This surf camp is situated in Medewi on Bali’s west coast, known for Bali’s longest wave. Nestled within lush rice fields and tropical garden, this camp consists of four basic Balinese Bungalows and three deluxe villas. The camp design is aimed at providing a relaxed, homey atmosphere for surfers. You won’t find dorm rooms or shared bathrooms here as all rooms have their own private bathroom.
All buildings come with board racks and outdoor showers to rinse off salt water.
Enjoy fine Indonesian cuisine and western dishes in the sea view restaurant BLU FIN and some grilled Burgers, Tacos and a cold beer at our Beach Bar.
Relax by the pool within the tropical garden or reset mind and body with a traditional Balinese massage in the Java Joglo.
Basic Bungalows
Stay in traditional Bali Bungalows surf accommodation directly at the surf beach. Natural and traditional materials are used to build these Bungalows, such as coconut and teak timber, as well as bamboo and elephant grass. These sustainable building materials have been used in Asia for thousands of years and are ideal for the local climate.
Each Bungalow consists of cozy double or twin rooms, western standard, one double bed or two single beds, mosquito net, ensuite bathroom with toilet and shower, balcony or porch, and fan to cool the air.
Surf Villa Mangga and Hightide
Do you want deluxe accommodation with the waves right at your doorstep? These Bali surf villas are designed to provide you with comfort and a laid-back atmosphere, combining upmarket interior and tropical flair. Let the sound of the ocean lull you into sleep and check the swell from your breakfast table.
It consists of spacious double or twin rooms with AC, western standard, double bed or two single beds, mosquito net, semi-open bathroom with toilet and hot water shower, balcony or porch to the garden.
All villas come with own board rag for safe storage of your board.
Programme
On a daily basis, your experienced surf guides will bring you to empty surf spots, all within a 10-minute drive. The sessions will twice daily from Monday to Friday and 1x daily from Saturday to Sunday.
The local surf instructors speak English and they literally grew up in Medewi’s waves.
They know the ocean like the back of their hands and will always pick the best spot, according to conditions and your skills. Groups are kept small to ensure there will always be a surf guide with you in the water to look after you.

You will have guided surf sessions around Medewi in a small group and you will surf various spots like point breaks, beach breaks, left and right-hander, semi reefs, etc.
The experienced local surf guides will bring you to the best surf spots such as Medewi point break, Diva beach break, Irons and Truck Stop A-frame, Balian river mouth. and some secrets spots to ensure you spend the maximum of your time surfing and improving your skills in these tropical world-class surf spot called Bali..
Lieu
The Brown Sugar Surf School is located in the fishing village of Medewi on Bali’s west coast, where you won’t see crowded waves like in Kuta with its mass tourism and beach hawkers. At Brown Sugar you will get exactly what you came to Bali for: a maximum time in the tropical waves.
There are lots of waves for all kind of level: left and right-handers, beach, point and reef breaks and waves for beginners, intermediates, and advanced surfers. You will surf well-known spots like Medewi Point (Bali’s longest left), Diva, Truckstop, and Balian as well as numerous secret spots, which our local surf guides will show you.

Restaurant BLU FIN offers the best from both cultures: Western and local Asian. The restaurant is open from dawn ’til dusk and has a wide range of warm dishes. The beach bar is open 24 hours a day for cold drinks, juices, smoothies, beer, etc.

Snorkeling trip to Menjangan Island
Unspoiled Menjangan Island is located a mere 90-minute drive from Medewi, located within Taman Bali Barat National Park. Menjangan is considered one of the best diving and snorkeling areas of Indonesia. Crystal clear water, undamaged coral reefs and a colorful, abundant underwater world will make this day trip a one-of-a-kind experience. The Brown Sugar Surf School organize transport, snorkeling equipment, transfer to the island, and an experienced guide.
