Vento (double room)
This private room is located on the first floor of the house. It has a queen size bed and a cupboard. The shared bathroom is just on the other side of the corridor.
Areia (twin room)
This room is located on the ground floor of the hostel. It has a private terrace, two single beds, a big closet, and a shared bathroom on the same level.
Sol (8-bed dormitory)
The eight-bed dorm has four single beds and two bunk beds. It is located on the top floor of the house and has a private terrace with the most beautiful view of the village "Hortas do Tabual" and the hills around. The shared bathroom is just next door.
Mar (10-bed dormitory)
The apartment dormitory has space for 10 persons in five bunk beds. It has a private entrance, a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, and a big terrace.
Program
Guests can arrive daily, but you should notice that the surf courses start normally in the morning. You will have 2.5-hour surf courses per day. Hostel on the Hill Algarve has worked with a surf school. Normally, a day of surfing goes like this:
- You will be picked up between 8 a.m. and 12 noon, depending on the tide. The surf school will let Hostel on the Hill know the exact times as soon as the course is booked
- You will get a wetsuit and surfboard
- The surf school drives with you to the beach, normally Zavial or Castelejo, depending on the conditions
- Receive instructions from the surf teacher, warm up, surf, have a break, and go for another 1.5 hours of surfing
- You will be dropped off at the hostel
Location
The Hostel on the Hill is located in the traditional village of Hortas do Tabual, between the national road N125 and Zavial beach, right in the Natural Park of the Costa Vicentina. Plenty of beaches are just around the corner, like the famous surfer beach Zavial, Ingrina, and the Hippie Beach Barranco; to the beaches of Sagres and Vila do Bispo, you will drive about 15 minutes.
The area around the hostel is perfect for hiking and mountain biking. A well-signed mountain bike trail and the long-distance hiking trail Via Algarviana, both pass the house. Rota Vicentina, also a long-distance hiking trail is about two kilometers away.
Sagres and the Cabo de Sao Vicente, the former end of the world, are only 10 kilometers away. To Lagos, with its awesome restaurants, bars, and crazy nightlife is 20 kilometers. Several buses a day are running between Lagos and Sagres or you can use the hostel's transport services for an extra fee.

Daily breakfast is included in the package. At an additional cost, you may enjoy a dinner night with Hostel on the Hill's homemade dinners like Portuguese tapas, barbecue, and a lot more for 10 to 15 EUR per person; wine is included. The hostel makes dinners on request and on fixed days during the high season.

Arrival by bus
You can take a train or a bus from Faro to Lagos. Take the bus from Lagos to the direction of Sagres and get off in Raposeira. Follow the signs to Hortas do Tabual and Zavial beach at the crossing with the traffic lights in Raposeira.
You can also take a bus or a train from Lisbon to Lagos and switch in Lagos to a bus going to the direction of Sagres. Get off in Raposeira. Follow the signs to Hortas do Tabual and Zavial beach at the crossing with the traffic lights in Raposeira.
There are about 15 buses a day running between Sagres and Lagos. Just take one of those and get off in Raposeira. Follow the signs to Hortas do Tabual and Zavial beach at the crossing with the traffic lights in Raposeira.
In Raposeira, you will pass Hortas do Tabual after 2.5 kilometers. Take the first road to the left after you entered the village, pass a big farmhouse, and follow the road down the hill. At the T-crossing, you will see buildings. The first house on your right-hand side is the Hostel on the Hill.

- A reservation requires a deposit of 50% of the total price.
