Oceanside Gran Canaria Surf

The hostel was right by the ocean and I slept to the sound of the waves...its what I'm missing most now I'm home)..

The hostel was kept clean at all times and facilities were excellent providing activities to join should you wish to.

Staff were all lovely and as always in hostels lots of friendly travellers.

The roof top terrace was perfect to eat at or read or just catch the sun

The surf lessons were excellent catering for all abilities and the intermediate group I was with made visible progress...not sure I did! 😅

I met Sergio on my last day and he was so friendly as he had been through my booking questions I'd sent!

TUITION: Excellent tuition by Roberto on the 3 days we had him. He explained how to read conditions and his theory on the beach was excellent, and he really pushed to get us on the green waves. Jose and Patricia were good too, they gave you a task and some exercises which helped, but without Roberto I think I'd feel a bit lost on how to improve in my own time and how to understand the sea.

The wet suits were almost always dry the next day, so no need to bring your own wet suit.

AREA: Food and drinking out is very cheap in the area

Great location, instructors explained everything well, good for all levels (we were total beginners), good equipment, warm ups, great photographer, good length of session, very fun overall.

I had the bad habits of using my knees to get up. I knew it and couldn't get rid of it. The teachers were really good at giving me small hints to improve. I was able to get up multiple times the proper way and then they gave me extra tips to improve my posture and turns. I am very happy to have moved away from my plateau and can now keep growing with my own practice until the next plateau.

Oceanside has given me the best days on Gran Canaria. From the moment you arrive at the shop to get the suit and board, you can feel the amazing energy from everyone. All instructors try to bring out the best in you, but I must mention Kevin; he went above and beyond to help us learn and have fun while trying to catch waves. His dedication and passion are remarkable. The same goes for Larry; he did everything he could to capture great pictures of everyone.

Overall, it was a lovely experience, and I would highly recommend it.

The surf lessons were great, oceanside is very professional and has great instructors. If you are not a complete beginner might be good to go just for 1-2 lessons and borrow the equipment and practice yourself.

The Tamaran Hostel has a great atmosphere and people working there are super kind and friendly.

We had a rooftop room which is super hot, has private bathroom though and you can enter rooftop terrace at the same floor right away. The location is the best.

Everything was really nice and the instructors were very good.

I did the surf camp where you get five days of lessons and had a few different instructors across the week, but all were really brilliant and I learned so much. The initial out-of-water teaching was absolutely invaluable when it came to acutaly being in the sea and trying to surf - it was incredibly helpful to learn about what waves to go for, how to position yourself on the board etc. I'd had one surf lesson before in Lisbon which was fun but focused pretty much only on standning up rather than trying to catch the right wave - and the focus here for beginners on just catching a wave (walking before you can run, i guess) was wayyy more helpful.

There was a huge emphasis on safety and going at your own pace, which i personally really valued, and instructors and fellow leaners alike were all super lovely and very supportive. Highly recommended and will be back for sure!

Sin duda ha sido un lujo poder disfrutar una semana en sus instalaciones. Tanto Agüita House y Oceanside esta rodeada de Buena energía. Genial en organización, buen servicio y equipo. Me encantará repetir lo antes posible! Gracias y un saludo a su fotógrafo con gran talento y bondad!

The surf school has everything you need: Changing rooms, water dispenser, shower, toilets, lockers (keys can be left at the reception while surfing). Best of all, it is situated right next to the beach, only a short walk is necessary after changing into the provided wetsuits and lycra and getting your surf board. The instructors were all friendly and knowledgable, giving great tips and making the experience super fun.

The Las Canteras loft was a great apartment for two people, only a block away from the school and the beach. Check-in and check-out were super easy, the apartment was clean and had a little kitchenette. There was no AC in the apartment, just a fan. The beds were comfy and all in all a great place to stay in for a week. Thanks again for a great vacation!

Zum Hostel: Nette, familiäre Atmosphäre. Saubere Zimmer und Gemeinschaftsräume. Nur 15 Minuten Fußweg bis zur Surfschule. Es steht einem frei, sich den gemeinsamen Abendaktivitäten anzuschließen oder aber den Urlaub selbst zu gestalten. Alle Mitarbeiter:innen, sowie Mitbewohner:innen waren nett und freundlich.

Zum Surfkurs: War super und hat viel Spaß gemacht! Direkt am Surfstrand gelegen, hat man einen kurzen Fußweg bis zum Ozean. Man übt in kleinen Gruppen und bekommt von jedem Trainer individuell Hilfe nach dem eigenen Leistungsstand. Sehr gute Ausstattung.

All monitors very friendly and instructive. The hostel Ventana Azul was perfect too, really nice ambient. I'm gonna return for sure!

The staff were super helpful and friendly. Everything was clean and organized. The apartment was very nice and very convenient. Surfing location was right across from the shop.a snack was provided after two hours of surfing.

Every day a different instructor was fun and actually great cause each one of them focuses on one thing most!

All in all I had an awesome time :)

Accommodation was clean, staff were friendly and helpful, location was superb.

Beautiful beach.

We had fabulous instructors on the first and third day of our three day adventure. We enjoyed the ocean, found these two instructors knowledgeable and helpful and the equipment was good. We rented equipment on the fourth day without instruction, and found it a very good deal. The hostel was clean and quiet.

Everyone was friendly and helpful. There’s too much to remember but the instructors were really helpful and clear on explaining how things to be done. Surfing experience was amazing, didn’t managed to stand on the first day but second day was a little better, managed to stand up once but then floppped in to the water lol! Thank you once again for an awesome birthday! Everyone sang while stretching the Saturday and I was really touched. Accommodation was great too. The ambiance, the staff and the events they held there was great. Will definitely recommend it to friends and family.

The trainers are really nice, school facilities are really good no hassles at all.

Learning surfing was much easier with the trainer Manual who kept on giving right inputs which helped me surfing much faster.

I wish I could had enrolled for more days there. But I will be back soon :) Adios
