National Geographic dubbed San Sebastián (Zurriola Beach) as one of the 20 best cities in the world for surfing. It is a marvelous place where there is a lot to do, both in and out of the water. In addition to surfing, you'll learn Spanish at El Aula Azul and have private bedroom in a family's home, so that you can live like a local in San Sebastian! Classes start every Monday and you can sign up for 1 - 4 weeks.

Accommodation
The availability of accommodation in San Sebastián is limited, especially in the high season (summer and Holy Week) and for that reason, it's important to make reservations in advance. With this package, you'll have accommodation in an apartment shared with Spanish residents.
Features of the shared apartment:
- You will have your own room with the right to use common areas, including the kitchen to prepare your meals.
- You will share a flat with Spanish professionals between 30 to 50 years of age, including the owner of the flat.
- The shared flat option is only available for individuals older than 18; couples may have to go to separate homes.
- Information about the flat will be provided the Wednesday before your arrival.
- Although most flats are located near the center of the city and the school, during high season, this may not be the case. However, all are located within the city limits and SS is small and walkable. And, public transport in SS is fast and cheap.

An emblematic building in an unbeatable location of San Sebastián; within walking distance to La Concha beach, you can enjoy the beach right after finishing your classes. In addition, the location in the city center will make it possible for you to easily access the best places to visit, public transport within the city and to other destinations, shops, bars and restaurants.
Facilities
El Aula Azul has four spacious, fully equipped classrooms designed for effective learning. El Aula Azul has computers, projectors, and everything you may need during your course. When it's time to for a break, there's a common area with sofas, a coffee machine, and information about activities and suggestions to make the most of your free time in San Sebastian.
Total immersion programme
At El Aula Azul, the priority is to help you practice your Spanish with a real and effective approach. With the classes, you'll improve and learn new things but if what you want is an authentic immersion in the language, they also offer a unique program that will help you practice Spanish to the fullest.
Totally free and directed at students whose native language is English or who are fluent in English (C1 level). Upon arrival, El Aula Azul will offer you the option to participate in the program through four options: language exchanges, "talking pal", and fun activities.
- Language exchange
Every Tuesday evening, El Aula Azul organizes a language exchange in a bar in San Sebastián. It is supervised by one of the teachers who will be in charge of distributing time so that everyone can practice the language in which they are interested.
- Talking pal
El Aula Azul will assign you a "buddy" who speaks Spanish with whom you can meet to complete different assignments given by your teacher. As they will be an English student, you must also help them with their assignments. How about if they help you write a piece about an interesting topic and you give them your opinion on another? A formula for collaborative learning where you can also meet new people.
- Fun activities
Almost every week, El Aula Azul offers a city tour and other outings like a pintxo tour or a visit to a museum or cider house. All activities are with one of the native Spanish teachers and a good time is sure to be had by all!

Location
San Sebastian is a laid-back city rich in cultural life with great festivals (the International Film Festival, the Jazz Festival, etc.) and a vibrant nightlife and food scene. It is small, comfortable, and accessible. And it is beautiful, very beautiful; not only the sunny summer days are nice, but the rainy winter days are also charming. There is no bad weather, only unsuitable clothing. It is a tourist city (its beauty is a great tourist attraction) and increasingly multicultural, but it still keeps its traditions (the Tamborrada, the St. Thomas' day, etc.) and, therefore, its authenticity.
It has beaches for all tastes: a wild one (Zurriola) for surfing and two quieter ones (La Concha and Ondarreta) for bathing, swimming, and walking. You cannot leave San Sebastián without taking a stroll by La Concha bay! It's an ideal city to practice sports: take a run along La Concha beach or the river, cruise around the city by bike, surf in La Zurriola,sign up for classes at one of the many private or public gyms...and much more!
It is surrounded by hills and it has plenty of places just minutes away where you can go hiking and enjoy fresh air and nature. It is one of the ideal places to taste the exquisite Basque gastronomy and the famous pintxos. A traditional city that, without losing its essence, is becoming international.

Things to do (optional)
To keep all students motivated, El Aula Azul offers a varied calendar of both free and paid activities. These events are led by our own school teachers. With so much to do, you'll have no choice but to speak Spanish!
Summer: Activities run Monday through Thursday, usually in the afternoon.
Winter: Usually one paid activity a week.
El Aula Azul organizes many excursions where students pay the cost upfront at the school. These outings might include things like a visit to the Cider Museum, canoeing on the river, or a trip to Getaria to see the Balenciaga Museum.
Other events are completely free, such as our popular pintxo-pote (a local tradition involving a small bite and drink).

Bilbao Airport (BIO) offers flights from many European cities. There is a direct bus from the airport to the San Sebastián bus station every hour.
You may also arrive at San Sebastian Airport (EAS), all flights are via Madrid or Barcelona. There is a bus from the airport to San Sebastián every 20 minutes.
You may also arrange your flight to Biarritz-Anglet-Bayonne Airport (BIQ). There is a bus from the airport to the San Sebastián bus station.
Arrival by train
With Renfe to the San Sebastián train station in the city center, Madrid to San Sebastián is five hours and 30 minutes while Barcelona to San Sebastián is six hours.
In less than 6 hours, the high speed train from Paris takes you to the border town of Hendeya, which is only 20 km from the center of San Sebastián
Arrival by bus
The travel time from Madrid to San Sebastián by bus will be five to six hours, while it's six to seven hours from Barcelona.
