This surf camp is situated in Medewi on Bali’s west coast, known for Bali’s longest wave. Nestled within lush rice fields and tropical garden, this camp consists of four basic Balinese Bungalows and three deluxe villas. The camp design is aimed at providing a relaxed, homey atmosphere for surfers. You won’t find dorm rooms or shared bathrooms here and all buildings come with board racks and outdoor showers to rinse off salt water.
Enjoy fine Indonesian cuisine and western dishes in the sea view restaurant Blue Fin. Relax by the pool within the tropical garden, enjoy a cold drink in the beachfront lounge area, or reset mind and body with a traditional Balinese massage in the Java Joglo.
Basic Bungalow
Stay in traditional Bali bungalows surf accommodation directly at the surf beach. Natural and traditional materials are used to build the bungalows, such as coconut and acacia timber, as well as bamboo and elephant grass. These sustainable building materials have been used in Asia for thousands of years and are ideal for the local climate.
It consists of cozy double or twin rooms, western standard, one double bed or two single beds, mosquito net, ensuite bathroom with toilet and shower, balcony or porch, and fan.
Surf Villa Mangga
Do you want deluxe accommodation with the waves right your doorstep? These Bali surf villas are designed to provide you with comfort and a laid-back atmosphere, combining upmarket interior and tropical flair. Let the sound of the ocean lull you into sleep and check the swell from the breakfast table.
It consists of spacious double or twin rooms with AC, western standard, double bed or two single beds, mosquito net, semi-open bathroom with toilet and hot water shower, balcony, and porch or garden.
Surf Villa Bali
Do you want deluxe accommodation with the waves right your doorstep? This Bali surf villa is designed to provide you with comfort and a laid-back atmosphere, combining upmarket interior and tropical flair. Let the sound of the ocean lull you into sleep and check the swell from the breakfast table. It is a spacious standalone villa with double bed, mosquito net, half-open bathroom with toilet and hot water shower, western standard, and porch.
Programme
On a daily basis, the experienced surf guides will bring you to various empty surf spots nearby. The surf lessons will be twice daily from Monday to Friday and 1 session on Saturday and Sundays. Beginner surf lessons are held at Brown Sugar Beach located directly in front of the surf camp.
The local surf instructors speak English and literally grew up in Medewi’s waves. They know the ocean like the back of their hands so they will always pick the best spot, according to conditions and your surfing level. Groups are kept small to ensure there will always be a surf guide with you in the water to look after you and coach you.
They will help you to form a sense for the board and wave, so you get prepared for the next step – to paddle, catch and surf your first waves still in small white waves but you are on your way to become a surfer! The surf classes are held in English and due to the small groups, their surf guides are close by your side and giving you constant feedback. The addition of video coaching helps you gain ground in no time.
Duck Dive
The surf coaches teach you in a small group the basic steps of surfing not only in theory but also safety in the water, the right paddle technique, how to catch and take off and turn on your first waves.

The Brown Sugar Surf School is located in the fishing village of Medewi on Bali’s west coast, where you won’t see crowded waves like you will find them in Kuta with its mass tourism and brash hawkers. At Brown Sugar, you will get exactly what you came to Bali for, which is waves.
There are lots of waves, left and right-handers, beach, point and reef breaks, and waves for beginners, intermediates, and advanced surfers. You will surf well-known spots like Medewi Point (Bali’s longest left), Diva, Truckstop, and Balian as well as numerous secret spots, which are reserved for Brown Sugar's guests.

Medewi Surf School uses mainly regional and fresh ingredients for their on-site restaurant, Blu Fin. Also all fruits for for their fresh juices and smoothies are Bali-based and tropical sun-ripened. Blu Fin serves a fusion of healthy Asian and light western cuisine from morning to night. Medewi Surf School's Beach Bar is serving cold beverages 24 hours a day. There are also various diners and restaurants in walking distance nearby.

The Brown Sugar Surf School will also be going to Pura Luhur Uluwatu temple and Kuta’s surf outlets.
