- Surfing conditions: The best surf months are April to October, but conditions can vary. Hidden Reef Retreat recommends checking your skill level against the surf breaks and discussing it with their guide before each session.
- Booking early is recommended for peak season.

Hidden Reef Retreat is located on the peaceful local island of Veymandoo, the capital island of Thaa Atoll in the southern Maldives. Far from the busy tourist zones, Thaa Atoll is home to some of the least crowded surf breaks in the country, including Mikado, Finnimas, Adonis, and Malik’s.
The island itself is quiet and welcoming, offering a true glimpse into Maldivian life. You’ll find friendly locals, sandy streets lined with coconut palms, and a relaxed island pace that perfectly complements your surf sessions.
Beyond the waves, the atoll is known for its pristine reefs, excellent snorkeling, and vibrant marine life. Fishermen still head out daily in traditional boats, and guests can join in for a hands-on fishing adventure.
Getting here is an adventure in itself: you can take a scenic domestic flight from Malé to Thimarafushi Airport, followed by a short boat ride to Veymandoo. Please book your flight to arrive at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (MLE). This is the main international gateway to the Maldives. From there, you can reach Veymandoo in Thaa Atoll using one of the following options:
- Domestic flight + boat transfer: Fly from Malé to Thimarafushi Domestic Airport (approx. 50-minute flight)—this flight is not included in the package. Upon arrival, a short boat ride to Veymandoo is included in the package at no extra cost.
- Speed launch / ferry from Malé: On scheduled days, guests can take a direct speed launch or ferry from Malé to Thaa Atoll—included in the package. This option is budget-friendly, scenic, and convenient.
