Bamboo Room Beach House and Surf Camp is a self-catering international guest house in Ponta do Ouro, Mozambique, located at The Point, Ponta Complex. It sleeps eight guests and has two sea-view en-suite queen rooms with air-conditioners, and one twin or triple room with 3 single beds, en-suite bathroom, and an air-conditioner.

Jona Venter
Jona is an ex-professional SA surfer who set up a surf clinic for local kids and will be your surf coach for this surf camp.
Location
Bamboo Room is in a very central location to the town, shops, market, and the main beach. It has a stunning view from both the upstairs and downstairs decks of the house. The Beach Bar restaurant and bar is almost directly in front of the beach house. The beach house has an epic view from the deck of the waves and bay daily; beautiful sunrise mornings from the deck or on the beach only 50 meters away.
Ponta do Ouro is fun and a very friendly beach town, especially the locals, with the warm water of Mozambique, you can stay in the water all day, depending on the season. There is a lot to see and do in both Ponta do Ouro and Ponta Malongane, the next bay. You can wake up early for a dawn-y surf, depending on conditions, or sleep in a bit and go for a late morning surf, also depending on conditions, and in the afternoon, you can hit the waves again, either on the point or the beach break.

Daily basic hot and cold breakfast like cereal, muesli, boiled, fried, or scrambled eggs, yogurt, your choice fruit, coffee, tea, and fruit juice are included, as well as daily complimentary fruits, coffee, tea, fruit juice, and pau (bread).

Ponta do Ouro's accommodation is best accessed through the Kosi Bay border. The border is approximately 630 kilometers from Jo’burg and 460 kilometers from Durban and is open seven days a week (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.). The new tarred road running down from Maputo to Kosi Bay border and linking with Ponta do Ouro is complete.
The Maputo-Catembe suspension bridge is also open now, making the drive down from Maputo much quicker than before (approximately two hours). If you are entering at Ressano Garcia border post, you can also travel to Ponta do Ouro on tar via Boane and Bela Vista. Once you reach the beginning of Ponta do Ouro town where the informal market and Fernando's are on your left, the new tar road ends.
From that point on, the roads are still mainly as they were - potholes and thick sand, for which a 4x4 would be required. A 2x4 SUV with good ground clearance can also access quite a large area of town, please send Bamboo Room an inquiry for details.
They are building a park and ride facility at the end of the tar road but it is not complete yet. Should you not have a suitable car, border transfers can be arranged at 200 ZAR per person, return. Your vehicle can be left at one of the secure border parking lots at a charge of 50 ZAR per day. The parking lots are privately run and secure.
Please allow ample traveling time to get to the Kosi Bay border before it closes as road conditions aren't always good and can slow journey time down considerably. There are often potholes, lots of trucks, and also cattle in the road. Recommended travel time from Jo'burg to the Border is 7 to 8 hours, however, with the occasional road works, the journey can easily take longer.
Cancellation Policy
- A reservation requires a deposit of 60% of the total price.
- The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
- The rest of the payment should be paid 5 days before arrival.
