Mai Ke kai

In a few days I noticed how I already improved which was so motivating! Mati is super patient and could explain the theory so well, which helped me a lot. Also I was welcomed really warmly by a great staff, the volunteers Dafne and Paula were always there to help and answer questions.

Staying at this hostel was one of the highlights of my trip. From the moment I arrived, I felt incredibly welcomed and looked after. The vunteers went above and beyond to make sure everyone felt at home — whether it was helping with travel plans, sharing local tips, or just checking in to see how my day went.

Special thank you to Mati for being very patient, sharing his passion love and wisdom about nature, surf and life.

What truly stood out was the sense of community.. There was a spirit of openness and kindness that brought everyone together.

It was my first time learning how to surf, and I had a fantastic experience. The lessons are structured in a way to teach the theory on land before going out on the water, and even included a surf skate lesson to learn how to turn. The instructors (Nacho and Jonathan) were really patient and gave great tips and feedback! It was also really nice to have a yoga class to get a good stretch in between surf lessons.

The AC in the hostel dorm made it very comfortable to sleep in, and the breakfast was great!

Staff and surfing instructor was awesome, they made me feel welcome and like family. The accommodations were clean all the other guests were super friendly, the place offers a chill low key vibe. I can’t recommend enough, also it was a great deal the price was perfect. 10/10

Mai ke kai was a great place for my stay in tamarindo. The vibes allow you to feel comfy and relax. They made a great work with the decoration and the fourniture, providing all you need.

I took surf classes with Matias I really appreciated I would recommend to everyone regardless of any previous surfing experience. it was the best and most thorough course I could have asked for, I feel like the knowledge he passed on to me will stay with me throughout my long journey of learning to surf. Mati is nice, patient and professional ! + The course included theory about understanding how to analyse the conditions of the ocean and that’s something I don’t think you can be teached in every surf camp. I also enjoyed the surf skate course which is a real plus for progression in terms of controlling your surfboard. This activity makes the surf camp program well articulated.

And of course, after a good surf session in the morning, you can benefit from the tasty breakfast who leave you full for the rest of the day.

Overall it was a great experience and I hope to come back again.

Matias was great instructor and provided lots of good feedback. Even when the ocean conditions were not the best he still helped me improve.

Super chill. Had a great time. 100% would attend again!
