The house can accommodate up to 21 guests in seven thematic rooms with sea view. The 4 and 6 bed dorms have private bathrooms. The private rooms are equipped with a washbasin and guests have access to shared bathrooms. There is also a lounge area where you can relax with friends. Surf lessons, guiding, and equipment are all available onsite.
The Hostel 55 has a strong artistic component with hand painted art in every room.
You can use all of the surf house's facilities such as free Wi-Fi, airport transfers, skate, living room, kitchen, lounge area, terrace, barbecue facilities, etc.
Program
This surf camp includes six-day all levels surf lesson. Each surf lesson will take about two and a half or three hours. The group has a maximum of eight students so that your surf class can be the most personalized and as productive as possible. Additionally, you will get three days of yoga in the Ericeira Yoga Studio. Each yoga session will take about 60 minutes. The surf sessions will take place at the suitable beach for you and your surf level.
Hostel & Surfcamp 55 surf lessons are divided into three levels:
Surf soft - beginner
Surf soft - beginner is for anyone who is starting to surf. In a small group, every student will get personalized attention from the coach and will start to surf on a beach with the best conditions for learning the initial surf bases such as take-off technique and different waves, tides, and swell adaptation.
Evolution - improvers
Evolution - improvers is for those who are already comfortable with the take-off technique and are ready to paddle out on the broken waves, or visit other beaches and catch unbroken green waves with one-point-two-meter and one-meter waves, and be with the other surfers. You are entitled to have a monitor for each group of six students and facilitated with a van to search for the best spot so that you can be trained on this kind of surf level.
Shortboard - advanced
Shortboard - advanced is for surfers who want good waves and great spots to surf and train. This level is for those who already become independent surfers but still need a skilled surfer or coach to correct and analyze their surf techniques and maneuver. The group will be facilitated with a van, a car, or a pickup, photos, and videos.
Location
Ericeira is one of the most beautiful and coziest places in Portugal, just near the capital, Lisbon. Ericeira is a fishermen's village and a World Class Surfing Reserve that provides waves and surf spots for all levels within a very short distance, be ready to be amazed.
Ericeira was distinguished in 2011 as the first World Surfing Reserve in Europe. That distinction was given by the world organization, Save the Waves, responsible for a program created to protect waves all over the world. The reserve stretches for four kilometers, from the Empa Beach to S. Lourenço. There are all in all seven world-class waves on that stretch: Pedra Branca, Reef, Ribeira d’Ilhas, Cave, Crazy Left, Coxos, and S. Lourenço.

By car, using the highway with tolls from the Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS) key in the coordinates: 38º 57′ 30,96” -9º 24′ 52,02” It's a 42-kilometer and 35-minute drive with tolls.
- Go by E1 (750 meters or 1 minute).
- Go by A8 and A21 (42.6 kilometers or 26 minutes).
- Go by N116 and N247 to street Dr. Eduardo Burnay (1.7 kilometers or 3 minutes)
- On the roundabout, get out on the 4th exit to N116 (1 kilometer).
- Turn left to the street of Bombeiros Voluntários or N247, go straight ahead N247 (700 meters) and take a hard turn on the right to Dr. Eduardo Burnay street.
- The hostel is on the right, a white, grey and wine colored building.
Arrival by airplane
Please arrange your flight to arrive at Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS). At the airport, the meeting point is Starbucks. Hostel & Surfcamp 55 will call or text you once they have arrived. There will be with the van or car outside, in front of the exit door at Starbucks waiting for you. Please, send your flight number, arrival time, and mobile number to the crew so we can organize it. Please also note that there is an extra charge of 10 EUR for transfers between 10:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
Arrival by bus
At the airport, catch the bus or subway to the Campo Grande station. In Campo Grande get on the bus to Ericeira. Ericeira is the last stop. When you arrive to Ericeira's bus station walk down in the direction of the village and turn on the left when you see a roundabout near "Continente" supermarket. You will pass by self service laundry and have to walk around 10 more minutes from there. Hostel 55 (a white, grey, and wine colored building, with the quote "Live the artistic experience!" on the wall) is located next to a view point in front of Praia do Sul, a 5 minutes walking distance from the center of the village and just in front of the beach.
