The house can accommodate up to 21 guests in seven thematic rooms with sea view. The 4 and 6 bed dorms have private bathrooms. The private rooms are equipped with a washbasin and guests have access to shared bathrooms. There is also a lounge area where you can relax with friends. Surf lessons, guiding, and equipment are all available onsite.
The Hostel 55 has a strong artistic component with hand painted art in every room. You can use all of the surf house's facilities such as free Wi-Fi, airport transfers, skate, living room, kitchen, lounge area, terrace, barbecue facilities, etc.
Program
The surf team is an excellent Ericeira waves connoisseur and beyond, they have been surfing for over 20 years and have traveled all over the world to surf. The main coach teaches at the Portuguese Surf Federation new coaches.
Surf lessons
The surf lessons for beginner surfers and takes two and a half to three hours every day. To provide the best possible progress for you, you will be taught in small groups with excellent surf teachers. These small groups provide more personal attention for you and create a familiar atmosphere.
There will be different surf coaches and surf spots for different surfing levels. There will be a surf spot that presents the best surf conditions for that day to each level of surfing, included in the lessons are qualified surf instructors and video analyzation.
The surf lessons are always in small groups by teachers and have a maximum of six students per teacher. Please note that In the first surf lessons, the coach is going to analyze your level and propose the surfing plan objectives for the next days. Surf lessons are not refundable in case you will not use all that's included in this package.
During this surf camp, you are entitled to surf lessons, insurance, surfing equipment, and transportation to and from the beach.
Theory lessons
In the theory lessons, you will talk about different topics of surfing. Starting with the surf culture and rules of surfing, the ocean in general, how waves and conditions work, how to read the forecasts, different surf spots in general and Ericeira specific spots, PPT-paddling, and positioning and timing. You will be filmed during the surf lesson, so the surf team can analyze your surfing afterward and give you more precise feedback to improve your skills.
Location
Ericeira is one of the most beautiful and coziest places in Portugal, just near the capital, Lisbon. Ericeira is a fishermen's village and a World Class Surfing Reserve that provides waves and surf spots for all levels within a very short distance, be ready to be amazed.
Ericeira was distinguished in 2011 as the first World Surfing Reserve in Europe. That distinction was given by the world organization, Save the Waves, responsible for a program created to protect waves all over the world. The reserve stretches for four kilometers, from the Empa Beach to S. Lourenço. There are all in all seven world-class waves on that stretch: Pedra Branca, Reef, Ribeira d’Ilhas, Cave, Crazy Left, Coxos, and S. Lourenço.

Arrival by car
By car, using the highway with tolls from the Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS) key in the coordinates: 38º 57′ 30,96” - 9º 24′ 52,02” It's a 42-kilometer and 35-minute drive with tolls.
Arrival by airplane
Please arrange your flight to arrive at Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS). At the airport, the meeting point is Starbucks. Hostel and Surfcamp 55 will call or text you once they have arrived. There will be with the van or car outside in front of the exit door at Starbucks waiting for you.
Please send your flight number, arrival time, and mobile number to the crew so they can organize it. Please also note that there is an extra charge of 10 EUR for transfers between 10:30 pm to 7:30 am.
Arrival by bus
At the airport, catch the bus or subway to the Campo Grande station. In Campo Grande, get on the bus to Ericeira. Ericeira is the last stop.
When you arrive to Ericeira's bus station, walk down in the direction of the village and turn on the left when you see a roundabout near "Continente" supermarket. You will pass by self service laundry and have to walk around 10 more minutes from there.
Hostel 55 (a white, grey, and wine colored building, with the quote "Live the artistic experience!" on the wall) is located next to a view point in front of Praia do Sul, a 5 minutes walking distance from the center of the village and just in front of the beach.
Cancellation Policy
- A reservation requires a deposit of 30% of the total price.
- The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
- The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
