Conde Surf Camp

I grew up going to the beach in Vila do Conde, but I never really saw it as a surfing spot. Only in recent years did I start getting into surfing, and I wanted to rediscover this place through that lens.

That’s exactly what I found here - an authentic surfing experience in the north of Portugal. The instructor was incredibly knowledgeable, but more importantly, genuinely friendly and welcoming. From the start, he created an atmosphere that felt relaxed and real.

He also took me to some truly breathtaking beaches, and something that made a big difference: unlike a lot of camps or lessons where the water is crowded, he prioritises small groups, and often we had the whole beach just for us, to learn and practice.

What stood out the most is that it didn’t feel like just another “surf camp” or tourist activity. It felt like being part of the surfing culture - like I was learning to be a surfer, not just trying it for a day.

I felt like I have a home to rest and enjoy surfing at in the middle of a long vacation.

Francisco was amazing, he is a very passionate guide, he maneged to see my challenges and make a specific plan for me that really helped me improve. and he didn't give up on me even when I did :). He toght us the technic, but also about the surfing and local colture and had great recommendations. We had great fun! :)

the house is nice and simple, it has a shared room that is planed really smart and you have your private corner.

If you're looking for a small, hommy and simple (and very profesinal) that's the place for you. I will go back for sure :)

I booked a surf camp with Francisco. Because five other people had already booked, I was the last one to arrive.

Normally, he has eight beds, but for non private groups, he only has six. I received all the necessary information before arriving. Because I arrived early, I was able to start surfing on the very first day. He was waiting for me and welcomed me. Francisco is a very friendly, hard-working person who provides a fresh breakfast with a wide selection every day. He is always available for any concerns, and solutions are quickly addressed. I was a single woman with five guys and never felt uncomfortable. The accommodation is small but nice. The beds are comfortable. Surfing was a lot of fun. Thanks to his tips and tricks, I learned a lot in the five days and developed significantly my skills. I could very well imagine returning to the Conde Surf Camp and Vila do Conde again!

Wir hatten eine super Woche im Surfcamp. Die Unterkunft war top, in die im Laufe der Woche noch weitere Surfcampteilnehmerinnen dazu kamen, mit denen wir eine gute Zeit hatten. Die Küche war gut ausgestattet und Francisco hat immer geschaut, dass ausreichend Sachen fürs Frühstück da waren und uns zusätzlich nach weiteren Wünschen gefragt.

Für die Surfstunden hat Francisco immer nach dem besten Spot für unser Surflevel geschaut und ist mit uns dann da hin gefahren. Die Surfbetreuung war sehr individuell, da wir zwischen 2 und 5 Personen in der Surfstunde waren. Das hat uns sehr geholfen und aufs nächste Level gebracht.

Im großen und ganzen hatten wir eine super schöne Woche mit vielen Fortschritten und mega viel Spaß.

Danke an Francisco, der alles für uns gemacht hat, dass wir uns wohl fühlen und eine gute Zeit haben.

We had a great time at Franciscos surfcamp.

We could surf everyday, by having lessons or on our own. His philosophy belongs more to learning by doing, what we really enjoyed and which suited our learning process.

In the end of the week, we could surf in real waves, which is a lot of fun!

Francisco always took care, that the camp is save, enough food is around and that we have good experiences with surfing.

We will miss the camp and hope to see you again!

Es war alles sehr schön, die Unterkunft war sehr schön eingerichtet. Francisco war sehr aufmerksam. Ich hatte eine schöne Zeit 😌

It was a great experiencie staying in Villa do Conde. Francisco was always helping us in everything we need. The house was clean and tidy and the surf classes were so fun, we ride our fist waves the first day!

It’s a small, cozy cottage—perfect for a few close friends to stay in and learn how to surf.

The location couldn’t be better: you’re at the beach in just two minutes and at a large supermarket in five.

Francisco, the host, is incredibly warm and genuine—a true surf instructor at heart. He does everything himself and takes great care of his guests, is super flexible when it comes to planning, and always has fantastic recommendations on hand.

I’d recommend renting the entire cottage if you’re travelling with friends or family, but it’s also ideal for solo adventurers who don’t mind sharing rooms and want to meet new people.

Francisco ist einfach ein so toller und lieber Gastgeber und Surflehrer. Er kümmert sich sehr aufopferungsvoll um seine Gäste und ist immer für einen Spaß zu haben. Wir sind nach unserem Aufenthalt sogar noch gemeinsam auf ein Festival in Porto gegangen. Die Surfstunden waren auch super, er konnte uns sehr tolle Strände zeigen und war auch sehr flexibel was die Zeiten betraf.

amazing experience living here for a surf camp. not only was the host super friendly and helpful, the living environment was also extremely homey and comfortable. super close proximity to the beach, and the coaching sessions for surfing was directed to each individual and super flexible, allowing for us to work on our weaknesses. would definitely come back to surf given the opportunity.

I really liked the house - I had it all for myself this time, since there was a low tourist season. I loved the location, very close to the beach...

In three days I had a lot of fun, I learned sth new about surfing and the waves, Francisco was so kind to borrow me a bike, so I cycled by the coast for 20 km - amazing views!

We had a great time at conde Surf Camp. The accommodation was super nice and we felt very comfortable there. Everything we needed was available. At times we shared the accommodation with pilgrims from Camino del Norte, which we always enjoyed. Concerning surf lessons, we definitely made progress during the 5 days. It was good that he planned the lessons very flexibly to adapt to the sea and the weather conditions in order to catch the best waves. It was only the two of us, so we didn't get lost in a large group. All in all we had a good time and he tries very hard and will definitely gain experience and improve his teaching skills over time.

Overall very pleasant and peaceful stay with lot´s of fun and good vibes! The acommodation was very cozy and gave the immediate family atmosphere feeling, the place had everything needed, including some groceries and toiletries. The host - Francisco was very chilled, funny and flexible guy always caring about our well-being, safety and comfort and in case of any issue he was super fast with fixing/resolving the problem. Furthemore very reliable, fast responding and offering us a ride few times! He tried his best to surf with us as much as possible even if the weather conditions were not always good, he was a good guide in the water with impressive amout of knowledge. The Conde Camp has perfect location next to the beautiful beach with magnificent sunsets, few minutes by walk we found local bakeries, caffes, surf shop and nice restaurants. We had amazing time for very fair price and surely would have enjoy next time, obrigada!:)

I had a super nice surf holiday, Francisco the surf guide and hotel owner is a lovely dude who really cares about your needs. We had intense surf sessions, where I could develop my skills a lot.

Besides the camp is also a super nice place to stay with a well equipped kitchen + BBQ next to the beach (5min walking).

I will go back there soon ....
