Homestay
Homestays are a great way to really immerse yourself in not only the Spanish language but also the local culture. The homestay families are all warm and inviting, and they are eager to welcome you into their homes and share their lives with you during your stay. All homestay families houses are within a 10-15 minute walk from the school, so it’s not only a good educational option, it’s convenient as well.
The homestays provide you with your own room so that you can have privacy during your stay. You’ll have delicious home-cooked meals prepared for you every day (your choice of 1, 2, or 3 meals a day). Based on previous students' feedback, the meals themselves make it worth the stay! Your laundry will also be done for you at least once a week.
Student’s apartment
The school has a fully furnished apartment available to our students who wish to live more independently than in a homestay. The apartment is fully furnished and has a kitchen stocked with all the equipment you may need. More than one student may be living there at a time, so it can be a fun social environment as well to mix with your fellow students.
It is located in the same building as the school, so it is incredibly convenient. It is very close to the beachfront, with plenty of good local restaurants, a large shopping mall, and a very nice supermarket. It’s in a neighborhood where locals live, so there are many opportunities to practice your Spanish if you are the type of person who likes to strike up conversations with people you meet.
The apartments are cleaned daily, but laundry service and meals are not included. There is free cable TV and Wi-Fi internet. There are local lavaderias close by that will wash your clothes for you and have them back the next day.
Programa
The surfing in this area of Ecuador is some of the best in South America, and Surpacifico Spanish School has several beaches that are perfect for surfers of all levels. December through April is surf season in Manta the water is warm and inviting, the surfing conditions peak. During these months Surpacifico Spanish School provides surf classes every weekday in the afternoons, after your Spanish classes.
A class consists of 10 hours of surf lessons per week with Robert, a local surfer, and a professional instructor. The instructor speaks Spanish and English and will work with you, starting with theory on the beach, and then take you out on the waves. More experienced surfers are welcome as well if you are looking for someone to help you improve your technique.
The classes take place on several possible different beaches in Manta, depending on the conditions and the experience levels of the surfers, including Playa Murcielago, San Lorenzo, and Las Piñas. All equipment and transportation are included in the course fee.
Ubicación
This camp will take place in Manta, Manabi, Ecuador. Manta is a picturesque city located on the Pacific Ocean. Manta has some of the most stunning beaches in South America, and it has become the best and affordable destination for surfing, kitesurfing, and diving. The beaches are suitable for practicing these great water sports for all kinds of levels. At the beach of Tarqui, you can also do a variety of sports like volleyball, soccer, and more.
Manta is also an important center for the tuna and fishing industry, therefore, you will find the most incredible seafood restaurants as well as an active nightlife with some great bars and clubs as well as a few casinos. Manta is still not discovered by non-Ecuadorian tourism, it is the ideal place to get to know the real Ecuadorians and get fully immersed into the Ecuadorian culture.
In the surroundings of Manta, there are many interesting places you can visit like Montecristi, the official town of the ‘Panama hats’, Machalililla National Park with fascinating flora and fauna, as well as San Plácido Waterfalls and La Locita Waterfalls, which are both only 2 hours away from Manta. There, you can enjoy an incredible flora inside a forest.

Arrival by airplane
Transfer from and to the airports is available upon request. Surpacifico Spanish School offers private shuttle service from the airport in Guayaquil direct to Manta for 110 USD. They can pick you up at the airport in Manta as well. The driver will welcome you with a well visible nameplate and bring you to the home stay without any additional charge. Besides, the new airport in Quito is 1.5 hours away from the city and a taxi from the airport to the city will cost 35 USD.
Arrival by bus
Arriving to Ecuador through Guayaquil, you can also travel on your own from Guayaquil to Manta by bus. There are several bus companies such as Reina del Camino, Coactur, and Carlos Alberto Aray. Surpacifico Spanish School can provide a free pick-up service at the bus station in Manta. You need to call before leaving from Guayaquil to Manta (there are many public telephones at the bus station in Guayaquil) in order to arrange the pick-up service.
Meanwhile, if you are coming from Quito to reach Manta, Surpacifico Spanish School suggests taking a bus from "Flota Imbabura" Bus Company, which runs several times a day daily from Quito to Manta. Surpacifico can pick you up at the bus station in Manta and bring you to the home stay.
