Instructors
Mohamed
Hucine and Bohcine’s nephew, Mohamed, is an avid surfer, on hand to help out with pushes and encouragement in the waves, and his can-do attitude means he is a well-received extra pair of hands around the guesthouse.
Mehdi El Qadi
Medhi's lifelong passion for surfing has shaped who he is and it has guided his career path. Over the years, he has worked in various surf camps and hotels, which has provided him with extensive experience in both coaching and communication. His linguistic abilities in French, Arabic, and Tamazight, complemented by a Master's degree in English, allowed him to connect with a diverse range of students from all over the world. As a dedicated surf instructor at Azul Guest House, Medhi can guarantee a tailored, safe, and enjoyable surf session for all skill levels.
Location
Morocco’s south coast offers almost year-round board short weather and approximately 300 days of sunshine. During the summer (April to October), the waves are perfect for beginners and intermediates, with long sunny days and fun, uncrowded, and warm water surfing. From October to May, the big waves which Morocco is famous for, come in from the Atlantic Coast.
Even during this season, there are plenty of locations offering smaller waves for beginners and less experienced surfers.
Azul Guesthouse is next door to Babakoul, a Moroccan-inspired cafe / restaurant, which is open all day and serves mint teas, coffees, pizzas, lassis, and waffles. There’s also a new vegetarian / vegan café, Let’s Be, within a few minutes' walk, offering colorful and vibrant dishes. And, many others are in Tamraght, Aourir, and Taghazout, the neighboring villages.
Surf spots
Anchor Point
- Surf level: Experienced
Long NW swells that reach from three feet to 15ft have earned Anchor Point the title of a world-class surf break. It was first surfed in the 1960s, and since then, it has become one of Morocco’s favorite surf spots. It’s easiest to come in at one of the coves and walk back to jump off at the end between sets.
It works on all but high tides, unless it’s huge, which is when it may be possible to ride back to Taghazout. It’s worth visiting, even if just to observe the way the wave breaks.
Banana Point
- Surf level: All levels
This is a beach tucked between the usually dry Tamraght River mouth and rocks, offering some northerly wind protection. A long easy right can break from the point, but otherwise, it’s a beginner's beach break, which explains the surf schools in the village.
Other surf spots:
- Boilers
- Killer Point
- Mysteries
- Dracula Point
Nearby places
- Imourane Beach - 5 minutes' walk
- Aourir and Taghazout - 5 minutes by taxi or local bus
Food

In the dishes, you will find tastes, fragrances, and flavors of traditional Moroccan food made with love and passion. They are able to offer alternative dishes for vegetarians and prepare a special menu for any guests with dietary requirements.
They’re well-known for the generous Moroccan-style family feasts served on their beautiful colorful roof terrace, complete with 360-degree views over Tamraght and Taghazout Bay. Go and join Azul Guesthouse for a lively and delicious communal dinner and delicious home-cooked Moroccan cuisine.
Azul Guesthouse can cater for different dietary requirements; please let them know in advance so that they can shop and plan meals accordingly. They can be adapted to suit dietary requirements (vegetarian, etc.). For vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, and other special diets, there's a supplement of 5 EUR per day.
Some of the locals do drink the tap water in Morocco. Azul Guesthouse would recommend drinking bottled water. This is included in the packages. The surf camp also offers a fridge with sodas for 1 EUR.
You can bring your own alcohol to the guesthouse. Alcohol can be purchased at the airport on arrival, or in Agadir. Some places to buy alcohol in Agadir are at Metro, Uniprix, and Marjane. Note that shops selling alcohol close at 20:00.
