Program
You are on. Damo Surf Camp recommends this program to anyone that wants to get into a different level. Stay with them for seven days and consolidate all the knowledge that would take several months to learn. They will swipe every topic and exercise to help you improve the art of surfing. By the end of this program, you will be able to tap clean green waves and be confident in all aspects. There is no better place to start your surf journey. Your first surf lesson will consist of 30 minutes on surfing theory and water safety.
Here, you will touch on topics such as conditions, tides, different kinds of waves, and how to read them such as wind, swell, and signals. On the beach, you will go through a few drills to make sure you have a solid base and technique. Then it is time to hit the water. In your second lesson, Damo Surf Camp will keep teaching you how to read the conditions, how to get in and out of the water, ocean awareness, and how to maneuver your surfboard and weight distribution. Once you are standing up, riding a wave is all about turning the board.
Turning starts with your eyes. Wherever you direct your eyes, your body, and eventually your board, will follow. Your third lesson consists of learning surf etiquette. It is very important to be respected and give respect in the water to those who are also having fun like you. So Damo Surf Camp will give you the necessary knowledge to be able to paddle out, honor the priority system, catch an unbroken wave, and then ride down the line.
The fourth and fifth lessons are to consolidate the knowledge learned and keep improving your skills. Damo Surf Camp will record you on camera so you can see yourself surfing and analyze the video with you afterward. In the sixth lesson, they want to guide and assist you to be able to catch green unbroken waves completely by yourself. Every day, you will have an activity included that is related either to improving your surfing or enjoying the beautiful area.
Included excursions
You will experience one of the best views/lookouts at sunset hiking the beautiful Miro mountain in town.
- Guided Meditation/Breathing exercises: keep your mindfulness and calm within yourself plus they will teach you how to expand your lung capacity and confidence
- Yoga: do yoga on the rooftop with an ocean view and get the stress out and feel good with your Vinyasa instructor
- Video analysis: sit down and check out videos of you surfing, seeing opportunities for growth, and improving your technique

ATV jungle waterfall adventure
Go off-road on rugged trails during a half-day ATV tour from Playa Jacó. After a short orientation, choose to ride or drive your ATV over mountain terrain and through stream beds where you can expect to get wet and muddy. Stop at a panoramic viewpoint and waterfalls where you can take a dip in the natural pool. Suitable for active people who enjoy a challenging ride.
Carara National Park
Just north and stretching into the mountains is a vast expanse of pristine rainforest. Carara National Park has a small network of trails that lead through primary and secondary forests. They even have a loop that is handicap accessible. Along any of the trails, you can see wildlife like monkeys, leaf-cutter ants, and lots of birds. In fact, Carara is considered to be one of the best birding spots in Costa Rica with over 400 different species identified.
Day tour to Isla Tortuga on Sea Lounge Catamaran
Escape to a secluded paradise on a day cruise to Isla Tortuga, a hidden island on the Nicoya Peninsula that’s only accessible by boat. Enjoy the 40-minute catamaran ride from Jacó Beach, and spend several hours relaxing on beach hammocks or trying watersports like the banana boat, snorkeling, and boogie boarding. Stay refreshed with tropical cocktails and a fresh chef’s lunch prepared right on the beach.
Manuel Antonio Park
Manuel Antonio National Park, on Costa Rica’s central Pacific coast, encompasses rugged rainforest, white-sand beaches, and coral reefs. It is renowned for its vast diversity of tropical plants and wildlife, from three-toed sloths and endangered white-faced capuchin monkeys to hundreds of bird species. The park’s roughly 680 hectares are crossed with hiking trails, which meander from the coast up into the mountains.
Tarcoles River boat crocodile tour
On your way to Jacó, you will pass a bridge with crowds of people leaning over and looking down. Basking along the banks of the Tarcoles River below, you will find huge crocodiles. While the bridge is a decent spot to watch the crocs, the boat tour up the river is even better. Damo Surf Camp enjoys this tour because not only do you get very close to the crocs but there are amazing views and you get to see a lot of birds and other wildlife too.
Waterfall tours or canyoning
Take a break from the beach for a different kind of fun in Jacó with this action-packed canyoning adventure. Soar through the rainforest on ziplines, rappel down tropical waterfalls, and scramble down a rocky riverbed. No experience is required, as expert guides are on hand to ensure a safe and unforgettable romp through Costa Rica’s natural playground.
Zip-line
Fly through 14 cables, one suspended bridge, unique ocean views, and a lot of fun in a magnificent rainforest. Fly from tree to tree at 30 miles per hour in zip lines that go through the mountains and stretch along the coast, with an amazing landscape created from a perfect combination of the rain forest lush vegetation and the sea breeze. There is simply no other ride like this.
