Included excursions
Two unbelievable excursions are handcrafted by your Cafecito Surf Team!
1. Cabuya Like a Local and Montezuma Waterfall Tour
Spend the day exploring the magic of the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula. Start with either a visit to a local chocolate plantation or a guided walk out to the mystical Cabuya Island at low tide. Stop for a fresh, homemade lunch at the beloved Cabuya Bakery before sampling craft beers at the laid-back Cabuya Brewery. From there, we head into the jungle for a hike to the famous Montezuma Waterfalls, where you can swim in the natural pools and soak up the tropical beauty. The adventure wraps up with an exhilarating ATV ride back through the mountains at sunset—an unforgettable end to the day.
2. Magic Boat Day
Set off on a private boat for a day that feels like pure magic. Cruise across turquoise waters, spotting dolphins, turtles, and maybe even whales along the way. We’ll anchor at Tortuga Island, where you can dive into the calm, crystal-clear waters, play a game of beach volleyball, sip on coco locos, or dance along the sand to the rhythms drifting from the local beach huts. From there, we journey through a hidden mangrove forest on a guided tour, discovering the secrets of this unique ecosystem. As the sun dips low, we arrive at the breathtaking Playa Los Vivos glamping resort for a beachside dinner at their 5-star restaurant—a meal as unforgettable as the setting itself. The evening ends with a glowing finale: a ride back across the water under the stars, with bioluminescence lighting up the sea around us. This tour is essentially the best of two typically offered tours, and includes stops not commercially offered as we have designed it ourselves with our partner captain.
Instructors
Lenin Sanchez Cruz
Born and raised in Santa Teresa, Lenin grew up surfing the waves in his backyard. Today, he’s turned his family home into Cafecito Surf, where he shares his passion, local knowledge, and pura vida spirit with every guest.
Location
In The Heart Of Santa Teresa
The Cafecito Surfhouse is located conveniently in the center of town, where you can easily walk on the road or beach to both the south and north sides of the beach Playa Carmen or La Lora. 150 meters off the main road on a quiet street, it is perfectly tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the day but just a few minutes' walk from cafes, shops, beach bars and restaurants. Gated property with code entry, the house is your perfect landing spot for exploring the town.
Food
Every meal is prepared with love by Lenin’s mother, Melva, who has been cooking in local restaurants and surf camps for over 25 years. Guests enjoy daily breakfast plus lunch or dinner, featuring fresh, healthy dishes rooted in Costa Rican tradition. Think perfectly ripe avocados, handmade corn tortillas, rich protein-filled stir-fries with fresh vegetables, beans and rice, and daily fresh-pressed juices.
