Ubuntu Surf Lodge is the partner for standard accommodation. From time to time similar lodges are used, subject to availability. The accommodation has a bar, pool table and barbeque facilities. It has also full kitchen facilities, Wi-Fi, and satellite TV. The accommodation is only 50 meters away from the beach.

The Surf School
Jeffreys Bay Surf School is located in Diaz Road, right on the main beachfront and at Dolphin Beach (a Blue Flag beach), the main learn to surf beach. The surf school is fully kitted with all the necessary surfboards and wetsuits and has changing facilities inside. Good clean shower and bathroom facilities are right across the road and there is ample parking in front of the surf school. All belongings and valuables can safely be stored at the surf school during surfing lessons, as it is staffed at all times. Operating hours are from 8am to 5pm and it possible to make special arrangements for early or late lessons & rentals.
Surfing lessons
All surfing lessons are two hours long and clients meet and get prepared for the lessons at the Surf School. We provide appropriate surfboards and wetsuits for all lessons and we have sizes from kids 8 right through to XL in wetsuits, with the same for surfboards. For learning to surf, we use special soft learn to surfboards and for intermediate lessons to advanced lessons, we have a large selection of mini mal and performance boards.
What we offer
Jeffreys Bay Surf School offers a wide selection of surfing experiences:
- Group Learn to Surf lesson – a two-hour lesson with soft surfboard, full-lengthwetsuit and bright brandedID vest. These lessons are in waist deep white water waves and involves on the beach coaching and in the water coaching. Ideal for all ages and no previous experience needed. Group ratio one instructor for six people. In Groups over six two instructors will be used.
- Private Learn to Surf lesson – a two-hour lesson with all the same as above group lessons but either one on one or limited to group as per client’s request.
- Intermediate lesson – a two-hour session where the client is taught how to ride green, unbroken waves or improve their skill of riding these waves. The instructor surfs with the client at one of the great intermediate breaks in front of the surf school. The instructor points out entry and exit routes to the break, positions the client in the best zone to catch waves and gives feedback and instruction after every ride. Some experience needed and only for children that are comfortable being in deeper water. Groups limited to three per instructor.
- Advanced coaching – a two-hour session where the client is taught how to do manoeuvres and ride more advanced waves. The coach either surf with the client as in intermediate lesson or the coaching can be in the form of video coaching where the coach videos the client surfing and gives analyses and advice with the video footage. Group limited to three per instructor.
- Surf Guiding –the client is collected from their accommodation and taken for a two-hour session at the best wave on the day in Jeffreys Bay. The surf breakis selected according to the client’s skill level and request. The guide will surf with the client pointing out the best entry and exit points and the best take off zones to catch waves. Some surfing experience needed and group limited to three per guide.
- Equipment rental – we have a large selection of surfboards and wetsuits to rent. All sizes of wetsuits and surfboards range from soft-top boards to mini-mals and long boards to high performance short boards.

- Jeffreys Bay has nine different surf breaks that suit all levels of surfing. With Dolphin Beach (perfect safe Blue Flag learn to surf beach), Kitchen Windows for intermediate gentle surfing, The Point for super fun hotdog waves, Magnatubes & Albatross for down the line surfing and the ultimate World Class Supertubes, J-Bay has waves for all levels of surfers to enjoy.
- Jeffreys Bay has a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and enjoyable summers. The sea temperature does not change to drastic either, with cool water in winter and warm water in summer.
- Clients who are competent surfers will go for a daily two-hour guided surf session at the best break on the day. The guide, who will surf with them, will collect and return clients to their accommodation.
- For learn to surf and intermediate lessons, Jeffreys Bay Surf School is the base. The surf school is located right at Dolphin Beach, the perfect learn to surf beach and Kitchen Windows break is ideal for intermediate lessons.
- We have a large selection of surf equipment from soft-tops to hand-shaped boards, also all kinds of wetsuits and other water sports material
- Clients on the full package have full use of the surfing equipment outside of lesson and session times to practice with or enjoy some more surfing time
- For accommodation, only clients surf lessons, surf sessions and surfing equipment can be arranged at extra cost once they are in J-Bay
- Surf instructors are ISA/SSA qualified surf coaches

For this surf camp, you will have a one guided visit to a breathtaking safari game park and a visit to the local Jeffreys Bay board shaper.
Lombardini Game Farm
Lombardini Game Farm is situated in the Seekoei River Valley just outside Jeffrey’s Bay, only a few minutes away. Their professional tour guides take you around the park to introduce you to the wonders of African nature. More than 20 different kinds of African species are preserved in this reservation, including the White rhino, giraffe, buffalo, fish eagles, different species of Antelope among others.
Your guide will take you as close as possible to observe and photograph them. Of course safety is always remained. During the tour he gives explanation about the animals you will be spotting.
Lion Park
The second offer is Lion Park in Port Elizabeth, a forty minutes drive away from Jeffrey's Bay. Lion Park offers visitors a unique close-up game viewing experience of wild animals in their natural habitat. As the name implies Lion Park’s main attraction are the lions. Several years ago the white lion was very close to extinction. To give this species a change for survival, the park started a breeding program.
The aim of the park’s continued breeding program is to create a second gene pool to breed healthy white lions and to conserve this rare species. This means encouraging the breeding, raising the cubs to strong and healthy lions, and setting them free into nature.
There is normally the opportunity to witness feeding time and possibly you may be able to pet the little lion cubs. The cubs up to three months old are kept apart so they can grow strong to compete with the others.
Apart from its primary role as a game-viewing and lion-breeding facility, the Lion Park is also a renowned sanctuary which successfully treats and rehabilitates many sick or injured animals. The park also offers tigers, zebra’s (who run around freely), and a big amount of African birds.

Jeffrey's Bay works best in July and August when there are usually back-to-back swells with a good period to help join up the sections at the east-facing spot of Jeffrey's Bay. Jeffrey’s Bay is world-renowned for its many different surf breaks:
Kitchen Windows (near Main Beach)
An excellent place to learn how to ride waves. It is a peak that breaks left and right.
Magna Tubes
Fast, powerful and classic waves, as good as anywhere else.
Boneyards
Boneyards is right next to Supers. You will be able to recognize it with ease, as it is the spot where the waves are breaking almost perfectly, but there are only one or two guys sitting out there.
Do not be fooled, this is a locals only break and they take it as a serious offence if you as an outsider decide to surf there. It may have the better wave, but that is the bonus of being a local at Jeffrey's Bay for quite some period of time.
Super Tubes
The waves there can get large (up to about 10 to 12 feet). This is the ultimate test of your surfing ability. It is very fast, powerful, and very long and as the name suggests, getting tubed is the name of the game. It is suited only to experienced surfers.
South Africa
It is an amazing destination with the legendary waves of J-Bay to surf, wildlife parks to explore, culture and traditions older than time to experience. South Africa has diverse climatic regions, from tropical to arid deserts but can offer top surf trips.
The 3,000 kilometers of coastline at the bottom of the African continent boast beautiful beaches and bays of consistent waves from Durban to Cape Town. The surf season in South Africa is long and surfing is a way of life over there. The locals are friendly and welcoming and you can surf quality waves over reefs, points and beachbreaks almost all year around.
The Indian Ocean meets the Atlantic Ocean at the Cape of Good Hope throwing consistent swells and amazing waves up the South African coastline offering a popular surfing destination for all kinds of surfers.
Jeffrey’s Bay
Jeffreys Bay is the undisputed surfing capital of South Africa with the world famous Super Tubes, surf shops and factory outlets from all the major surf brands and the annual World Tour surf contest, the WCT Corona J-Bay Pro.
With it being possible to surf all year round, mild climate, loads of excellent coffee shops and restaurants, highly rated guesthouses and backpackers close to the beach and located on the N2 freeway, it is the perfect surfing vacation town.
The biggest surfing asset Jeffreys Bay has though is that it has twelve different surf breaks within a four-kilometer stretch of coastline. These breaks vary from the very advanced world famous Super Tubes right to Dolphin Beach, the best learn to surf beach in South Africa. Of the remaining surf breaks, at least half are very user-friendly and ideal for intermediate surfers. It is the perfect surfing town for all levels of surfers, a unique feature in South Africa and the World.
Jeffreys Bay Surf School has been operating, teaching and guiding since 2000 and we have extensive local knowledge on all the surf breaks. They have built strong relationships with the local accommodation establishments, restaurants, surf brands and business and can thus give our clients the best service and guidance on their surfing vacation.
