Amazing staff! They were super friendly, humoristic and took very good care of us. Accommodation was lovely, peaceful, clean and felt like home. Food really exceed my expectations! Breakfast and dinner were always 10/10. Lunch was also good, usually sandwiches which were easy to eat at the beach. Rafa and Egor were professional instructors with positive vibes who explained things very well and clearly. Huge thank you for the amazing staff!

The people

Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen und die ganze Woche zum vollsten Wohlbefinden versorgt. Nach dem leckeren Frühstück ging es täglich mit Lunchpaket an den Strand, wo wir zwei tolle 1,5-stündige Surfkurse hatten. Der Strand war sehr schön und sowohl für Einsteiger als auch Fortgeschrittene gut zum surfen geeignet. Die Gruppen wurden entsprechend ihrer Surffähigkeiten eingeteilt und von netten engagierten Surflehrern angeleitet. Ab spätem Nachmittag konnte man sich im Surfcamp vergnügen, z.B. im Pool, beim Billiard oder Tischtennis. Die Gemeinschaft war wirklich super schön! Die Yogastunde am Morgen oder Abend war auch wirklich super schön, auf einem sehr schönen Yoga-Deck und wohltuend bei einer sehr netten Yogalehrerin - eine perfekte Ergänzung zum Surfen. Am Freitag gab es einen Barbecue mit Livemusik das definitiv ein Highlight ist. Tonya ist wirklich super herzlich und hilfsbereit, was den Urlaub perfekt abrundet.

The place itself is superbly beautiful. Waking up and doing yoga on the deck puts a smile on your face first thing in the morning. Especially knowing that there's a delicious buffet waiting for you once you've made the most of the yoga class and the view. And the surf lessons are top quality. Egor helps you improve with his simplicity and humour. Throughout your stay, the food is taken care of (no worries) and is very good! It's a surfcamp that could make you feel at home!

Rafa is missing from the instructor list, did the week with him and he was really great at explaining clearly and pointing out what we were doing wrong (and right). Great surf lessons !

People are very nice at the camp too, and the place itself is incredibly beautiful.

Yoga lessons were really nice too and the teacher (Lauren) was lovely.

The location was amazing, nestled in the mountains the view from the villa and the yoga platform is breath-taking. All the staff are super friendly and welcoming, remembering your name though they must meet thousands of people each year, it makes you feel valued. Food was great, plentiful and tasty breakfast, lunches and dinner. Yoga instruction was great with Lauren, she adapted to the group's requests and provided a relaxing and compassionate yoga practice. The surfing instructors were fantastic and adapted where we went to the surfing conditions. I was a total beginner and they explained everything really clearly and helped with personalised tips when we were not quite getting it! There were lots of other solo-travelling guests too which made the general atmosphere really friendly and sociable, which was exactly what I wanted. Amazing experience which totally exceeded my expectations - I definitely want to come again.

This camp is great, they thought absolutely everything through and you can really feel it! The location, the instructors, the food was made with love and care, the yoga on the beautiful deck. I loved my whole experience. So much love for everyone that i shared my week with and the people at Russo for making it so memorable and special.

I had an amazing stay here, the surf lessons were awesome - quite challemging but that's what I wanted!

The Russo Surfcamp is very particular and unique for its location and the team, including the surfcoachs and all people working at the surfhouse. I've had a wonderful experience despite bad weather and waves conditions durong the week. The surfcoachs were nice and it was good to have some theory and training on the beach before practicing. Some interesting sightseeing were proposed during the two days when surfing was not possible.

The infrastructure is good and the food tasty.

Highly recommend to rent a car (very not expensive in Portugal) to be able to travel around during free days as the camp is far away from the towns and beaches.

The food was excellent, staff was very helpful and friendly. Cocktails at the bar are tasty, fair prices. Lot of food provided, we never were hungry.

The instructors were excellent. Very knowledgeable, respectful, funny and caring. One of biggest compliments stays here.

The accommodation is kept clean by staff.

Towels are provided. Bed linen are clean.

The camp ground is like on the pictures, feels cosy.

The daily and weekly schedule is clear and well structured. You don’t have to worry too much about planning ahead. I loved it.

The location of the surfcamp is lovely, the yoga classes were perfectly combined with the surf classes and the yoga place was breathtaking… all the staff is so nice, the food was great and overall such a nice experience!

Everything honestly

Everything was great, all of the staff is very nice and they really make an effort that everything is okay and that you are feeling well and that you are having a wonderful time. The food is super delicious as well and you are never hungry. Everything is arranged so you dont need to worry about anything. One must know that this surfcamp is in the middle of national park so there is nothing (no shops, no kiosks ...) around the camp, just the nature, but as I said, you dont need anything else as everything is organised for you. I had a great time :)

I loved the property- its was so remote and had so much to do on and off site. The morning yoga was restorative and prepared you for a great day of surfing. The coaches were knowledgeable and fun and really pushed you to learn the most while respecting your personal limits. They had a skate ramp, horseback riding, trampoline, mountain bikes, pool, ping pong, great drinks and food and overall the community vibe they curate will have you feeling like a family. Tonya is an absolutely wonderful person. She is kind and welcoming and loves hosting people. Everything was cleaned daily and the meals were all great. The experience was comforting yet cultural. I feel so rejuvenated. Went as a solo traveler and made lifelong friends. I would love to come back next year with friends from my home in Florida.

What an amazing holiday! I had such a wonderful time at Russo Surf Camp, met some lovely and fun people from all over the world🥰 The food was amazing, especially the breakfast and the fish dishes for dinner! The surf teachers are doing an amazing job at teaching beginners! I was a complete beginner and managed to stand up on the board on the second day. They are all very nice and relaxed but still make sure that everyone is safe. I also loved the morning yoga sessions with Lauren on the yoga deck, which offers stunning mountain views. This camp is such great value for money! Unfortunately, I didn’t get to say goodbye to the surf instructors because they went for a very early surf session on my last morning, but I will definitely come back next year, or maybe sooner😄 Special shout-out to Filipo, Tonya and Russo who just make you feel welcome and make sure everyone is happy. Die Atmosphäre bei Tonya und Russo im Camp ist paradiesisch schön und soo familiär. Man lernt tolle Leute kennen und hat eine schöne Zeit!

Die Surflehrer (bei uns Luis bzw. "Luiiiisch" ;), Rapha, Aroon, Igor, und Leo) nehmen ihren Job super ernst und haben wirklich Spaß an ihrem Beruf. Luis hat darin klar und deutlich seine Berufung gefunden würde ich sagen. ;) Trotz "portugis Time" (generell kommt jeder in Portugal immer zu spät) zeigen sich alle dort absolut pflichtbewusst und total strukturiert und sehr sehr bemüht einem zu helfen bzw. Uns das surfen mit viel Spaß beizubringen. Generell kann man auch wunderschön herrlich rumblödeln mit unseren Surflehrern und auch mit den anderen Gästen. Gelernt haben wir auf jeden Fall viel und das surfen hat bei jedem gut funktioniert! Das liegt einfach auch wirklich am Ehrgeiz und der Motivitation, die Luis und Co an den Tag legen. Danke euch dafür! ❤️

Ich werde auf jeden Fall wiederkommen! Das Essen war gesund und die Menge hat gepasst! Ich war nie hungrig und war auch echt zufrieden mit der Zusammensetzung aus ernährungstechnischer Sicht. Das Abendessen bestand aus einem 3-Gänge-Menü (Suppe, Hauptgericht, Dessert), Frühstück war ein wirklich wirklich schön organisiertes Buffet. Mittags eine sinnvolle Lunchtüte. Einmal in der Woche wurde absolut aufwändig für uns gegrillt, es spielte eine Liveband. Großartig.

Preis/Leistungsverhältnis war in Ordnung bzgl. Unterkunft/Essen. Hinsichtlich der sehr guten Surflessons war es exzellent.

I wanted to try to learn surfing for a long time and am glad that I decided to come to this surf camp in Aljezur.

Raphael - our instructor was really patient and supportive and taught a lot not only about surfing but about the ocean as well. For us beginners, it was pure pain and joy fighting against those currents and waves and finally standing up.

Tonya and Russo together with all the staff are very welcoming and friendly hosts, who foster a vibrant and inclusive community. They built really cozy accommodations with a peaceful view of the National Park, which offered a relaxing space to recharge after thrilling surf sessions.

Surf instructors were great! Very nice step by step getting you comfortable to take your own waves. Food was amazing and location was beautiful.

I had difficulty getting to the camp at first, but it was my own fault. The staff is super nice and very accommodating. I will definitely come back.

Alles aan het surfcamp was leuk ! Het ligt op een prachtige locatie in de natuur, de accomodatie is heel gezellig en schoon. Alles is super goed georganiseerd en de surflessen zijn heel professioneel en worden op een leuke manier gegeven. ‘S avonds is het heel gezellig met een biljart en ping pong tafel en een gezellige bar ! Je kan in de omgeving ook prachtige wandelingen maken. Ontbijt was heerlijk, lekkere broodjes mee als lunch maar het strand en het avondeten was ook top !! Kortom, we hebben een fantastische tijd gehad. We missen het heerlijke ritme surfritme en de goede zorgen en de leuke mensen ! Heel erg bedankt voor de geweldige tijd.

I lived the location od the Surfcamps and the relaxed and open-minded atmosphere! The teachers were focusing on techniques which was very helpful to progress sustainably. The accomodations was nice and I loved the smaller group at the last week of the season. I'm definitely coming back!

The team is great, I had the best trip ever and could relax so much. I enjoyed the spirit, learned the 1 23 of surfing and already like to book again. The food was fantastic and everything was very well organized. Thank you so much!!!

The kind, friendly, and helpful staff as well as that of the instructors coupled with their vast years of experience and great sense of humour.

Not to mention that the surf camp is very close to the one of the best beaches, if not the best beach in Portugal to learn surfing. It's definitely a resounding 5 Stars from me and my son.

The instructors are amazing, they explain the technics and theory in details and care about each person learning surfing.

The camp has everything needed for you, you do lot need to think about food, you even get the lunch prepared and packed for you to take to the beach

It was a truly amazing experience.

Loved the house, the room (single), the food, the people and all the classes. Surfing here is next level. 3h of surfing and you get instant feedback every wave you take. The yoga classes are perfect to complement surfing and the yoga deck is the perfect space for it.

The views from the house are incredible and I loved how secluded it was.

The food is very tasty and there is always plenty.

The location was just immersed in peaceful green valleys, silent and relaxing. The villa was really beautiful: a big garden to walk and a little swimming pool. The food also surprised me, it takes time to cook with love for a big group of people! A huge breakfast to start, nice sandwiches to bring on the beach and fresh fish for dinner, couldn't ask for any better!

The instructors really taught me a lot and I liked their way of teaching: comprehensive and inclusive.

Surf instructors are really pedagogue and attentive.

Everything is perfect: location, food, surf lessons! This camp is created with passion and run by people who really enjoy their job. I definitely recommend everyone to visit this place, be sure you will want to come back. Definitely you will have some free time after surfing lessons so I recommend you to rent a car as camp is located quiet far from the public transport and explore this wonderful beauty.

Amazing food, home atmosphere and patient instructors, what else do you need? Hannah explained everything in such a detail that i already feel like pro, even though I can only surf white water. Before coming there I couldn't even stand up on the board and after not only can i stand up but i manage to surf for more than 5s.

Very good mix of a relaxed and active vacation sharing waves, good food, rooms and a lot of memories in a very rural and quiet area at the south-Western coast of the Algarve.

I cried when I left. Tonya & Russo are amazing hosts who treat you like family. I traveled alone and made friends from all over the world. It was the perfect mix of night time fun and day time learning. By the end of the week I could stand on the board with confidence, and with a big smile on my face! I will definitely be back soon. I ❤️ my Russo Surf Camp family !!!!!

Surf teachers are very good and lot of time was spent on the beach. Yoga is build around the main focus of surfing. The yoga techer adabts the program daily depending how your body is feeling. Also, beautiful location for the resort!

A great friendly place to stay. The guest house is like a home from home with excellent hospitality and home cooked fresh food. A great bunch of people running the guest house, looking after us and conducting the surfing lessons. Very competent and patient surfing instructors who were funny and kind. I met some great people and had a lot of fun- I can see why people return year after year! Highly recommended to get away from it all- a perfect escape! I will be back! Thank you Russo camp!

The place, the athmosphere around and learning surf with the best instructors

The instructors were passionate and well versed. From the beginning and beyond I felt like a part of their family. Food, location, and course was better than I had imagined. I would without a doubt recommend Russo Surf Camp to anyone who is ready for an adventure and a lifelong memory!

I liked that the camp is located in quite a remote area in nature. 35min walk to the closest beach or 5min drive. Food was good for breakfast and dinners. Instructors were on point and good teachers that focus on everyone well :). Rooms are nice and good for detoxing each day ,

We are a family of 4, Mum, Dad with very little surfing experience and our son,14 and daughter 11 have had some experience. None of us have ever had surf lessons. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived, a part of the Russo surf family no less.

The accomodation and dining arrangements were very good indeed and catered for any diet, we eat all but other meals where available if the main wasn't suitable. Nothing was too much trouble for Madara, Maria and we can't thank them and others in the house enough.

The surf instructors from the youngest, 17/18 to the oldest...Louis ;-) throughly explained everything and demonstrated all so there was no confusion on how we should complete each of the steps. We spent the week with Hannah who had a lot of time for all and helped us reach a fair beginners level, our son and daughter fairing lots better than Mum and Dad..!

We never stopped smiling, having a great time for the whole week.

The whole trip is perfect from pick up to drop off, amazing location, friendly staff and amazing time. Definitely would recommend to any solo traveler and to group travellers.

The guests and staff have been very international and open-minded. There are several activities possible within the camp: game evening, pool, skateboard, guitar.

Russo surf camp is an absolute treat. Situated in a piece of heaven, with stunning views and beautiful sunsets to enjoy every evening. The surf coaches are professional and excellent at helping you learn surfing. Very easy going and comfortable atmosphere at the camp.

The food was lovely, three course dinners every single day and bbq on Saturday. Buffet breakfast and packed lunches, so much good food.

One of the best bits, is the relaxed start of the day, with 10:30 being the departure time to the beach, we never felt the rush.

The surf camp offers a great view on the top of the hills, the staff is very friendly and the spot is good - not too crowded and with good waves.

Food was excellent! I've also enjoyed staying in camp rather than the resort because it is in a beautiful garden.

Apart from the transport that didn't work as expected everything was more than perfect. The place, the teachers, the beach and especially the food. They provide you with everything you need for a great surf holiday. The atmosphere was great and Russo and Tonya are passionately working and helping you.
