that works here is super friendly.

If you get your own private room, you will have great privacy + all the community benefits of the hostel, way better than a hotel room!

Surf lessons:

The surf lessons are super helpful to get better at surfing, i was a beginner and quickly learned a lot from the instructors. If you've already surfed before, you can also use the more advanced boards from the surf camp.

The best part about the surf camp is the vibe. Marcos, the main instructor, will make you feel welcomed right away. At night, we all went out with the surf group to get drinks and had a fun time. Thanks for having me Marcos, I hope that i can be back!

Air conditioning and private shuttle services to and from airport. And the free yoga session. The field trip to a different beach by Marcos was a good idea too.

I came to Tamarindo alone for the surf camp. From the first day I received a great welcome, everyone was super friendly and kind.

When it comes to surf lessons Marcos is a super good instructor, he gives good advices and he is patient. His feedbacks helps a lot. I really liked how he adapts to the evolution I had done during the lessons. he made sure everything was safe and security was super important for him. The lessons were super fun and constructive.

Regarding the hostel, I really loved La Botella de Leche, the staff always make sure everything is fine, it's a social place, really easy to make friends, I felt I was part of the family very quickly. The place was clean, with a big kitchen and a nice swimming pool. In short, it was a super nice experience, I felt in love with the place and the people. I HIGHLY recommend!!!

"Amazing Experiance! "

What started as a 8 day surf adventure quickly turned into an amazing 31 days in paradise! Tamarindo is a great location to learn how to surf and Marcos who runs the surf camp in La Botella is your guy!

THE SURF: The whole camp was super well organized and flexible from day 1. Marcos was just what I needed - gives you great feedback and instructions and pushes you so you can get better. Safety was super important for Marcos and his students. This can be your first time surfing or you can be someone who has surfed for a while - this is a great camp to learn and to improve your surfing with Marcos! And if you are lucky and he cooks one of his famous Argentinian BBQ - you are in for a treat!

THE PLACE: La Botella is super social hostel and people are extremely nice. I felt like I was part of the family from day 1. I liked the huge open gym upstairs - where you can do yoga, get a massage or stretch after a day of surfing. There is a dive master Fernando that lives in the hostel to take you diving or you can get a massage from Sandra who is certified therapist to make you ready for your next day of surfing! Just ask Marcos - he will help you organize everything! The breakfast which you will get part of the camp is next door in a French Bakery! Yummy!

Marcos - Thank you for all my friend and providing such a great experience. I will be coming back soon ;) PURA VIDA !

"Great experience and a lot of progress! "

I decided to start my 3 month trip in Costa Rica with this 8 day surf camp in Tamarindo. I wasn't disappointed, everything was great, the accomadation, the people, the massage, the breakfasts and of course the surf lessons. I had already surfed and took some lessons before in France but was still a beginner. I can say now that Marcos is the best surf teacher I had. It was not just about standing up on the board but actually make real progress, and get rid of bad habits (and I had quite a few!) Marcos is very patient but he pushes you to get better. Whatever your level when arriving at the Surfcamp, you can be sure that you will see a huge different between the first and the last day on your surfing skills. I even decided to book 2 other lessons and another week at La Botella de Leche to keep improving, don't hesitate!!

"Wonderful experience"

Thank to Marcos, Doc. and other staff I could enjoyed the first central america trip. Before visiting them i was a bit nervous. But all staff welcomed me with warm heart. I surfed every day in very beautiful and warm sea with Doc. He was always positive and earnestly teach me. I'm an intermediate surfer but have hardly surfed for 3 years in the UK. So the size of waves were proper for me. Not so big. And this plan included snorkeling as well. With Marcos we swam with a small turtle. She was so beautiful. The most impressive thing in Costa Rica was their enviromental friendly spirit. On the beach no plastics no rubbish and in the hostel staff recommend you to use reusable bottle. I respect them.

"Muy delicioso "

All the members of the argentinian team were awesome ! They really made my week ! Without them it would not have been the same and I would have missed something.

They are so friendly, so smiling, full of energy and so helpful !

Furthermore, Marcos, is a really serious and professional surf instructor.

So proud of my level at the end of the week, thanks !

The best team in Costa Rica for sure.

THE place to go.

"Best instructors around "

Marcos and Pablo were both great, knowing exactly how hard to push in order to get the most out of you. As I beginner if you are willing to listen to them and follow instructions you will be able to get your own waves by the end of the week. Highly recommend them to anyone interested.

"An experience that makes you wanna move to Costa Rica! "

I was going to this surf camp alone and was very nervous that I wouldn't have fun and wouldn't make friends. But all the staff at the hostel and Marcos the instructor, were so kind and made me feel at ease right away. I am a very shy and anxious person and they somehow made me feel like I belonged there, which never happens for me. They took these amazing and professional photos of us surfing which was really cool. And they even BBQ'd for everyone at the hostel a few nights. I felt like they actually cared if I was having a good time or not, and that means a lot to me. The surf lessons were so much fun, and I learned so much in such a short time. One of the best parts was the massage after a week of surfing. It was the perfect ending to the whole trip and was probably the best massage I've ever had! I had so much fun on this trip, it seriously makes me want to look into living in Costa Rica.

"Great Surfcamp"

We couldn't ask for e better first surf experience. The hostel was very nice and the staff was friendly and helpful. Marcos our surf instructor did an amazing job. We never surfed before and after 6 days of surfing with him we can say that we are able to catch the waves by ourself. We would definitely come back for another surfcamp at botella de leche one day. We really had a great time there with nice people! :-)

"Super stay at la Botella de Leche!! "

My stay at la Botella de Leche went past waaay to quick. I was at the 8-days surf camp, and think this is the perfect package if you want to surf a lot and get great value for your money. The hostel has cool areas to hang out in, and has a kitchen if you want to make your own food. It is located in a quite part of town, so you are actually able to sleep if you want to go out surfing early in the morning. The waves in Tamarindo are perfect for improving your surfing. Pablo was a really nice instructor, being patient and explaining well about how to improve my teqnique, as well as how to read waves. The people working at the hostel are very helpful and friendly, and will do their best to help you with all kinds of questions and requests. I can really recommend this place to anyone that want to improve their surfing, staying at a cool place and having a GREAT time!!

"Solo Surfer trip - AMAZING experience: I’m a better surfer!"

Location is awesome. The surf lessons, which is the whole reason I came her, were AWESOME. Marcos is patient but pushes you. His goal was to make sure I improved as a surfer, not just to get pretty pictures. He worked on technique with me & helped me admonish bad habits. You’d never know it, since Marcos is so understated & humble - he’s an expert, very well-respected in the community. While I was at the surf camp, the Spain Travel channel came out to tape his surf lessons. He never batted an eye or made a big deal out of it. Amidst it all, my surf lessons continued without missing a single beat. I would HIGHLY recommend Marcos! La Botella De Leche is a very clean hostel, with lots of community space for meeting the others at the Hostel. The Kitchen, eating area, lounging area, pool are all GREAT - I used all of the spaces. The people are super nice - very welcoming and accommodating. Yoga was AWESOME - so needed after many days surfing. The massage - Sandra, is not just a massage therapist, she is a physiotherapist, the only one in town. The massage was amazing, and I also opted for dry-needling, which greatly alleviated my tight shoulders. I met tons of GREAT people at the hostel, and made new friends of the staff and fellow travelers. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

"Best week of my trip"

Really nice atmosphere during the whole stay. The owners, staff and the surfteacher gave their best to give everybody a good experience. The hostel is close to the center (400m) but still far enough so you dont hear the clubs or traffic if you want to sleep. The surf instructor did a really good job, so we were progressing fast in some really nice waves.

"Aprender surf y conocer gente increible"

Staying at La botella De Leche they are welcoming and friendly. A great place to meet people. The food they provide at Utopia was excellent. Marcos was helpful on getting you to feel confident and comfortable in the water. Made sure to give advice to better your surfing skills which helped. "Fantastic Surf Camp!"

There is so much to love about La Botella de Leche(LBDL). The instructors are not only great at teaching participants how to surf (getting everyone up on their boards on the first day) but make the sessions tons of fun. The rooms are fairly comfortable with AC and washrooms (you don't spend much time in the rooms as there is so much to do in town and at the hostel). The included breakfast at Utopia Cafe 50M from LBDL has a super nice atmosphere and has great food (the food ticket has a 3000 Colon value so I usually would get a more expensive meal and pay the difference and it was really good - the included options are good though too).

Atmosphere is great with comfortable living spaces with a beautiful pool, living room, and good-sized kitchen. While I only stayed at LBDL I got the impression that it was THE place to be because of the great environment, staff, and location. The staff really makes everyone feel welcome and if you engage with them they seem happy (at least in my scenario and what I saw in general) to include you in their friend outings.

I felt super safe with the security cameras and security guard at night time. Lights out was enforced which was great as it allowed people who wanted sleep the ability to get a good night's rest.

Saw a couple of families with children stay there and while I can't speak for them they seemed to be enjoying themselves as there were great amenities and it wasn't a "party hostel", though you can certainly do so in town

"Great experience "

I absolutely loved my time on the surf camp. We had Jeronimos as our instructor most of the time and he was fantastic, so friendly and encouraging and a great teacher. The hostel is amazing and everyone is super super friendly. I was a solo traveller and it was great because everyone on the camp hangs out together, goes for dinner etc. Marcos and Jeronimos did a pizza evening for us at the hostel and we did an estuary tour instead of the snorkelling as the visibility was bad at the time. All round definitely recommend!

"Time of My Life!!!"

I feel like I really lucked out with picking La Botella De Leche as my first vacation in years, and especially as a place to learn to surf.

Marcos is an amazing instructor. The right balance of pushing students to take it to the next level and overcome fear, and having fun! Marcos instilled in me the importance of safety while surfing, and also gave me honest feedback that I found very helpful for me to push myself to become a better surfer. Martin and Jeronimo are wonderful instructors also, it was a pleasure to be learning with them. I am so inspired and excited by what I learned during my trip, I will definitely be back! The hostel has an exceptionally lovely vibe. Everyone who works there is friendly, helpful, and a pleasure to be around. The pool courtyard is gorgeous, the coffee was always on and delicious (critical!). My room was cute and had everything I needed to have a relaxing and pleasant vacation. The location is ideal in that it is a 5 minute walk to the beach, but away from the tourist madness and in a tranquil environment. Look no further if you want to have a peak vacation/adventure experience in surfing paradise!! THIS PLACE IS IT!!! I'm a big fan and very grateful for my experience there.

"More than a surf camp "

I really enjoyed the welcome when I arrived, the introduction to the group, the organized activities, the group dynamic and the attention that was given to all of us by the instructor both during and outside of the surf lessons. Also, for celebrating the 8 years anniversary of the surf camp, Marcos invited all the surf camp participants and instructors on a boat trip with a fantastic crew and dolphins, snorkeling, drinks and food. In addition to the people, I also enjoyed the hostel, the breakfast, the yoga, the beer pong, the dinners and party's.

I like that the surf lessons are organized, the photos from the surf lessons makes it easier to visualize and correct mistakes and the instructors give constructive feedback for us to improve.

The surf camp participants and Marcos big effort in taking care of everyone really makes Surf Spirit at La Botella de Leche more than a surf camp.

"Great surfing for a beginner"

As someone completely new to surfing, Botella was a great place to learn. Tamarindo is a great beach for beginners with consistent and gentle waves. Marcos and his co-instructor were patient, instructive, thorough in their explanations, and adaptable to what worked for me and the others in my group. I was impressed that they were able to get us catching waves on day 1, and consistently built our abilities through the week. Now I’m just thinking about when I can go surfing next!

"Will definitely be back for another visit!"

This surf camp was so much fun and in the perfect location! Tamarindo is such a cute beach town and all of the people there were so friendly. La Botella de Leche is a hidden gem within Tamarindo - everyone working at the hostel was super welcoming and helpful, the surf instructors were very easygoing and they provided great tips throughout all of the surf lessons, and the hostel was perfect for young travelers looking for a chill place to hang out! The location of the hostel is perfect - not right on the main street, but still very close to the beach, and it felt very safe leaving our valuables there since there were always hostel staff and friends around on site. All of the people at the hostel were welcoming AND there was free coffee all day long! I really enjoyed doing a sunrise yoga session while staying at La Botella de Leche, as well. Honestly, they offered more than I expected for such a great price, all of the activities and services offered were impeccable, and the people were so, so nice! I will definitely be back for another visit very soon!!

"Great surf camp in Tamarindo!"

We had a lot of fun surfing since waves in Tamarindo are perfect for beginners and Marcos did a great job of finding best spots for us. Also all soft boards were great for beginners and in perfect conditions, not like other boards we saw offered on the beach. We were the only couple on a surf camp, so we had private lessons with Marcos and that was great! We also had a private yoga class which was very professional and in details, so we learnt a lot!

"Coming Back! Pura Vida"

I have been to a handful of surf / yoga camps around the world and definitely would put this one up there in my top 3. To start La Botella de Leche is a perfect place to stay if you want to have good night life by you but also be in a place that you can get rest... solo, group and families stay at the hostel. And overall the facilities are clean and everything you need. Second, the breakfast at Utopia is great. Most importantly however, Manuel and his family as well as Marco and his team (Pablo and Agustin) are all amazing people. Manuel is good people and an excellent story teller. You will appreciate his international stories from all over the world. Marco is a true homie and has a group of excellent surf instructors. Truly enjoyed the community of people for surfing, yoga and overall life. Last thing I will note is Sandra (Marco's girlfriend is an excellent masseuse). I can't wait to be back. Cheers to Travel!

The camp was amazing! Marcos, our surf teacher, guided us through every activity - not only the surf but the snorkeling and party life too. We felt very much at home and had so much fun! We also did the aerial yoga which we loved. Breakfast was served at the French café next door and the croissant sandwiches were to die for! Over all we strongly recommend this surf camp. Great accommodation, staff, vibe and activities!

"Everything was great!"

The entire experience with the surf camp and the hostel far exceeded my expectations.

The surf camp was excellent. My instructors, Marcos and Augustine, had lots of paitence and passion for the sport. Even though I have some surfing experience before the camp, I still learned a lot about things I need to work on (timing, positioning in the lineup). If you are lucky, they may also do a BBQ for you, making the entire experience extra delicious. The photographers are amazing. They gave me the best photos I ever had of my surfing. In retrospect, I should have paid them extra money to ask them to take extra photos.

The hostel is perfectly located. It is only a short 5 minute walk from the downtown, yet there are banks, markets, restaurants right next to the hostel. There is even a very cool microbrewery with TVs and lawn games (Volcano Brewing) and a (weekly?) night market within two to three minute walk. I am actually really glad that the hostel is not in downtown, as it can get really loud and hectic in downtown at night.

The staff in the hostel are super friendly, helpful, and professional. I was initially anxious since I was traveling alone, but quickly got to know the staff and other travelers thanks to the hostel's cozy vibe.

I will definitely recommend this hostel and surf camp to anyone who wants to learn or improve their surfing, and enjoys a comfortable room with AC and friendly staff. *Remember to bring your own soap*

Everyone in this hostel follows his own agenda, be it from just hanging around and doing nothing until being busy the whole day and night long with surfing, adventure trips, yoga and nightlife or living as a digital nomad and doing graphic design. Botella da leche was the best accomodation i had in Costa Rica. The atmosphere in the hostel was very relaxed and it‘s a really cool place to stay at. The hostel also offers plenty of fun activities to do. The staff and the owner are very friendly and pleasant people and i really enjoyed staying there. The surfcamp was very good and as a beginner i learned a lot. The surfinstructor, Markos, does a great job and gives his best to give you what you‘re looking for. He‘s a very good instructor with a lot of experience and patience. The pictures taken by Sandra are also really cool.

Thank you guys very much!

Best wishes and many greetings
