They are a place that is suitable for intermediate to advanced surfers. They can still offer a good experience for more beginner surfers, but they must be able to surf by themselves, do duck diving or turtle, and go to the side of the wave.
The low season from November to March is better for low-level performance surfers, with the addition of being less crowded.

Locatie
The Mentawai Islands are a chain of more than seventy islands and islets on the Indian Ocean, located approximately 150 kilometers from the west coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. The strait that separates them from Sumatra is the Mentawai Strait.
Siberut (4,030 square kilometers) is the largest island, while the other major islands are Sipura, North Pagai (Pagai Utara), and South Pagai (Pagai Selatan). The indigenous inhabitants of the islands are known as the people of the Mentawais.

The nearest peak is to the left of Hideaways, which is less than five minutes from the resort, and further away is the wave of Burgerworld, which mostly works in the days of small waves.

Hidden Bay Resort Mentawais' swell window is huge - from 240 SW through to 165 SE - and the area consistently gets hit by a lot of swell from the Indian Ocean. The waves are the closest Mentawai waves to mainland Sumatra, which means less travel time for you to access the perfect waves.

Burgerworld
This is a right-hander, mushier and good for turns, ideal for days with little or no waves, as it’s a kind of swell magnet.
Beng beng
This is a fun left-hander that provides a good wall for turns and an occasional little barrel at the take-off on lower tides. It is a good option when the swell is small and west.
E-bay
E-bay is a hollow fast left with a good barrel section. It is very good when there is a good west swell around.
Pitstops
This is the right which is located next to E-bay. It’s a small to medium wave, excellent for turns and very photogenic, breaking over a slab sometimes and producing a small barrel on the takeoff, followed by good sections for powerful turns or airs, ending literally on the sand.
Nipussi
Nipussi is a right-hander, a little further down the line from Bankvaults, a mushier wave good for turns that occasionally produces short barrels on the take-off close to the rocks at low tide. It is one of the best options when the swell is very small, as it works as a wave magnet.
Bankvaults
Bankvaults is a heavy and hollow deep water right-hander with two distinct sections. One is closer to the channel and provides good heavy barrels, while another, deeper section also provides very good waves under ideal conditions and can connect to the channel on epic days. You will need to watch out for bigger sets that come out of nowhere.
Hideaways
Hideaways is a heavy and hollow left that breaks over a very shallow irregular reef of colorful corals. The wave has a late drop ‘ledge’ style and deep barrels on the deeper section close to the main peak, making for an easier takeoff with a section good for turns breaking wider.
No Kandui
No Kandui or simply Kandui is a super fast hollow left throwing deep heavy barrels on every section. When the factors are aligned and the size and direction of the swell combine with the right, the wave turns into a tubular high-speed express that runs for hundreds of yards, providing many deep tubes behind the peak from one section to another.
It’s no wonder that Kandui is considered as one of the best waves in the world! It needs a southwest swell and southeast winds to be perfect.
A-frames
As the name suggests, it’s a peak that opens both left and right, forming an “A’ frame. It’s a fat wave, good for turns that end in the channel. The left is better, hollower, and can throw some good barrels on the inside at lower tides, ending in the channel.
Rifles
Rifles is one of the best waves on the Mentawai Islands. It is long, perfect, and with many barrel sections.

Arrival by direct fast boat
This is so much more comfortable and faster than the public fast boat. Hidden Bay Resort Mentawais' transfer service includes all transportation from the airport to the hotel and to the resort, and the way back. With this option, you will take a private fast boat that goes directly to the Playground region (15 minutes from the resort), saving much time on your way in and out. It will only work on Hidden Bay Resort Mentawais' official direct fast dates.
Due to the design that allows it to navigate safely in extreme winds and stormy conditions, this long boat is safer and more stable than the big speedboats, as it can navigate in all weather conditions and will avoid the long time when travel with the public fast boat.
This way, you will have a much greater chance of a guaranteed departure on the scheduled dates, avoiding delays and inconveniences due to bad weather.
Schedule
The departures from Padang to the resort are always early in the morning, at around 07:30 on the first day marked on the schedule, allowing Hidden Bay Resort Mentawais' guests to arrive at the resort at around 11:30, have a healthy lunch and energetic meal, and go for their first surf session on the islands.
The return from the resort to Padang is organized at around 12:30 on the last day marked on the schedule, allowing one last surf session early in the morning before getting back to mainland Sumatra on Tuesdays or Saturdays. The arrival in Padang occurs at around 16:00.
