Accommodation

The package default room is a dorm room. You can also book other rooms such as double rooms, bungalows, or apartments with a surcharge. The camp in the Algarve offers a pool, a barbeque area, and a big garden with a trampoline and other sports facilities for all the guests. At the popular “Baraka” bar, you and your friends enjoy a cold beer or various cocktails while using the Wi-Fi and surfing on the internet for a change, watching TV, or winning against your friends at the billiard table.

Program

You will take part in two days of kite group lessons and three days of surf lessons. A flat water spot and sunny and warm days in Lagos make it the perfect place to learn to kitesurf. With consistent north winds during summer, you can kite almost every day. Work on your water start position on the wake park or catch your first waves surfing. Algarve Watersport got you covered in case of non-windy days. Join daily yoga lessons to stretch sore muscles and find your zen for better progression in kitesurfing. Yoga lessons will happen twice every day (except Sundays).

Kitesurf

The “Nortada” wind is a thermal wind that builds up during the day and reaches its peak in the afternoon. The lagoon is tide dependent offering the easiest conditions for learning at mid tide. Of course, they aim to teach you during these perfect conditions. The kitesurf lessons normally start between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. depending on the best conditions. You will be effectively three hours in the water but the whole trip takes around five hours, with driving down to the lagoon (10-minute drive), setting up the kites, theory, etc.

There is no break in between the course. The kiteboarding instructors are licensed by IKO (International Kiteboarding Organisation). You can purchase a certification after the course to document your kitesurf level and be able to rent kiteboarding equipment worldwide. They are teaching in IKO standards in groups with a maximum of four people per instructor. At the maximum capacity of the groups, two beginners will share a kite.

They are always offering different level kitesurf lessons. The guests will be divided into groups according to kiteboarding level. Please let Algarve Watersport know your level or your last learning objective when you book. Please assess yourself honestly since they only then can promise fast learning results.

Surf

The surf conditions are consistent all year with Atlantic swells. There are lots of different beaches and reef breaks and a huge swell window on the south and west coasts. There are a great number of beaches and wind-protected bays. The warm climate and the consistent Atlantic swells make it a perfect all-year surfing destination. The summer is great for beginners and intermediate surfers because the waves are not as powerful.

The winter is the best time for seasoned surfers since the ocean delivers strong winter swells which result in wave faces regularly higher than six or eight feet. No surfable waves on the Algarve are a very rare sight. But if wave or weather conditions do not allow you to go surfing, Algarve Watersport will seek to offer you the best alternative of the repertoire, according to the "always action guarantee". You can go kiting, windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding, wakeboarding, or mountain biking.

Because of the always-changing wave and tide conditions, they only know the exact starting time of the surf lessons, the evening before the course. They normally leave the camp between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. and are usually back around 3:00 and 4:00 p.m. You will have a one-and-a-half-hour lesson in the morning and a one-and-a-half lesson in the afternoon divided by a break. The length of the break depends on the conditions and on how many other surfers use the spot.

The Portuguese beaches are regulated so that the beaches are not overcrowded with too many schools, therefore there is only a specific amount of pupils allowed in the water at the same time. Algarve Watersport is teaching group lessons with ISA (International Surf Association) standards of a maximum of eight people per instructor. Due to the high demand, the capacity does not allow them to give private lessons during the high season.

If you are looking for sportive activities even on non-windy or too-wavily days, you can bring your body to a new fitness level with the help of a healing and relaxed yoga or Pilates session. During the mountain bike tours, they will make you sweat as well and show you the fascinating surroundings of the Algarve at the same time.

Massage

Your body feels sore after the loads of water sports activities or maybe you just want to unwind after a busy and exciting day at the Algarve. Rita’s magic hands will take care of everything. All you need to do is close your eyes and relax. There is a variety of treatments available, from which she will find the most suitable relief for you. From specific segments such as neck, back, and shoulders to a full body massage. They guarantee that you will find your inner calm and will feel refreshed, energized, and like a new person after her treatment.

Mountain biking

The Algarve is especially famous for its mild climate and beautiful landscape and is yet regarded as an insider's tip among mountain bikers. During the mountain bike trips, you will discover great trails on the cliffs of the wild south coast overlooking the ocean or the rural backcountry of the Algarve. The camp represents the starting point for the trips from Lagos to Luz or Burgau. For longer distances, you will head to the west coast where you can explore hidden and secret beaches and bays. In the evening, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking sunset.

Of course, they also offer mountain bike trips through the highlands of the Monchique Mountains for more daring mountain bikers. From the peak of the Foie, you will have an incredible view over Portimao, the Ria do Alvor (the kite lagoon), and Lagos. On clear days, you can even discover the west coast. The experienced cyclists and the new Cube LTD Race Mountain bikes equipped with a Fox RLC bike fork and 29er tires will take you on an unforgettable mountain bike trip in the Algarve. The cost of this activity is 35 EUR for two hours.
