Everyone is so nice and welcoming, the coaches, kitchen staff and everyone else make this experience so special. I highly recommend this place for all surfing skill levels as they cater for everyone!

Perfekter Spot für mich als Anfängerin. Die Lehrer sind der Hammer, geduldig und lustig. Die Unterkunft ist sehr schön, direkt am Strand.

Surfing

Das Camp ist an einer nicht touristischen Ecke der Insel gelegen und bewahrt dadurch den natürlichen Charme der Insel. Rechts und links vom Camp sind Reisfelder und direkt davor der Strand, der von Palmenwäldern eingerahmt ist und an den nur wochenends oder abends ein paar einheimische Kinder zum Fußballspielen kommen. Sonst ist er Menschenleer und sieht wunderschön aus, wenn man vom surfboard aus über den Strand und die Reisfelder, auf die Palmenwälder und den Dschungel im Zentrum der Insel schauen kann. Dieses Bild werde ich für immer in meinen Erinnerungen behalten, ein wahrer Traum.

Ebenso wie die Menschen vor Ort.

Die surfguides, ebenso wie die Angestellten vor Ort, sind alle locals und kennen die Gegend, die besten Wellen, die leckersten heimischen Rezepte und auch gute Apotheken für den Notfall besser als jeder andere. Sie sind immer für eine*n da, wenn man sie braucht und mit ihrer herzlichen und zuvorkommenden Art geben sie einem das Gefühl von Zuhause. Dank ihnen hatte ich eine wundervolle Woche im Camp, habe mich jederzeit wohl und sicher gefühlt und mein surfen mehr verbessert, als ich es je erträumt hätte. Sie geben wirklich alles dafür, dass wir eine perfekte Welle bekommen. Suksma.

Alles in Allem kann ich dieses surfcamp nur wärmstens empfehlen, weil es Bali unverfälscht erleben lässt und man selbst durch den nachhaltigen Ansatz des Camps auch dazu beiträgt, dass Bali so erhalten bleibt und nicht durch den Tourismus in seinem Charme zerstört wird.

The camp itself is so lovely - I loved my bungalow and the sea view. The staff was so amazing and the food was delicious!

Surfing with Hery and his group of surf guides was so much fun and I progressed.

The food is fresh and tasty. Medewi Magic shake and Nasi Campur special. Oh my goodness!! 🤤

I got the room close to the entrance and I can literally hear the ocean, lulling me to sleep at night and waking up to it. Love it!! 🌊🩵🌊🌊🌊🌀🌊

Kira the in house cat is a darling, warm (rare for cats) and happy to be around people. 😽

Any quiries were addressed promptly which was helpful with the planning.

The fact the 90% of the people that come here is repeat business should tell you everything. Mama and the staff in the kitchen look after the guests so well, and even though it’s sounds crazy to not order local food the chicken burger is the best in the world. After a surf there will be 10 delivered to the table.

Harry, Kiki and the instructors have the best local knowledge and always look for the best conditions, I’ve been surfing most of my life and still always learn things from the boys. Tbe accommodation is beautiful surrounded by a jungle and there is so many staff keeping the place cleans 24/7. We had 4 people in our room each morning cleaning it.

Stay away from Changu and the tourist traps and get away to this little slice of heaven. It’s something you’ll never regret.

Wow wow wow. Let's start with the most important part, the surf was amazing. Beautiful waves and even better instructors. I cannot believe how much I progressed this week! The teacher to student ratio is so good and they're really proactive in giving you feedback so you can improve fast. They're also super friendly and you can tell they're enjoying it which makes a big difference.

The same can be said for the rest of the staff. Very friendly and very accommodating. The camp is beautiful. Especially for the money paid, you can't fault it.

Loved it so much that I extended my stay and will be back again!

I had so much fun at Brown Sugar and could feel my surfing really improved. The instructors have a very personal approach and make you feel really safe in the water. I transitioned from soft top to hard board and from white water to green waves and it felt amazing. The accommodation itself is beautiful and feels like paradise. The staff is super friendly and you get to hang out with the other guests. I love Medewi because it still got the authentic local vibe and is not too crowded or packed with tourist. Definitely coming back here!

Had a fab week with Brown Sugar. Went solo, felt like my surfing improved in the week and always felt safe in the water, with good instructor to student ratio. Staff at the camp were very friendly and food was great. Will hopefully come back!

I hurt my hand on the first surfing lesson so was unfortunayely unable to continue with my classes. But all the instructors were very concerned and wanted to help and assist me in any way so I would be able to continue. But it wasn't possible with my hand as it was.

They seemed very intressed in their job and very experienced. I was really impressed over their patience and kindness.

The place is lovely. The staff were so nice and kind, great food, nice pool area.

Everything was perfect. As soon as I arrived to the surf camp I felt like I was part of the family. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. Perfect for solo travellers. The instructors were so kind, friendly and patient. They always took the time to explain everything for you to improve on your technique. I always felt very safe and confident in the water being with them. Special shoutout to Hery!. You were the friendliest and most patient surf instructor ever!. You made sure I understood what I was doing wrong and what I could do to improve my surfing skills. I would have never thought I could improve that much in 7 days!. I think he was happier than me when I rode the waves!. I'm going to miss surfing with you all!

I booked this camp not to learn to surf but to get taken to spots 2 times a day and have some coaching tips on how to improve my surfing. It did not disappoint.

The organisation by the surf instructors, the coaching tips and whole experience was awesome.

Knowledge of spots I would recommend Brown Sugar. They cater for everyone.

Don't be put off with the distance from the airport, the shuttle service is free and it is worth the extra couple of hours for less crowded waves and relax environment.

The people are amazing, easy to socialize as solo travelers, super good instructors, quiet location that feels like the countryside.

Instructor so knowledgeable, the staff is so friendly and amazing. The place is clean, peaceful and I can’t speak highly enough of it. It’s a little slice of Heaven in a peaceful uncrowded area which is so good when you get out of the tourist areas of Bali. When I got my food, drink and laundry bill for the week I nearly laughed and asked them are they sure they haven’t left anything out.

All of the staff members were really nice.

The Brown Sugar staff are warm and friendly. Whether they were cleaning our room, cooking food, staying up late on security duty or coaching us surfing, these incredible people were attentive, interested and awesome.

I highly recommend staying at Brown Sugar. When you stay at Brown Sugar you become part of the family. Most of the staff has been there since the business's inception, which says a lot about Dan and Agus. And the surf was pumping! YEW!

I will be back next year.

It was an amazing experience, totally worth it and recomendable. Most of the experience comes from the people working there! Hery an the guys were super nice, Kiki Andrew, Bryan… Hery is a really good teacher and pushes you to improve, I feel that I improved so much in just a week. He is dedicated, observant and has passion for surf and teaching! The food was amazing everyday and the BBQ provided so good, a real delicacy.

Thanks also to Mama and the girls in the kitchen, always attentive and very nice. They make you feel at home. located in an enviable location facing the sea, away from the bustle of Kuta or Canggu but close enough to fantastic surf spots and a couple of cheap restaurants where you can enjoy the local cuisine. A totally recommended experience to disconnect and focus on surfing. Each day the locations and times of the surf lesson are selected according to the sea conditions and levels.

I enjoyed a simple single room which was simple but very good and had an amazing bathroom. Please come a enjoy from a magical surf experience in Bali! I meet people there that has come back and I would if could!

I cannot describe in words the profound joy I experienced at Brown Sugar Surf camp. But I can say that the coaches, kitchen staff and campmates made my experience one of a kind. Special shoutout to Hari who was the head coach. He gave a good balance of feedback and encouragement and he really ampted up my surfing. He is absolutely the best and one of a kind.

I hope to come back to this camp soon!

To anyone coming. You definitely will amp up your surf game if you come focused on surfing and being open to others.

These days at Brown sugar have been just amazing! Special thanks to Andrew and Hery, for being so supportive in and outside the water. These guys know what they are doing! All levels are divided accordingly and you will be trained in the perfect spot for you. No swell? No problem, they also know several spots for those "flat" days.

I am a cranky old man but the whole experience was fantastic. Heri was the head instructor of a team of highly professional locals. Free with information., attention to detail, positivity and friendliness. Lots of pushing onto waves. Was taken to the ‘secret spots’ when the swell was to large for the point.

They would go out of their way to find the right board, with Agus supplying special weapons from his quiver. I thought all of the boards were good and perfectly suited for what we needed.

Mater and her admin and kitchen team were beautiful. Food was great with a large menu of local and international food. Also very friendly, warm and would go out of their way to accommodate special needs.

I loved the bungalows, comfortable, clean and cute. Not too fancy which was perfect for the vibe.

I loved Medewi and where BS was located could not be better. Easy to visualise the Old Bali.

Will be back next year.

My friend and I had the most fantastic time learning to surf here! Neither of us had been surfing before but the instructors took lessons slow and helped us get comfortable. Even though our time ended with my friend breaking her foot (OOOPS!) we loved the experience :) We can’t wait to come back!

Long drive to/from airport but once there all good. Instructors were great.

Everyone was lovely and helpful and cheerful and the guides really helped me progress! Had a blast!

Great vibe amongst the people there, everyone knows who you are right away and can’t seem to do enough for you…

Medewi point is a really long and fun right hander though there is plenty punchy beach break on offer too!

The beach in front of the small resort is amazing and was almost empty. The resort was great and people were very kind. The surf instructors are all great surfers and also good teachers. It was a tough week with two sessions per day but I really learned how to surf and just had an enjoyable time in Medewi. :)

I love everything about this surf camp, the placer, the people, the views, the good feelings all the time! For sure I gonna repeat again! Thanks guys for make me feel like home!
