Programma

San Sebastian Surf Camp, a little slice of paradise located in the natural reserve Pagoeta, is a combination of breathtaking landscapes (mountains and beaches), intriguing Basque culture, award-winning food, insane waves, and beautiful weather. What’s better than getting the best of both worlds, experiencing the amazing landscapes of the Basque country and still heading to the beach every day?

Your meals are prepared, your beers chilled, your beds made for your arrival and your party nights pre-organized. What a treat! The friends you’ll make at the San Sebastian Surf Camp are some of the best folk around, open-minded, international travelers gathering from all over the world, so there’ll be languages to learn and stories to hear over a beer or seventeen.

The surf house doors are open to all levels of surfers. Never touched a surfboard in your life? The surf instructors will have you on your feet and high riving your mates in no time. On the other hand, if you are already a shredder, the instructors will be able to advise you on the best breaks and make sure you get shacked before your afternoon siesta. Surf lessons are taken at local, beginner friendly beach, Zarautz, with transport to and from the surf house on San Sebastian Surf Camp’s own bus.

San Sebastian Surf Camp will explain the dynamics of the ocean and analyze the current conditions you will be surfing in. They will explain surf safety and the correct techniques used in entering the ocean, paddling, catching waves, and standing up. They will assist you in getting your first waves and give feedback on your surfing techniques.

The San Sebastian Surf Camp instructors are all fully certified and carry their first aid and ocean safety award. Supervision from a certified surf instructor is only during the surf lessons included in the package. Please always reach out to your surf instructors to find out if the conditions are fitting to your level when you are surfing by yourself.

This is a guide itinerary, but not like a school camp itinerary - quite the contrary. This will give you an idea of what a day might look like for you at San Sebastian Surf Camp. There’s always something for you to do, but it's your holiday so feel free to lay on the beach, have a beer or go on an adventure with your new campmates instead. Plans are always subject to change. They find the best time to surf during the day, depending on swell and tide, you can be surfing anytime. If the swell is not right, they can postpone it for another time or find a new activity participate in.

Each person will receive one surf introduction surf lesson, and from thereon surf guiding with certified surf instructors will be provided.

Typical day in the Basque paradise

Morning

Wake up to a homely, cooked breakfast down in the chillout area and exchange stories from last night’s antics. Fuel up, read the surf report and get excited to head out surfing. Jump on the surf bus and enjoy the ride down through the national park to the beach, grab your board and either scout out the best banks on the beach or head into your lesson with one of the surf instructors.

Afternoon

When you're all surfed out, you’ll either have lunch in the sunshine at the beach together or head back up to the house for a hot lunch and a cold sangria. If you’re feeling bendy, join a yoga class on the yoga deck. You could head out hiking, go into town and explore, join in on a Spanish class, head back down to the beach for another surf (non-supervised), or just relax!

In the afternoon, you will most likely find yourself hanging out at the house watching the sun go down and sharing stories or becoming lord of the ping pong table.

Evenings

If you’re the sensible type, you can get in a good night’s sleep and be up bright and early for sunrise yoga and breathtaking views over the valley. If some more drinks, music and exploring sound more like you, then either join them on a pintxos tour in Zarautz or San Sebastian, a trip to a traditional Basque cider house or maybe even one of the many festivals that may be on during your stay.

Yoga

One daily 1-hour yoga class is included in the price and is optional for guests. The instructors teach Hatha, Vinyasa, and Ashtanga yoga. The yoga sessions can be anytime during the day depending on the surf conditions and tide. You will either perform yoga in the morning before the surf or after the surf lesson in the afternoon.

Note: Please keep in mind times and schedules can vary due to waves and conditions of the water or other activities. This is just a general plan how a day in the surf house could look like.
