She recently continued her yoga studies with Sharath Jois at the Shri K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute. Overwhelming positive energy and relaxed atmosphere. Additional workshops.

For me the 8pm dinner is quite late but it's personal preference/ habits. Sometimes i would skip it but loved to join for social reasons and food was delicious (even if it meant sleeping trouble;) probably I would rather lunch option or earlier afternoon class/ dinner. But don't get me wrong, I understand its Italy;)

It was my first yoga retreat. I liked the program and the balance between intense yoga class in the morning and the stretching one, combined with meditation, in the evening. It was easy to follow for a beginner, except maybe the meditation part, which I found a bit tricky (should have asked for an explanation :)). There is also plenty of time in the day to enjoy the AMAZING beach and surroundings or do some water sports activities, like paddle boarding or kite surfing (but not really surfing surfing, so this part was a bit confusing). Everyone was super friendly and helpful, including teachers, personnel and guests. And the vegetarian food (even if I'm not a vegetarian) was a nice change.

the environment, the yoga facilities, the teaching, the multicultural friendships.

Slightly overcrowded and meal times were often beset by long queues and insufficient food. There was a sign up system to advise if you were staying for meals which many people omitted to do. As everyone always ate the evening meal it would have been better to charge everybody on an a dinner bed and breakfast basis in advance and cater accordingly.

    Yogalesson on the beach

Yogalesson before dinner. The lesson in the eve is great and you are really relaxed after but then you go to dinner in a tinny room with too many people and it is so loud that yoga was for nothing you are not relaxed anymore

Weitere aktive Programmpunkte wären gut (Wanderungen, Tanzen etc)

Everything! The location is top very closed to the beach, Noto Modica and Ragusa are just 30/45 mins by car. The rooms are nice and clean with all the comforts. The staff is super nice! The yoga lessons were absolutely great and various.

The location is fantastic, the yoga challenging and fun, the instructor Ameriga excellent. Floripa has a warm friendly vibe and the team make everything easy from using the car, the bikes and the paddle boards to giving great advice on yoga and sightseeing.

My only negative (and it is only small )sometimes the classes are a little cramped and after an active day we all tucked in quickly to the delicious food, making it hard for the kitchen to keep up with the demand.

Very nice people, great atmosphere, lovely beach, I felt very free to just do whatever you like; enjoy al the classes or skip one if you need a break, read a book in the hammock, take a bike and go to a nearby city... The food was fantastic! Everything was refilled when necessary, very fresh, lots of vegetables and loved the home cake in the morning

In my expercience the level of the classes is quite high, for me it was perfect and challenging but not too much, but I would recommend beginners to follow an introduction course yoga before you do the retreat.

Ontvangst was super!

Floripa yoga& surf is exactly what you imagine a place like it (that combines the two activities) to be: relaxed and very welcoming, without too much hassle nor pressure to be a dedicated yogi or surfer. You can enjoy either activity, or both, and the place feels very inclusive.

It is run by a team of people that act like a big family, you can tell they enjoy it and want to share the same with their guests. The yoga classes were taught in a nice location, and I was looking forward to going there every morning and afternoon.

The food was really good, with quite a diverse buffet breakfast, and delicious vegetarian dinners, with local wine à go-go!

Not sure this is a dislike for everyone, but I felt that 20-30 people for a yoga class were quite many at a time; you feel like the instructor doesn't have the time/space to focus on correcting/improving your postures etc, so it felt a bit crowded at times.

I liked it all so very much!

Wonderful Floripa team, lovely people from different countries, amazing yoga teachers and fantastic cooks. The facilities are great, I stayed it a dorm of 5 and it was very comfortable and clean. The atmosphere in Floripa is very warm and open. Everyone was kind and generous and it seemed like the place and the team brought out the best in us.

I am not well trained in Yoga and therefore I found the morning classes extemely demanding. (Afternoon classes are less dynamic.) While I loved and enjoyed the experience as a whole, I would have preferred the option of a dynamic but much more mild morning class.

Variety of yoga classes with different teachers. Excellent vegetarian food at communal table, opportunity to meet other guests. High standard rooms in lovely gardens. Very friendly and helpful staff and owners. Short walk to beach, use of cycles to ride to Pozzallo or along coast.

Not keen on the three barking dogs especially at meal times. Because Floripa was full the classes often felt crowded and the Shala sometimes too hot. Again because of the number of guests and everyone arriving at once following classes there was a queue for food which could have been improved if the food were laid out beside the long table instead of all at one end. But these are minor issues in a very enjoyable stay.

Floripa is a very sunny and welcoming place, you feel like part of a big family from the moment you arrive. Apart from the lovely Ameriga and Ettorio, Giada, Paolo and the rest of the friendly staff, there's a bunch of fun loving dogs and a cute cat. The houses are painted beautiful bright colors, the space is very green, with hammocks and sofas/beanies. The yoga classes are challenging, especially the morning ones, and good fun. Ameriga is a great teacher and has a beautiful, sunny and energetic personality, you will love her! The other yoga teachers are also very good. I had two kite surfing lessons with Michele which I enjoyed a lot, Michele was very encouraging and really good at explaining the process. It's also nice to be able to cycle to the nearest town or to hire an e-bike for a slightly longer trip (I rode to Noto one day). Overall, a very chilled, varied, beautiful active holiday, I hope to come back to Floripa one day!

The energy, atmosphere and yoga classes

There didn't seem to be enough food for dinner and often main dishes ran out. We were left quite disappointed on a number of evenings because we were still hungry. Bearing in mind the price for dinner, there should be plentiful amounts for all.

Floripa has such a becautiful vibe. I was apprehensive at first to come here alone, but there are many other solo travellers, as well as some couples and groups, who are all so friendly that I made connections immediately. The morning and evening yoga classes were perfect ways to start and end the day. The kite surfing instructors were awesome too! Being vegetarian and lactose intolerant, I always worry about eating abroad, but Simona and the team catered to all my needs with delicious alternatives.

Peacefull place with private terraces, hammocks and a beautiful green, flowery shared garden. Chill atmosphere, yoga and surf combi, very friendly people but not too spiritual. Great quality classes, often 2 hours long although we were paying for 1.5 hours. I can really recommend to buy an extra headstand/arm balancin class with Ameriga. Good food almost all vegetarian. Only 100 meters from the beach, where they have a perfect SUP spot and you can book Kitesurf classes if there's wind. Very nice people, very open atmosphere, eating at long tables, etc. Totally disconnected!

There's not much to do in Pozzalo, but to be honest, 4-days just exercising and chilling at the YogaSurf House and beach is great, you don't need much more! Maybe a full week would have been too much, also physically.

All good yoga instructors. Good osteopath. Many nice and open minded traveling guests from all over the world.

Accommodation, not what I was supposed to. It costed more than I was informed of and I didn't got what I expected. Concerning the food, I find it not very diet friendly. The cleaning was not proper done and the floors outside the rooms was dirty. The same with the area around the bar, reception and where we ate. Some of the prizes was higher than it was listed. Activities: In the listing details it said surfing. There was no surfing at all, only kiting. I was disappointed, because the surfing was one of the reasons I chose to go here.

    The whole experience was amazing.

Floripa house took care of me right from the start and answered all my questions promptly (had tons of them being a first time solo female traveller). Had no problems making it to Pozzallo and Michele came to pick me up from the station. When I got to Floripa everything was taken care of- meals, facilities. My rooms were beautiful and the place itself was very relaxing, bright and colourful.

What made the whole experience memorable were the people themselves- Ameriga, Giada, Ettore, Mayo, Paolo, Andrea, Simona, the whole team! It wouldn't have been the same without them. Ameriga was the most patient, encouraging yoga teacher- I'm missing her classes already! Managed to do my very first head stand (woohoo!).

The morning classes were pretty full-on but the evening ones were chilled when she teaches more theory and principle of Yoga, meditation and breathing exercises. I enjoyed those the most as she opened my eyes to the meaning of yoga and its purpose. It has piqued my interest to deepen my study. I can't praise Ameriga enough for what she's taught me. <3

Also if anyone was concerned about making friends here, don't worry. Everyone- staff, dogs and guests were incredibly friendly. The communal dinner area was a perfect place to start conversations.

Overall, it was perfect and I couldn't have asked for more. Am already planning my next trip there. Highly recommended.

Thanks for everything Floripa and see you soon enough!

The wifi could be a little unstable but it wasn't really a problem since it allowed me to be less dependent on my phone. So I managed to spend a whole lot of time reading.

Couldn't be more happy with my stay! Everyone was so friendly and the atmosphere will make you feel right at home. I only had breakfast included in my package but chose to have the dinner buffet every night, the food was so delicious! It's also a great way to get to know people since I was traveling alone. Really loved the dynamic flow in the morning classes and the gentle, meditative sessions in the evening. Ameriga has such great energy and she really takes the time to get to know everyone and build a sense of community, even though people come and go every day. She also held a theory class one evening that was much appreciated.

The house is right off the beach (which is stunning) and I spent most of the time on the sunbeds or swimming. I felt completely at peace after my days at Floripa, my only regret is that I didn't stay longer! The people, the yoga, the puppies, Stronzi the cat, the food and the beach all contributed to making this one of my best trips ever. I loved this place and hope to back again very soon!

Having morning vinyasa at 8:30am (instead of 6am) allowed me to get 8 hours of sleep :) Then we had the day to play at the beach, try kitesurfing, SUP, boat rides, explore, etc. followed by a relaxing Yin yoga class. The food was delicious, clean, nourishing and made with love. I signed up for dinner every night! This place completely recharged my soul. Within moments of arriving, I extended my trip, that was the best decision I ever made!!!

Floripa is a stylish boutique surf & yoga retreat that offers many facilities to calm down and relax. The yoga sessions were very well taught and staff was always helpful. This gem is absolutely a place I can recommend and would come back to!

Accommodation, yoga instructors and Shala, food, chill out facilities.

We had a fab time. The only downside was we didn't have a car and didn't realise it was so far away from anywhere. So we were unable to go exploring. Next time we'll hire a car!

Floripa Surf house was the most beautiful, friendly and welcoming retreat. Only few steps from the beach and beautiful surroundings in Sicily. Food and accommodation were perfect, I had the most amazing room with hammocks just outside of it, woke up every morning with singing birds and sun.

I started every morning with a powerful Vinyasa yoga class led my the most amazing yoga instructor I´ve ever had. Ameriga is one of those people you dont find any day. I´ve done yoga for 13 years so I´ve had several instructors. She´s powerful, genuine, gentle and full of wisdom, still so humble and fun. I would follow her anywhere around the globe just to have one more yoga class with her.

    I actually just might !

The food was so good - italian - fresh - beautiful and varied between days.

I liked everything - but I would have wanted more SUP experience or other water sports activity but the wind and weather maybe werent the best. But we could have had done other waterstuff instead or instructions just on the sand just to learn more about SUP and other activity they seem to do.

I think all there was very welcoming, happy and please people! them do very much for you to feel happy and enjoy! loved yoga classes and teachers. yoga the teacher I had where inspiring and she know very much, it was interesting and fun to hear what she shared with US during class and beyond! she inspired yoga to be more modern as I thought about, it was good with the variation between yoga styles. liked that we had a little music they sing! yoga is very much listen to your body and how you feel today. it can be as challenging if you chose it as well. and a good start of the day and before barbacube! Whit good food! tried a little kitesurfing which was great fun! Michele was giant good so if you want to learn how to select him! wish I had stayed longer it was too short, I recommend this very much for everyone!

Loved the laid back attitude and lifestyle. Nothing is a problem. The rooms are lovely and fresh and cleaned daily. The yoga classes were brilliant.

Although the mattresses were great the bed slates made a lot of noise when turning so we ended up keeping each other awake most nights. The duvets are high quality but I found it hot in the night so a flat sheet as an extra if needed it would have been the perfect answer. Both things easily solvable.

I would have to say Floripa is one of the best experiences I've had on a Yoga retreat. Ameriga and Hannah were exceptional Yoga teachers incorporating Yoga Philosophy into the classes. They were well paced and suitable for every level. If we were cold we were given blankets. The attention to detail in every part of the holiday was thoughtful and welcoming. To the Hammocks, scented candles in the room, local sourced soap, bikes to explore, to the lovely cappuccinos.

The food at Breakfast and Dinner was A-Mazing!!! I could have lived off Simona's :egg: eggs!!

I would highly recommend coming here if you get the opportunity. The community feel and spirit attracted like minded individuals which made the stay even more perfect.

    Thank you

The only thing was that we didn't get much sunshine :) That's no reflection on the retreat though. Just Mother Nature !

The location was great, so close to the sea, the room was nicely decorated, food was OK too.

Oh, where to start, there are many things I would like to comment about here.

Where to start. Well, I did not like simplified lecture on yoga, shakti and quantum physics. It was rather very pseudo scientific and overly simplified. SImplification of the reality and simplification of history may be very dangerous thing to do. Second, the instructor showed us very strong attitude and ego which flies into the sky. Well, this is not what I expected from yoga retreat. I felt judged which should not have happened, no matter how much they despised me, they should not be so judgemental. I could not do with this attitude. On the other side, there was another yoga instructor, she showed more grounding, understanding and emotional intelligence.

Furthermore, when it comes to value, I thought I have electric bikes included in the package, but when I asked one of the ladies who worked there, she said that I have to pay 10 EUR extra. Well, at least normal bikes were included in the price. Second, I think that shuttles also cost rather too much, but in fact you are forced to take them unless you rent a car. further, there was no wifi in my room, I got the explanation why there was no internet, I understand that, but still, I should have been told that earlier. I wanted to stay one day longer simply because it was a lot of rain the day I left, but I was told I need to pay 90 EUR for one night if I wanted to do that. I quickly booked an apartment nearby which was wonderful and b&b was only 23 EUR, crazy.

I did not have much contact with kite surfing guys, so I could not comment much on that, but only yoga. Overall, beautiful surrounding, nice food, but lacks grounding. I would recommend that they take some course related to hospitality business and train their stuff better, I know we were the first group there, but still, you do not expect to come to yoga retreat and feel so down after taking it, and this is what happened to me. I have been on many yoga retreats, I know what I am talking about.

"Too expensive for what you get

    The arrival:

You should not arrive late at Floripa’s (even it’s not mentioned on the website), they are not prepared for it. We were told that someone would be waiting for us and bring us to our room, but nobody was there, we had to look for someone to help us at least 30 minutes. It happened to other guests too. The frustrating part was, that the person in charge not even apologized for it.

    The Stay in general:

The rooms were clean and seemed to be decorated with a lot of love. The beach was absolutely beautiful! Sadly some points on their website were wrong: there was no Jacuzzi and the kitchens were not fully equipped. One of the kitchens did not even have plates, glasses, pans, soap or anything else besides forks, knife and spoons. Every second day there was some very loud construction work done on the roof of the Yoga House, directly above our room. So we could not sleep in or just chill in on the “peaceful” private veranda we paid for. Also here: the owner was not even sorry (she would have been, if it started before 6 am – her words). In general, she was rude to us and really gave us the feeling, that she absolutely did not care at all, how our stay at Floripa’s is. Luckily there where some very nice persons too, like Simona, Ettore, Hanna and Michele, who gave us really kind advice where to go on the island for some daytrips and helped us out when we needed something.

    The Yoga:

During our stay there were too different Yoga teachers, one as a guest for a limited time and the other is one of the owners. So it makes only sense to talk about the “fix” Yoga with the owner as teacher. The style was challenging and kind of religious. If you like also saying mantras and listening to stories from Hindu-God’s during Yoga class, you will like it. It’s a matter of what style you like. The morning Yoga class was always on one of the rooftops, which was very nice when the sun was shining, but very cold (and wet!!!) when it was raining.

Response from Ameriga at Floripa Surf & Yoga House:

    Dear Fiona

We are sorry about the inconvenience you have experienced during your stay, we had just reopened that week so I supposed that’s the reason you did not find equipment in the kitchen (which were provided immediately when guests asked for them), and the Jacuzzi arrived on the second week after we reopened and it’s now working. About your late arrival (mid-night), we are a B&B, not a hotel, so we don't have staff on duty at night. We asked you to call the number of our receptionist once you arrived, so she could let you in, but you didn't call her and just rang the bell (for 5 minutes, but the receptionists was in the back of the house, that’s why she didn’t hear it). Then the yoga teacher opened the door and called the receptionist who showed you the room. This took around 10 minutes, we are sorry it was longer than you expected, it would have been shorter if you had called her on the phone. We get in touch with all our guests before they arrive to make sure they are received timely at any time of the day.

On the very first email your sent to us asking for an all-inclusive yoga package for 2 persons, you wrote (I am copying your email):

“But 650 is way too much! That would be 100 Euro per night just to sleep there. That does not make any sense when I can sleep there for 3 nights, with breakfast and dinner and 2 yoga classes included at 4 days. And its off-season now. Could you make me a cheaper offer? “

We offer some of the most affordable yoga packages in Italy, and we could not offer you the discount you asked for. Also, we were taken aback by the tone of your email: we try to create an environment where everybody respects each other- and also our work and our prices (which are totally reasonable). After a few days, you manage to book through another channel, and so you came to our place anyways; and even though you thought it was too expensive, you found a way to make it cheaper, for example not including the meals, which you cooked everyday in one of the kitchens and only dropping in every now and then at the yoga classes.

At checkout, after a week when you never seemed to experience any problem, you asked for the discount again, saying that at 10 o’clock in the morning one day there was noise being made by the constructions workers (who were in fact fixing the rooftop of the shala that was leaking). As you know, unexpectedly on the first week of our reopening, we realized that the rooftop of the shala was leaking, and it needed to be fixed as soon as possible in order to teach yoga in a warm space. No other guest complained about the noise, and you also did not complain about it during your stay.

With these premises, when suddenly at checkout you asked for a discount, we honestly thought that it was just an excuse you took, since you had been wanting a discount since the very beginning, and so we told you that we could not give a discount for noise at 10 am (especially since in our place everybody is up before 8 to do yoga).

It seems to us that denying the discount was the trigger for you to write such resentful review. You titled it "too expensive for what you get", but we think that our place was probably out of your budget regardless of what we provide, since from the very first enquire you asked for a discount.

We wish you good travels in the future. Shanti Shanti Shanti.

I have had a great stay at Floripa Kite Surf and Yoga House. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, the place was well kept and clean and the atmosphere was great! The food was excellent, great variety for breakfast and the dinners were lovely. I came to enjoy the yoga classes - and I did. The teachers were clearly experienced and gave a lot of personal attention during the class. They also managed to make it a challenge for every individual, regardless the level. My boyfriend joined the last couple days and even though he doesn't do any yoga, he really liked the place and enjoyed the atmosphere, food and activities they offer. So in sum, a great stay and I would highly recommend it!

Me and my friend stayed in Floripa Surf House for 5 days in August for a yoga retreat. We are French and we loved our time at Floripa. The room was beautiful, very clean and highly comfortable. The Yoga class twice a day were really nice. I learned a lot and I also improved my yoga practice. Floripa has a private beach with sunbed which is appreciable . The beach is not to crowded and it's very close (3 minutes by walk). During our stay we could use the paddles. Concerning the food, we had a good breakfast every morning at Floripa. If you want to have lunch or dinner in a restaurant you have to take the bike or rent a car, otherwise you can also have all your lunch and dinner at Floripa too. We really enjoyed our stay and yoga practice with our teacher Ameriga. Ameriga and all the staff were really nice and available. Floripa Surf House deserve a rate of 10 that's why we highly recommend Floripa Surf House.

I have been spending 4 days at Floripa Surf House in August this year and my time there was amazing. The breakfast prepared by Simona and Lidiane is so delicious and offers a variety of sweet and salty food. Ameriga is the best yoga teacher I have met so far, always there to correct you and always push you further. In 4 days, I have seen improvements that I never had in weekly classes. I really enjoy the lessons given by Ameriga. The beach is just beautiful and you can hang out at the kit surf spot where the team is lovely. The offer on water sports is good and diverse, so you can go for Kit surfing, wind surfing, etc. and most important the team is always there to help you out and provides advices on your technique.

My experience has been great and I definitely recommend people to spend time in Floripa Surf House, as the team will always make sure you spend a nice relaxing time with them.

Ameriga is an extremely gifted yoga instructor and an incredibly lovely person. I have never seen anyone love their job and people as much as she. Floripa is a wonderful haven for yoga enthusiasts who also want to be by the beach. Accommodation is clean and comfortable and the vegetarian food is creatively delicious. They offer 3 hours of yoga a day; Ashtanga flow in the morning and (more chill) Chi yoga in the evening. Ameriga also began to offer 2 classes to separate the beginners from the intermediate + .Great value for money too.

Ameriga took care of me as if I've known her for a long time. I went as a solo traveler and met amazing women who are as passionate about yoga as I am. I did not feel alone and can't rave about how warm the people are and good the food is.

I am particular about the yoga experience as well, this was my main reason for going to a yoga retreat after all. In only 4 days, i was able to practice, Ashtanga, Yin, Vinyasa Flow, and Inversions/arm balances workshop. I was lucky that Ameriga also touched on yoga philosophy. If you are looking at learning yoga or taking your practice to an intermediate or advance level, then this retreat is for you. She paid attention to everyone and we were encouraged to practice based on our level.

The beach was a bonus. Sandy and clean! Perfect place to have fun, paddle board, make friends, or just lay out.

I would definitely come back and have recommended this retreat to my friends already.

I visited Floripa Sur House with my mum for 4 days. It was an incredible place which far exceeded our expectations. The rooms were clean and big, the beaches were sandy and uncrowded, yoga was excellent and carried out in a very professional Shala. The hosts Ameriga and Ettore are very friendly and make a great effort to ensure that their guests are looked after well. We had yoga lessons from Makenzie who was a visiting yoga teacher from Canada. We really enjoyed the lessons as it catered even to my level (never having done yoga before). The other guests at the Surf house were really nice people and the evenings spent eating tasty vegetarian meals together was hugely enjoyable. I highly recommend the Floripa Surf House experience.

My time at Floripa Surf House could truly not have been better. We had a couple of special circumstances that Ameriga went above and beyond to help us with before arrival. Every day and every person were an absolute joy. Thank you, Floripa!

Words cannot adequately describe what a truly amazing week I spent at Floripa Surf House - but here are some that came into my mind on the last night there. Tranquil, inspiring, welcoming, special, honest, challenging, restorative, international, nourishing, beautiful, chilled, calming - Unique! From the first contact I made with Floripa, I had a positive feeling about booking my first ever yoga retreat. Even though Ameriga was studying in India, I received a speedy and helpful reply to my initial enquiry. I was not sure if at 62 years old - it would work well for me. She answered all my questions.

So I need have had no such reservations - in fact - without any hesitation - I can say that it is the best week I have ever spent and I plan to return as soon as I can. It has taken my yoga to another level and I finally - with support and encouragement - mastered a wheel and a headstand! The visiting yoga teacher Makenzie was excellent and truly passionate about her work - all the staff welcomed me warmly and I felt at home within hours of arriving - this wonderful feeling continued throughout the week and I kept wondering what I had done to deserve such an enlightening and positive experience. It has proved to me that one is never too old to find paradise!

Ameriga and Ettore have created a truly outstanding business and I look forward to following the continuing development of Floripa Surf House.

I had a wonderful stay at Floripa Surf House. Where to start? The first email contact was with Ameriga and I felt very warmly welcomed. She was so helpful that I booked everything immediately. I arrived pretty late in Catania and took the bus to Pozzallo where Ettore picked me up. Five minutes drive to the lovely spot called home for almost one week for me.

The room was very nice, clean, neat and surferlike. In the morning we had a wonderful yoga class with Rea from Greece, afterwards the breakfast (which I really miss every day) made by Simona, the friendly cooking queen. Best cake and dinner ever!Everybody was so helpful. I am very grateful that I made this experience and I will choose this spot again. I really fell in love with the little puppy. The Floripa Surf House is a perfect spot for yoga, SUP, surfing, kite surfing, relaxing, meditation, meeting lovely people and finding a bit more yourself. The e-bikes have been so much fun! The last day we went to the Etna, which was amazing. My favorite place is a spot between the dunes close to the sea. We walked about 3 minutes by foot to the sea!

Thanks you so much Ettore, Rea, Simona and Ameriga, even if I didn't meet you personally, you got me at first sight. The time flew...so I need to come back. Nothing I could add, cause it's more than a recommendation when you feel like at home.Grazie mille!

Floripa Surf House is such an amazing place. The staff is very friendly and it has a family-like feeling. The yoga classes are mostly Hatha for the morning and Vinyasa for the evening, sometimes Yin. As I was mostly interested in Yin and was for a large part of the holiday the only one doing yoga classes there, we did Yin every day. It was really luxurious to get private tuition. Once we did evening yoga at the beach at sunset time. Santa Maria del Focallo beach is stunning, and at the beginning of October it was practically empty. The waves are quite big for SUPping though - a challenge! This is a very lovely place to be on a yoga holiday. However, it is not very retreat-like as people come and go on different days, alcohol is served on the dinner, and music plays on the terrace etc. I was totally okay with that but some might be seeking a different thing - it is good to know beforehand. But for a relaxed yoga holiday, this is perfect! The village is small but there is a grocery so if you plan to take only the breakfast package, it is doable even without cycling to Pozzallo (20 minutes). The grocery has fresh veggies, fruits, cheese, juices, canned beans, bread, etc. and there is a fridge in the room at Floripa.

I can truly say that I loved each and every minute of my time there, and only wish that I could have stayed longer. Everything that is presented on their website is precisely what you get. No surprises, what they offer, they provide. The accommodation was true to every photo that you see, a true "surf house". Baba cool, and very laid back. It is simple and clean. Initially, we had a small problem with a smell in the bathroom, but the minute that we told Ameriga, the problem was solved efficiently, and they had a plumber in to fix the problem immediately. From then on, they never stopped asking if things were still okay and continued to apologize even as we were checking out.We had a pick up organized for our arrival into Catania airport, and again, all good. We also had a transfer back to the airport and again, ideal. The breakfast and dinners were extraordinary. A huge thank you, incredible. I loved being invited to sit around the big table and enjoy a beautiful meal, in the company of the owners and their staff. You truly feel at home, and welcomed at each and every moment.I am a fully certified STOTT PILATES instructor and instructor trainer in mat and ref. I have never had any yoga experience, and my vacation was based on learning about yoga. I loved it and loved the instruction! I can never thank Ameriga and Aliza enough for allowing me to share and learn about their passion. A wonderful new discovery. I loved the fact that every class was different and well prepared in advance. Being a client was such a delight and the girls were wonderful at incorporating beginners along with true yogis. Bravo, it was awesome. The beach is a two minute walk from the surf house, and one a dream for swimming. I can not comment on any of the water sports as this time around I stuck to swimming and some much needed "me" time.I hope to go back to Floripa Surf House and would highly recommend it.Something to consider is that unless you plan to rent a car, it is quite remote. However, that is what I had hoped for. I wanted R&R with no touring. Again, ideal for me. Perhaps for others too remote. If you are there to surf and enjoy yoga, to simply "be" then it's the perfect spot for you.I can't thank the owners enough for their warm and enchanting welcome. You truly feel like you are a part of their lives, passion, and family.Thank you Floripa Surf House. I loved each and every minute.

Floripa Surf House offers more than a yoga retreat; its welcoming and friendly hosts make you feel like you are visiting friends. It's perfect for couples, families and solo travellers alike. I travelled alone and was able to relax in my own space, but it's also the perfect place to meet new people too and I made some great friends to go to dinner with and try new activities with.As I'm a novice yogi, I didn't know what to fully expect. My intention was to learn about yoga, challenge my body and calm my mind. Floripa Surf House gave me all that and more: Ameriga is an inspirational instructor and has taught me lessons that have come home with me and will help me in my everyday life from now on.I absolutely loved the rhythm of morning Vinyasa sessions, which left me feeling energised and the evening Yin sessions, which have really helped stretch out my stiff body. In just one week, I sank into poses I couldn't do at the beginning of my stay. I have a long way to go, but thanks to Ameriga pushing me, I know I can do it if I keep up the practice. We even tried anti-gravity yoga with hammocks on one Yin session, which was just amazing and I loved the inverted positions. It feels like you're flying! There is plenty to do away from the yoga too I had a surf lesson, went on a boat excursion and I also hired one of their electric bikes, which were awesome fun. You get some funny looks when you're accelerating uphill and I clocked 50km in one day! Away from the adventure, there's plenty of relaxation to be had on the beach or simply reading in one of their hammocks.I already want to go back to that Sicilian escape and couldn't recommend it more highly for anyone looking to get away from the stresses of the world.

I already miss this place and am planning to come back next year. Thank you Ameriga and Ettore!

I've thoroughly enjoyed a long May holiday in Floripa. Ameriga is a great yoga instructor and I loved her classes. If you tell her about some particular goals you want to achieve she'll make certain adjustments for you. I learnt a lot from her and look forward to coming back again.Water sports is an amazing perk, these guys have everything - surf boards, kite, SUP. All this will keep the balance between zen and fun.I felt as a family member there, a large Sicilian family member. There's a massive kite community out there and Floripa seems to be the place where they all gather. Highly recommend to everybody. Namaste.

The Dalai Lama said, 'Once a year go to a place you have never been before'. This quote encapsulates my desire to travel. Travel is intensified living. Traveling to Sicily was not only to enhance my spiritual path but ultimately to visit the country of my ancestors. I am so beyond grateful to Bookyogaretreats.com and Floripa Surf House. These words find you with respect, reverence and gratitude. Quite simply, spending a week at Floripa Surf House in Sicily enhanced and changed my life. I traveled to Floripa simply for a yoga retreat but received so much more. Staying for one week at Floripa was just the right amount of time to relax, surf and sightsee. Travel by bus was easy to other cities in Sicily from Pozzallo which was seven kilometers from Floripa. The kindness and positive energy were palpable on arrival. Ameriga and Ettore are amazing hosts who made me feel at home right away. At Floripa everything is a celebration of life. The Shakti or fullness of being was present in every moment. The sea and beach were just a few meters from the B&B. Surf boards and wet suits were provided for rent at a convenient price. The beauty of the nature surrounding was indescribable. The rooms were spacious, cleaned everyday and extremely comfortable. A delicious home-cooked breakfast was provided every morning and food requests were welcome. Ettore, Ameriga and Giovanna were so beyond kind in every moment. It was so wonderful not to have to worry about anything. It was true peace. I have a new awareness for the amount of attention to detail and prompt customer service. This yoga retreat in Sicily allowed me to question where I am in my spiritual path. We have learned to identify with our emotions rather than feel them. Yet at Floripa, emotions were celebrated and embraced. The ability to be in awe of nature's every moment was pure bliss. Watching the clouds drift by, the current come in and out like that of a breath - allowed me to meditate on the idea that nature is in no rush - it is divine in all of its moments. In our chaotic society we tend to distance ourselves from the perfection of nature. Yet, this is unnecessary and limiting. Ameriga taught me the Yama Satya or Truthfulness during our yoga sessions. She emphasized that truthfulness is not only to be true to yourself but true in your words. A Niyama Ameriga taught was Santosha or Contentment, allowing me to be aware of the path I am on and whether or not this path is influenced by outside pressures. The Vinyasa yoga every morning was the perfect way to start the day. Beginning by saluting the kiss of the Sicilian sun was pure bliss. It allowed me to go to the bliss state on the subtle layer. Then, every evening we ended with a relaxing and peaceful Yin yoga practice by the light of the moon and the singing of the birds to meditate on. It was a true embrace and love of nature in every moment. There are no words in English that can express how I feel for Sicily and Floripa Surf House so I will say it in Italian: Il mio amore che mai finir per Sicilia. Grazie mille! The light within me recognizes the light within you. Namaste.

I felt happy in that place. Very experienced yoga teachers, very comfortable two yoga shalas - one for the morning, another for the evening. Great food. Lots of guests from everywhere in the world. We once went to the forest nearby, for pranayama and taitchi. It was very friendly atmosphere. The owners of retreat are always available for you, and ready to talk. The beach is 19 km long, sand, clean. The bikes are given for free. Beautiful memories.

I took a small group of Yoga students to Floripa for my first solo Yoga retreat and loved it so much that I have already re-booked for next year. Most of the people in my group have said they also want to return. While I was planning my visit, I had lots of questions for poor Ameriga, who runs the place with her partner, Etore. But she was incredibly patient and always replied promptly to my emails. Nothing was too much trouble. This set the tone for our stay. When we arrived Ameriga was away but we were left in the very capable hands of Giada and Simona who were also unbelievably helpful and thoughtful. Floripa is a really special place, it's so calm, peaceful and chilled out. It has a cool, kind of retro feel to it. Although this is not five star accommodation, I loved the quirky rooms, each with their own individual style and they were kept very clean. We tucked into hearty, delicious brunches every morning, a light lunch and then a filling dinner in the evenings. All the food was healthy, vegetarian, home cooked and fresh. For me one of the best things about Floripa is the spectacular nearby beach which was so quiet and clean. The white sand is soft and the sea was just the right temperature for swimming in. I was lucky enough to do a class with Ameriga and she is an energetic, inspiring and highly knowledgeable teacher. For anyone who loves the beach and Yoga and also appreciates peace and quiet, this place is perfect. It's ideal for just getting away from it all and chilling out.

Floripa is just perfect on every level. I spent the last 4 days of my trip here, and after visiting other countries and catching up with friends, this was a brilliant way to end the trip on my own and an absolute highlight. The casual atmosphere of Floripa brings people from all nationalities together over delicious breakfasts and dinners. It was a joy meeting new people from far flung countries, and as you can stay for as little or as long as you like, you're constantly greeting and farewelling which was great too. Yoga on the beach or rooftops was a perfect start and end to the day. And the 5km beach over the road was completely empty except the Floripa Surf House guests! The staff all make you feel so welcome which I was very grateful for being a novice solo traveller. I would definitely go back - Floripa was beyond wonderful and I'd highly recommend it for friends, couples or solo travellers.

We stayed with "adult kids" in Floripa for a week to celebrate a family event. It was a great holiday with a nice mixture of Yoga, beach activities and good food. We all enjoyed the vegetarian cooking with good company at Floripa. We also ate at some good local restaurants a few evenings. The yoga teacher was superb and training yoga in the sunshine of the rooftop in October when you come from "cold" Scandinavia is rather amazing. Couldn't give Floripa better recommendations!

Everything about Floripa was amazing. The Yoga was the best I've ever experienced with excellent teachers. The food was always plentiful and nutritious. I would have liked to see more traditional Italian food, but that was no bother. The people running the surf house are very down to earth and super friendly and always had a smile on their... and why wouldn't you living in this beautiful place?

Floripa Surf and Yoga House is a wonderful place for many reasons and many types of travelers. This has been my second visit there, as last year was so brilliant. The main benefit to me is the wonderful friendly, personal and completely informal atmosphere, created by owners Ameriga and Ettore. I am not a regular yoga person, but benefited enormously from the sessions there, with absolutely brilliant and super professional guest teachers. I now aim to do yoga regularly, thanks to their advice and inspiration. As a solo traveler, I love the opportunity to meet other like minded travellers, have the group breakfasts and lovely vegetarian dinners, and all the fascinating connections and conversations that occur. Equally, I really appreciate the well equipped kitchen if I want to cook for myself. The setting is ideal too, with the beautiful and huge beach just across the road, allowing for long energetic or relaxing walks and swimming of course. You have the beach almost to yourself too. Then you can also cycle or drive to the next little town, pozzallo for dinners or shopping. This year I discovered more gorgeous spots cycling further in the other direction along the coast. For beautiful and interesting cultural trips, you can drive to many surrounding towns and villages to visit churches, roman ruins, caves and natural reserves. And of course there is the surfing, but as that's not my thing, I'll let others talk about it. Lastly, beyond the human connection, I really love the 2 friendly dogs there, Avaya and Flash, a little fiery terrier and a quiet older husky. Whether you want company or independence, quiet relaxation or activity, don't hesitate to stay there.

Really excellent food also vegan. Staff is very generous with everything (bikes, boards, guitar, petting dogs). Nice Yoga-Surf-Style, you feel instantly at home (also because of the dogs). Beach is wild, no there people there in September. Lovely eucalyptus forest nearby. Yoga on the roof, under the stars (with sometimes very sweet and warm dog on your knees in meditation). :)

I stayed at Florida for two weeks at the beginning of October 2016 and had the most fantastic holiday. My room was a great size, very clean and the housekeeper cleaned the rooms every morning when we were at yoga. I had a peek at some of the other rooms and they were all brilliant. The different buildings have different themes and styles but they all looked wonderful. The food was delicious and even though I'm not a vegetarian, I loved everything they made for us. That said, when Ettore did the BBQ nights, I was a the front of the queue and was delighted to find he is a top BBQ chef! The beach is a 2 minute walk over the road and it's a breath-taking 13km stretch of a beauty. When I was there, it was low-season so the beach was very quiet and we pretty much had it to ourselves. What more can you ask for?! The yoga was superb and Sofia is a truly amazing teacher. I particularly loved her yin classes in the evenings where her calming voice and approach worked beautifully with that style of practice. We also had Ameriga for some classes; she too is an amazing teacher and her energy is genuinely inspiring. Her arm-balance workshop is an absolute must for everyone! They have different resident teachers but Ameriga is so passionate about yoga that I have no doubt all the teachers she picks will be some of the very best. Overall, this is one of the best holidays I've had and am already planning my return next year.

We arrived at Floripa in the afternoon, and soon we joined the other guests for a Yoga session. The session was on the roof, with a wonderful view of the south Sicily hills, a cool breeze from the sea.....fantastic. Thank you to Magda our teacher for the week! We then joined the other guests for a communal meal, great food, great atmosphere. People from all over the world, sharing their experiences.....Ettore and Ameriga also joined in, and they made all efforts so that our stay was perfect. A special mention to Simona and Giada, always smiling and helpful! We took advantage of the possibility to rent a car, and visited southern Sicily (to be seen, amazing baroque towns, and the film sets of ispettore Montalbano)....We simply did not want to leave at the end! Floripa will stay in our heart..... Our daughter also did yoga, only Marco did not have the right waves for surfing, we will have to come back : )

At Floripa you'll have the time of your life. Everybody is so relaxt. They come here to (kite) surf and/or come for the great and intensive yoga. Mckenzie and Amariga are great instructors with passion and love for yoga. But not too intense, so the "normal" People don't have to get scared of having changing their lives into yogi style. Big plus: there is wine at diner time!! Haha. And the food is also great and prepaired with love. Just great for a small time-out.

We received a warm welcome by Ameriga and Ettore, who met us at the port in Pozzallo. All the staff were very friendly and looked after us well. The accommodation was new, tasteful, clean, air conditioned and left nothing to desire. The yoga classes are held outside on a beautiful roof terrace and are of very high standard. Even as relative beginners we managed to follow and enjoy them very much. The catering was simple but agreeable and sufficient. A vast flawless beach with sunbeds, umbrellas and restaurant in short walking distance is only a few meters away from the residence. Overall we have no complaints and we will definitely visit again.

    Exceeded expectations!

Just fab! I traveled on my own and before arriving had read the reviews on here but I was still anxious. Once I arrived I was welcomed by Ameriga, who is the yoga teacher and a wonderful host. My room (which I shared) was lovely, really clean and comfortable. The house, the hammocks and the weather was all awesome. Yoga is fantastic although it highlighted how rubbish I am, but Ameriga makes you feel comfortable and encourages you to try!

The food is wonderful. I met some really lovely people during my stay and will definitely be returning.

    Highly recommend!

Relaxing break I hoped it would be!

I've never been on a yoga retreat. I feel like this is the most amazing surf break you are likely to have with wonderful yoga classes as well. I didn't do the SUP, but next time.

When I first turned up, I was greeted by Ettore and Simona (the best cook/housekeeper ever). Simona's breakfasts are legendary. She makes cake and bread. Along with this are cereals, yogurts, fruit juices, fruit salad, jams, eggs cooked to order with ham or bacon and tomatoes. All this is washed down with strong espresso coffee, cappuccinos made to order or tea.

I stayed in the blue surf room on the corner on the ground floor. This room is huge and can fit a family of four. There is air conditioning, a shower, TV and comfy beds. Best of all, there is a wonderfully inviting hammock outside the room.

When I was there, it was off season, so no families. July and August, Ameriga (our hostess) explained to me was full of families with young children.

I was on the all-inclusive package which meant I had breakfast, lunch, dinner, wine with dinner, yoga classes and SUP included. The food was excellent. Simona would make the pasta and Ameriga would make my massive salads.

The schedule was Vinyasa yoga at 8 am. Then breakfast. Day to yourself doing whatever, whether on the Floripa sun loungers on the beach (turn left) (less than five minutes walk from Floripa) or kite surfing and SUP yoga (turn right at the beach).

The beach was beautiful and deserted with the exception of a few people on Sunday when it was very windy, and there appeared an orchestra of kite surfers. The coordination was something to behold. You could walk for about 6 kilometers one way and 3 kilometers the other way on the beach.

At 5 or 6 and sometimes 5 and 6 in the evening, there was Yin or Yinyasa yoga. Ameriga is the main instructor. My first class was held in Italian, but that was fun because it meant I had to really watch everyone else. Ameriga speaks excellent English and made sure I was never lost. Ameriga's classes really make you think about your intentions and motivations.

The other instructor when I was there was the lovely Rebecca (Becky). She is American, and was doing a three-week stint as a visiting instructor. What I loved is that Ameriga and Becky's classes were different, but both very spiritual. I felt grounded and relaxed at the end of my break.

In the evening, there were various themed dinners. My first night (Friday) it was pizza and movie (Cinema Paradiso) night, Saturday is the most gorgeous BBQ which includes steak, sausages and vegetarian options plus salads and veggies, all washed down with beer and wine. Sunday was vegetarian cooking, Monday, I don't remember, but you get the idea.

The dinners are group ones, and because there is no set day to start your break, there is a constant ebb and flow of different people all there to relax and chill out and enjoy each other's company. There was a mixture of couples and singles when I was there. The great thing, for me, is that by 10:30 / 11:00 pm, it is quiet which ensures a good night's sleep. If you want a lively resort, I would say go elsewhere.

On my last day, we went for a trip to Modica - famous for its chocolate and churches. We all really enjoyed it.

If you want a relaxing, no frills surf house with great company, food, yoga and surfing. If you want something more fancy, go elsewhere. There are two dogs here as well - one large and one teeny, tiny who barks a lot. There are friendly.

I intend to visit again next year - out of season. You couldn't ask for better hosts or company.

You can get the bus from the airports, and they will pick you up in Pozzallo or you can get a car from the airport for an additional charge. Namaste!

I stayed at the Floripa with four other adults for four nights at Easter. It was an ideal place to say as a base for visiting the baroque towns in the south-east of Sicily. I really miss the walk along the beach in the morning before our breakfast - I had fresh fruit salad with yoghurt, then home-made cake every morning. We were given the top floor of the main building, which had three big bedrooms plus a kitchen and large balconies. We didn't use the kitchen as eating out is cheap in this area (I live in Milan). We will certainly stay here again if we ever go back to this lovely part of Italy.

The houses and rooms are lovely, the vegetarian food delicious and if you ask for things they are very accommodating. It's a typical 'surf house' and not very Italian - so you should be pretty self-sufficient. In that respect you need a car to be here as there are no grocery shops or restaurants within a two mile radius. If you want amazing beach, water sports, yoga mats, lovely company and relaxation then this is a great place to stay!
