Awera Resort is a small exclusive resort; they have 11 properties with a total of 16 villas and they canter for a maximum of 51 guests.
Regarding accommodation, they have a variety of properties to suit couples, groups or families; all of them with a private infinity pool. The villas are fully equipped (private bathroom, air conditioning, clean towels and sheets, mosquito nets, hot water, outdoor shower, surfboard rack, clothes drying rack, chill out terrace and Wi-Fi) and artfully located to ensure a peaceful atmosphere for everyone.

The Mentawai Islands are renowned worldwide as a surfer’s paradise, and the reason for that is simple: the incredible abundance and variety of waves, unmatched anywhere else on Earth. There are left-handers and right-handers, rippable walls and perfect barrels, easy waves for beginners, challenging waves for experts, and everything in between.
This is without doubt one of the world’s foremost surfing destinations, with a range of waves that is practically infinite. Awera Resort offer surf lessons for complete beginners as well as advanced surfers and pros. Our expert instructors use a range of teaching methods to help you improve your surfing, from offering support and guidance in the water when you’re getting started, to filming your session and analyzing the footage with you in the evening over a drink.
Boats
Awera Resort has a fleet of three boats, two are wooden and one is metal. The use of the boats carries no additional cost. You can use this service as often as you want and can travel to a different spot every day. They can take you to over 10 surf spots around the Mentawai Islands, allowing you to access different surfing conditions in terms of level and style.
Surf lessons
The focus of surf lessons is to learn to handle your board better. The expert instructors will help you to improve using different techniques, support and guide you on your first outings, and take a video during your class, so you can watch and analyze it later, while you enjoy a soft drink, kick back, and relax.
Notes:
The Ferry departs at 7:00 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. You are advised to arrive in Padang one day before the ferry departs. The crossing takes about three hours. Your 11-day package starts on the day you arrive at the resort. The Padang overnight stay is not included in this package but should you want to include that, please advise Awera Resort so they can make the needed arrangement.
Surfer Rate
Designed for intermediate/advanced surfers. This includes all boat trips to the surf and the mandatory Mentawais surf tax. We usually go out 2 or 3 times per day and we always try to find the best spots regarding the forecast and surfing level of the groups. I advise booking the surfer in advance as we have a limited amount of surfers within the resort at one time (16 people).
Yoga
Awera Resort offers two daily yoga classes. Awera Resort does classes for all kind of levels and needs. The charm of the yoga room will make it an unforgettable experience.

The stand-up paddle is an activity for the whole family and if we do it in one of the most special environments of the Mentawai Islands, the experience is impressive.

The easiest way to enjoy the crystal-clear waters of the Mentawai Islands and explore the reefs, snorkeling requires nothing but fins, a mask, and a snorkel.
Surf lessons
Awera Resort also offers surf lessons for complete beginners as well as advanced surfers and pros. Minangkabau International Airport
154 km away from your destination
Arrival by airplane
Please book your flight to arrive at Minangkabau International Airport (PDG). Once there, Awera Resort's staff will collect you and take you to a hotel in the city where you will spend the night. The day after you arrive at the airport, at 6:00 a.m., you will be taken from the hotel to Padang port.
Arrival by ferry / boat
Please book a ferry to arrive at Padang port, where you will catch the fast ferry to the Mentawai Islands. The crossing takes about three hours. The Ferry departs at 7:00 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. You are advised to arrive in Padang one day before the ferry departs.
If you arrive with enough time to take the fast ferry on the same day, Awera Resort also offers a transfer service to take you from the airport to Padang port. Once in Tua Pejat, you will be collected by Awera Resort's staff and taken to the resort on a fast boat. The journey takes around 10 minutes.
Transfer pack
In order to ease your arrival to and from the resort we will take care of everything starting with picking you up at Padang, the closest airport to the resort. The price is 325 USD per person + 60 USD per surfboard bag for a return journey and the service includes:
- Pick up from Padang airport, return journey
- Taxi driver from Padang airport to the hotel in the city, return journey
- Two nights hotel in the city. 1 night each way
- Taxi from the hotel to the harbour, return journey
- Ferry tickets including luggage & surfboards (Padang-Tua Pejat) return journey *
- Speed Boat from Tua Pejat to Awera Resort, return journey.
The ferry is the only way to access our resorts and it only works once a day (each way) 7am Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and 10am Sundays. These are our only check-in and check-out dates. With the early start this is why we include the hotel on the transfer service. The return ferry from Tua Pejat departs at 15:00 arriving in Padang at 18:30. This is a complete service and we can't make small modifications due to security reasons.
Cancellation Policy
- A reservation requires a deposit of 50% of the total price.
- The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
- The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
