Surf and Yoga Maldives is located in a traditional Maldivian-style guest house. The whole property consists of 5 guest rooms, a kitchen, a dining area, a white sandy garden with tropical trees, and a swing. It’s located in the northern area of the island. Boli beach for snorkeling and watching sunsets and Pits for surfing are only within 5 to 10 minutes of walking distance.
All rooms are decorated in a traditional style with modern furnishing. All rooms have air conditioning and hot / cold shower. If you don’t like AC, you can also use the fan. Room cleaning is provided on request.
Greenish and yellowish colors are used to paint the rooms to keep in vibe with the aesthetics of the island. Overall, you will love to stay in this cozy little Maldivian guest house.
Programme
The best time to surf in Maldives is during the months of March to October when Southern Hemisphere winter brings swell to the reefs of the archipelago.
Maldives has a confirmation of three distinct atolls as identified by local surfers. Northern atolls are where famous breaks such as Cokes Chickens and Jails are located. The central atolls attract medium swells making it fun for intermediates and the advanced. The southern atolls attract bigger swells, and work best during the North-East monsoon (from March until April).
The biggest of swells arrive in June, July, and August during which the wind stays light offshore most days and the water becomes crystal clear.
The shapes of waves in Maldives are rolling up like a point break with steeper take-offs, rippable pockets, and usually 300 – 500 meter rides, making this place ideal for intermediate to advanced surfers.
The atoll they are lucky to be located in, Meemu, is a surfer's paradise. There are 5 breaks for intermediate and advanced levels of surfers.
The island which hosts home to this retreat, Mulah, has two main breaks. A seven-minute walk from the door of the camp will lead you through a tropical coconut jungle onto an empty covered beach where you will see the Mulah right and left.
Advanced intermediate surfer
At this stage, you have very good control over your board, can make turns to change the direction. You are also riding a short board or a minimal surf board.
You will focus on:
- Surfing and speeding down the line on a different types of waves
- Correct positioning to catch different types of waves
- Learning to cutback
- Technical analysis of your top turn and bottom turn
- Small floaters to pass the sections
- Duck dive improvement
Note: There's lessons for intermediate upon request.
Lieu
From island to island, fine white sand and crystal clear waters flow. Are you ready for a taste of heaven on earth?
Meemu, being one of the central atolls, has the advantage of being only 2.5 hours by speed boat ride from the capital of Male. It consists of 33 islands, of which only 9 are inhabited islands.
The chain of islands is also well known for its interesting reef formation among divers. The chance to see mantas, various reef sharks, and turtles, and the possibility of a rare visit by a whale shark, is what lures divers to Meemu Atoll.
With a population of just above 1,500, the island consists of some of the friendliest Maldivians, cultural values, green gardens, breathtaking beaches, and amazing surf and snorkeling / diving opportunities.
Mulah is the highest populated island. It’s located on the right end of the atoll making it attractive to most wind and swell directions from the southern hemisphere.

They are located on a remote island (a 3-hour speed boat from Male). It is a really peaceful island; you can't expect more local. However, they are located next to a resort island, if you want to spend 1 day enjoying the facilities of the resort (spa, pool, diving). They have a surf break located 8 minutes' walk from their guesthouse. And if the swell is good, they have 3 more breaks to explore, accessible by boat.
