More than 10 years ago, Gala-Gala Eco Resort began on the outskirts of the tiny village of Ponta do Ouro in Southern Mozambique. Since then, it has evolved into the beautiful environment that the lodge is today. They kept striving to give back to the community as they grew by sourcing materials and men and women power locally.
They have implemented many eco principles and have given back to nature more than they have taken, in an effort to preserve the fauna and flora of the area. Birds and butterflies fill the trees, and at night, you can hear the sounds of nature. Just a short 1.5 kilometers away, the village of Ponta do Ouro has also grown over the years, and now offers a variety of restaurants and cafes, a local market, and many exciting outdoor and water sport activities, the most popular being scuba diving and swimming with dolphins.
The marine reserve and local special elephant reserve have been declared the new Maputo national park, growing the efforts of conservation and our whole area has been declared an environmentally protected area, giving its future a great eco-friendly boost.
Cabanas
Nestled under cool indigenous trees, each cabana offers full privacy and is fully self-contained. Each cabana has a beautifully appointed main bedroom with a king-size bed and a spacious ensuite bathroom, a well-equipped kitchen with a 2-plate gas cooker and fridge freezer and complimentary tea and coffee facilities.
There is an outside dining and barbecue area looking onto a private garden space with seating, hammocks and an outside shower. In the cabanas, there are fans, mosquito nets, shelving and dresser space, plug points and electric lights.
Program
There will be five surfing lessons with a local instructor. Each lesson lasts for 1 hour and 30 minutes. You are also free to use the surfboard for two and a half hours every day.
Location
The surfing holiday is located at Gala Gala Eco Resort in Ponta do Ouro, Mozambique. The main surfing spot is 1.1 kilometers from the resort, which is an easy 15-minute walk. The resort also offers transport at a minimal cost.
Food
The package includes daily breakfast and dinner.
Gala-Gala Eco Resort offers delicious breakfasts and lunches on-site at our Blue Zebra café and bar, and dinner is available at Sapphire Sands restaurant just a short 430-meter walk away. There are also a variety of other restaurants in the village offering a range of different cuisines.
